BILL
BEHRENS NWA NOTES for 5-19-08
5/17
Anarchy Report by Larry Goodman
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Last
night’s NWA Anarchy show was not your average television taping in Cornelia.
The intensity level of the entire crew has picked up. Like NWA Wildside was at
times, Anarchy is now being seen as route to get noticed by the major league
organizations. Coming off this show, it felt like the overall morale within
the company was at its peak.
There
was great effort up and down the card, but it was the main events of each hour
that set this show apart. It was those matches that turned the crowd at the
NWA Arena into the loudest 190 people I’ve ever heard.
NWA
Anarchy owner Jerry Palmer announced a special fan fest would take place prior
to the next show on May 31 (see notes below). Smarty pants Seth Delay
interrupted. Palmer was hot at Delay for knocking Sal Rinauro out with knucks
and cutting his hair. Palmer got in his face and Delay ran away.
Ring
announcer/play by play guy Greg Hunter directed our attention to the
WrestleVision for a promo by Shadow Jackson. This was taped two weeks ago
after
(1)
Malachi beat T. K. Cross in 4:30. Malachi debuted two weeks ago against Chad
Parham. He worked hard and showed some fire and was minimally over. Cross gave
Malachi a downward spiral into the middle turnbuckle and was in full control.
Malachi countered from nowhere with a DDT for the win. Fans didn’t have a
whole lot of investment in this one way or the other.
We
saw Chad Parham and Delay backstage on the WrestleVision. Parham said Delay
was his hero for what he had done. Parham said Delay reminded him of himself
with the way he got under Palmer’s skin. “When you infuriate Jerry Palmer,
that means you’re something in this business.†Delay said Parham may have
his back, but the rats had always had his front. And here I thought this was a
family show. If they fans didn’t hate Delay before, they do now.
(2)
Jeff Lewis and Hayden Young went to a 10 minute draw (10: 51 to be exact) in a
match to determine the number one contender for the NWA Anarchy Television
Title. NWA Anarchy Television Champion Truitt Fields came out to do color
commentary. Young frustrated Lewis by wrestling him to a stand off, so Lewis
went to the shortcuts. The key spot saw Young go for an Asai moonsault, but
Lewis pulled him off the apron and dropped him on his face. Lewis was in full
control until Young hit his spinning enzuirgiri for a double down spot with
one minute to go. They traded near falls. Lewis ducked a second enzuirgiri
attempt and hit the Final Curtain just as the bell sounded. Lewis was ready to
dish out more punishment, but Truitt Fields hit the ring for the save. Finish
was kind of muddled. Only a lukewarm crowd response to this match. I’m
guessing it was because Young never really got to show his stuff.
(3)
Sal Rinauro & Ace Rockwell vs. Todd Sexton & Seth Delay ended as a no
contest at 8:19. It’s just so strange seeing Rinauro with shorter hair. This
was advertised as Sexton vs. Rinauro. Delay attacked Rinauro on the ramp and
it was two on one. Rockwell jumped into the fray, so referee Brent Wiley
ordered a tag match that the crowd was way hot to see. The opening minutes
were a showcase for Rockwell. The added muscle on his frame give his offense
more oomph. Rinauro and Rockwell hit a double fistdrop on Sexton and danced,
much to the delight of the crowd. Rockwell popped Delay for interfering and
walked into a dropkick from Sexton. Delay continued to be complete thingy. He
put Rockwell’s necklace on and tried for double ax off the ropes, but
Rockwell countered with a Codebreaker, and it was both men down. The hot tag
led to four way action and a round of finishers. In the midst of the chaos,
Wiley got knocked down and called for the bell. Hot match.
Postmatch,
the Technicians attacked. Ace and Sal fought them off but then Parham whacked
Rinauro across the back with a chair. The babyfaces were taking a beating when
Palmer hit the ring with his axhandle, and the heels scattered.
