TNA DESTINATION X 2008 - BY THE NUMBERS

The Angle Alliance vs. Nash/Cage/Joe
I am not a fan of non title main events and this is exactly what this is. To be honest, in looking at this card I’d rather see Machismo and Williams headline the show. With that said I do think this will be a very solid match, especially if they let Angle and Joe or Styles and Cage have a nice chunk of one on one time in the bout. The two question marks to me are Nash and Tomko, they give 100 percent, there is no doubt of that but sometimes their execution and styles can really slow a match down. This will be a match that people ended up loving or hating, no in between. I see The Alliance winning this one.
3.5 out of 5.0 Atomic Leg Drops
Rhino vs. James Storm – Elevation X
It is a dangerous match that is for sure and it seems like it always was meant for the “smaller” guys, which neither of these two are. However, I really like James Storm in the ring and though Rhino might be rusty he will pull out a good match. These two have had a good feud with an appropriate amount of time. Look for Rhino to win here and get his momentum back.
4.0 out of 5.0 Atomic Leg Drops
Machismo vs. Williams – X Division Title
This will be the highlight of the night for sure. Williams has never looked stronger in his entire career and Machismo is one of those fan favorites that just oozes cheers from the crowd. I love Petey’s finisher and I hope to see it. There is going to be a lot of back and fourth in this match and while I think it would be best to have either one of these guys go over clean, it is my opinion that Steiner will get involved and ruin the match for one of them. He could turn on Williams or he could make sure he nabs the title. I have no for sure opinion on why will actually win.
5.0 out of 5.0 Atomic Leg Drops
Booker T vs. Robert Roode – Strap Match
This is probably the most over angle in TNA right now with the exception of AJ and Karen’s kiss. It is a match that really deserves to be highlighted as both these guys have been busting their buts to get each other over in the past few weeks. I see Booker winning this clean and I hope to see the Queen by his side.
4.0 out of 5.0 Atomic Leg Drops
Kong vs. Kim vs. ODB – Women’s Title
They are the three best female in ring and on mike performers in the entire world today and they are high up on a mountain of great TNA Knockouts. This will be a women’s match for the ages and will rival the Machismo match in popularity. Look for a new champion to be crowned and don’t expect it to be Kim…I think the ODB just might find some gold around her waist.
4.5 out of 5.0 Atomic Leg Drops
Shark Boy and Curry Man vs. Team 3D
I am not looking forward to this one as I really haven’t enjoyed most of the angle. Team 3D should wipe the floor with them, but I wonder if the match will even happen. Maybe 3D is planning a vacation.
1.5 out of 5.0 Atomic Leg Drops
Rock N’ Rave vs. MCMG vs. LAX - #1 tag Team contender’s match
This is another one that could steal the show. I think these three teams are absolutely on top of their game where all is concerned. I do wish that R and R would get rid of Christy Hemme though. I would suspect that MCMG will win this one and do it clean. Look for a lot of high flying, fast paced action in what will be a show stopper.
4.5 out of 5.0 Atomic Leg Drops
Kaz and Eric Young vs. Black Reign and Relic
Blah…Blah, blah, blah …blah …I have a Rat…Blah blah blah…I spit blood…blah….PLEASE LET YOUNG WIN THIS ONE. It gets such a bad rating because of how ill I find Black Reign and Relic…Kaz and Young are phenomenal talents who have been given the toilets to clean…they can’t save this one.

Should you buy or not?
Let’s first look at the numbers – When we total everything up we get 27.5 out of 40.0. That is better than half. It is like getting a C+ in grade school. There are a couple real clunkers on this card but there also are a few great bouts scheduled – most of them having to do with the cruiser weight dudes and the tag team division, as well as the women. If you are deciding between this and Mania then by all means do not get this PPV, buy Wrestlemania in three weeks. However, if you can afford both or if you are not a fan of WWE’s product than this might just be one of the few TNA PPVs to get this year.
