Match thoughts:
Aries and Black had a really well paced, action filled match. Black looked
great in a losing effort. Aries did a nice job of elevating him.
Great start to the show.
Lacey and del Rey put on a good show, though it was probably five minutes too
long.
6 Man Mayhem was a preshow extra put on the main show because of the weather.
It's not bad, and has a couple good spots, but pretty forgettable.
You've seen Claudio and Hero a dozen times before. The best thing I can
say about it is the Hero stalling was kept to a minimum, so the fast forward
button didn't get that much of a workout. Good match, but nothing
groundbreaking.
Nothing to say about the squash.
Albright-Jigsaw was a pretty standard match. Again, nothing to write home
about, but it was solid enough.
Stop me if you've read this before, but Whitmer and Delirious was something
you've seen several times over, right down to the beating. OK for what it
was, but you probably have this on DVD already.
Now we're back on track. Jacobs and Danielson had a great first time
singles match, and the upset was a nice touch. Big win for Jacobs.
The trios tag was about 7-10 minutes too long. The heels dominated for
most of the match. When all six men got involved at the end, it picked up,
but this was paint by numbers.
Overall, I couldn't say this is a must buy DVD. For a show called
Unscripted, there were a few too many familiar matches. I would have mixed
it up and had the usual suspects fight different opponents. Sure, it
furthered key storylines, but the seen it all before nature of the show, coupled
with the great Jacobs-Dragon match, had the crowd worn out and quiet by the end
of the show. Aries-Black and Jacobs-Danielson are the only matches that
are really worth your time. It should be mentioned again that ROH was
forced to make the best of a bad situation, so the fact that they were able to
put out a three hour DVD in the first place is pretty impressive.