Color
commentator (and Parham brownnose) John Johnson entered the ring. He said he
was sick of Palmer’s jealousy. He went on and on to where the fans were
chanting for Palmer to knock him out. Palmer had other ideas. He told Johnson
he needed a volunteer for the dunk tank at the fanfest. Johnson declined.
Palmer told Johnson either you’re doing the dunk tank or “YOU’RE
FIRED!†Huge pop for the VKM delivery of the line.
(4)
Shatter (with Jeff G. Bailey) beat Shaun Tempers (with the Reverend) in 8:06.
They tore the house down. This was major league in every respect – insane
heat and explosive action with every mover right on the money. Any lingering
doubts about Tempers as a main event caliber singles wrestler were put to
rest. This was his best singles match ever in Anarchy. “The Butcher of
Pyongyang†Kimo came out with Shatter. The guy is ripped and ridiculously
intense. And the facial expression when Bailey removes the black hood is
freaking awesome. Legit scary like Mark Lewin or Abby from 25+ years ago.
Azrael was with Tempers. They were ushered to the back by their respective
handlers before the opening bell. This was war. Tempers clotheslined Shatter
and both men spilled over the top. Shatter did a number on Tempers with the
rail, but Tempers gave Shatter a wicked backdrop on the ramp. Tempers was all
over Shatter’s back. Tempers countered a spinebuster with a backbreaker for
a near fall. Tempers then applied the most awesome camel clutch I’ve seen in
forever. It had to be sheer torture. Some chants for Shatter here. Shatter
rammed Tempers into the turnbuckles to break the hold. Shatter leveled Tempers
with a lariat and pounded away. Powerslam for two. Perfect Plex for two.
Tempers dumped Shatter, who only knows one way to take a bump – BIG. Back
inside, Shatter picked Tempers off the top ropes with a belly to belly suplex.
Tempers kicked out of the delayed cover. Tempers pulled referee Jacob Ashworth
into the path of Shatter’s spear attempt. Shatter crushed him with it.
Azrael hit the ring, but so did Kimo. He smoked Azrael with a Samoan Drop.
Shatter hit the PTSD and Brent Wiley slid into the ring to make the three
count. Just a stellar match from beginning to end.
(5)
Truitt Fields beat Jay Clinton to retain the NWA Anarchy Television Title in
2:29. Fields is cut beyond belief – like zero bodyfat. His entrance smacked
of the two title challengers not being in his league.
Bailey
said after the carnage Kimo inflicted two weeks ago, nobody wanted to face
him, but one young man did. It was local hero, Bo Newsom. Bailey gave Newsom a
full minute to do anything he wanted to Kimo.
(6)
Kimo (with Jeff G. Bailey) decimated Bo Newsom via submission in 1:35. The kid
tried. Even a leg lariat had no effect. Kimo destroyed him with a blitz of
karate blows, hit an STO and applied a choke submission. All of his stuff
looked killer. Fans were chanting for the tap. Newsom passed out. Kimo wanted
to do it again. Bailey said no. Pretty close to perfect. Kimo came across as
both indestructible and lethal.
(7)
Iceberg (with the Reverend) pinned Don Matthews in a non-title match at 10:11.
Match was OK. I got the feeling fans didn’t see Matthews as having much of a
chance. An early blitz of strikes dropped Iceberg to one knee. Iceberg showed
more respect. Matthews took Iceberg down with a flying bodypress off the
middle ropes. Enough of that s***. Iceberg hit a back suplex and went to work.
Matthews got his mean face on for the comeback. Iceberg gave him two freight
train corner splashes and a cannonball for good measure. Matthews started is
comeback with a sloppy powerslam. Matthews got a near fall with the BFK.
Matthews then had Berg flat on his back after The Lariat when he saw Brodie
Chase and Melissa Coates at ringside rubbing up against each other. Iceberg
capitalized with a belly to belly suplex and finished Matthews with the Ground
Zero splash. Nothing wrong with the execution of the finish, but I hated the
way it was booked. Yeah, it was non-title. Still, it felt like the heavyweight
title, which has been nurtured to new heights of prestige, was cheapened in
the service of midcard comedy storyline.
The
Reverend said the stooges didn’t want them to fight, but on May 31, Iceberg
was going to give Shatter his final title shot and split his wig again.
Reverend said Shatter and Kimo could have a tag title shot any time, any
place.
(8)
Shadow Jackson & Slim J won a 13 team Mega Rumble to earn a tag title shot
on May 31 (28:24). Mega Rumbles are the Bill Behrens special, and once again,
he did a hell of job booking it to avoid the clustermess you would expect from
something like this. Teams entered every two minutes. Coates & Chase
started versus Friday Night Sensations (Ryan Michaels & Matt Sells) –
literally not their night. A collision left Chase’s head between Melissa’s
legs. Michaels was reluctant to hit Coates. Team number three was Big Time
Playaz (Scott McKenzie & David Matthews) from XCW in
NOTES:
So it’s Jackson & J vs. Devil’s Rejects for the tag titles and Iceberg
vs. Shatter for the heavyweight title on May 31. The fan fest will take place
from noon to 8pm. Along with the dunking booth, there will be an opportunity
to call taped matches with Greg Hunter, Q & A sessions with the wrestlers,
and barbecue. It’s also a fundraiser for a little girl in need. Admission to
show will be half price ($5)…The Top Rope Kids Club keeps getting bigger.
Over 30 kids were out there to visit with the Wild Bunch…The NWA website now
features Melissa Coates among NWA’s Lethal Ladies…Texas Treats return on
June 7. Their plan at this point is to come in once a month.

NWA
Anarchy TV Report by Ca$hFlowX
Episode 117
May 12, 2008
A Mid-Atlantic independent wrestling era came to a close last Saturday night
at King & Queen High School, VA when NWA Virginia Promoter Rick O’Brien
announced he was retiring to focus on his teaching career. Rick ran NWA New
York before relocating to
WRESTLING: (n.) ’res-ling A sport of contest in which two individuals face
off in unarmed combat.
ANARCHY: (n.) an-ar-key (1) A state of lawlessness due to absence of
authority. (2) A complete lack of order.
What happens when you mix the two together? NWA-Anarchy!
- Welcome to NWA Anarchy Wrestling, this is PROFESSIONAL WRESTLING~! We are
only one week away from the spring spectacular Hardcore Hell. Last week on NWA
Anarchy, the Devil’s Rejects disposed of G-Rated Reunited and subsequently
challenged the Awesome Attraction to a title vs. split match. Afterwards,
Mikal Judas destroyed the tag champs, but succumbed to Iceberg when Tank
mysteriously reappeared from thin air. Tonight, Truitt Fields defends the TV
Title against Don Matthews with Melissa Coates, and Mr. Rob Adonis faces off
with Jerry Palmer’s personally chosen opponent to determine what type of
match the owner will have with Jeremy Vain at HH, and NWA Anarchy Heavyweight
Champion Phil Shatter will destroy some hapless jobber.
1. Truitt Fields pinned Don “I’m Smitten Like a Kitten†Matthews
w/Brody Ray Chase & Melissa Coates to retain the NWA Anarchy TV Title.
The story going on here is that both wrestlers are distracted: Fields (Jeff
Lewis turned on him two weeks ago) and Matthews (the love triangle). Hunter
mentions he hasn’t checked his glasses in several weeks after Johnson refers
to Coates as a smart member of the female species. Fields dominates and
overcomes several heel tactics. The tide turns when Fields confronts Chase
after tripping him up. Matthews takes advantage with a flying knee. With the
referee distracted, Chase stomps a mudhole in Fields as Coates stares in
bewilderment. Fields ducks the Lariat of Doom, but eats the BFK. After
commercial, Matthews performs an act of human cannibalism while Coates
observes with sheer pleasure. Matthews sits Fields on the top turnbuckle, but
the champion fights back with a series of headbutts. Fields leaps with total
abandon and runs into a fall away slam for a two count. To ringside, Chase
places a fat wet one on Coates. Matthews escapes the Killing Fields and
confronts Chase regarding his infidelities with Coates. Fields seizes the
opening to put away Matthews with the Killing Fields.
COMMENTS: The love triangle continues to wreck havoc for Matthews. This was
solid action mixed with entertaining storytelling.
- Fields’s theme music comes to abrupt halt as “the Feature
Presentation†announces his intentions. In a week’s time, Lewis will debut
his latest sequel, the third reign as TV champion. As we all know, sequels
normally suck. Jeff Lewis channels Scott Hall & Kevin Nash and announces
the Feature Presentation has left the building. The TV Champ gives chase.
Meanwhile, Chase publicly humiliates Matthews. Matthews tires of Chase’s
ramblings and runs off to check on Coates. I feel like I’m in a fun soap
opera.
2.
Johnson has a public service announcement: parents sit all your children near
the television to observe a great display of sportsmanship and technical
wrestling. When they grow up, you too, can be like these four outstanding
gentlemen. After commercial, the Brunettes taunt the other contenders en route
to setting up for the Sheeney Curse. Bad move. The New Wave and the Brokeback
Bunch enters the fracas to humiliates the rudo contingent. The faces
commandeer a ladder and Billy Buck wipes out the brawling heels. Hunter
announces the #1 contender to the NWA Anarchy Tag Team Champions will be
determined via a ladder match.
COMMENTS: The booking in the #1 contender’s feud hasn’t measured up to NWA
Anarchy standards. In turn, the crowd responded with little fanfare. It would
have helped if both teams tried to interact with the crowd. At least the
finish was good.
- The Brunettes have some unflattering comments for their opponents. They are
pissed about running around in circles and accomplishing nothing in Anarchy.
So at HH, T & M will go bankrupt, the Brokeback Bunch will ride off into
the sunset and the New Wave will wave bye-bye. The last time the Brunettes
were in a ladder match, it won match of the year. Good interview.
- Brody Ray Chase is having a bad night, but Don Matthews is having a worse
one. Matthews is smitten like a kitten over Coates and can’t get the woman
out of his mind. Chase says Matthews is acting like a boy and is not man
enough for Coates. Melissa is tired of being the object of the locker room’s
desire and she calls them little boys. When little boys have a fight, they
need to fight it out once and for all. She wants herself out of their system.
Melissa announcers herself as special guest referee and promises to call it
like Bill Alphonso, right down the middle. Chase warns Matthews he doesn’t
want this, but the love struck Matthews continues to ignore him.
3. Jerry Palmer pinned Mr. Rob Adonis to face Jeremy Vain in a bunkhouse
match at HH.
Wow, this was quick. Palmer knocks out Adonis with a foreign object with Vain
protesting to the referee. The referee turns around and counts three.
Afterwards, Vain was livid as Palmer’s actions.
COMMENTS: It looks like Palmer didn’t bring in anyone else after all.
- After commercial, Vain scorns Mr. Adonis for allowing Palmer to get what he
wanted. Palmer must now face the consequences in 7 days in a match with no
rules. He hates Palmer as much as Palmer hates him. Yes, he is meaner than
Palmer and would back over him if he would stay still long enough. Palmer is
nobody’s savior and will be Easter weekend’s sacrificial lamb.
4. NWA Anarchy Heavyweight Champion Phil Shatter w/Jeff G Bailey destroyed
TK Kross in non-title action.
Let’s get this mismatch straight, TK Kross is Bill Mulkey and Shatter is Big
Van Vader. In other words, TK Kross is a chicken McNugget and Shatter is a Big
Mac. Got the picture? Shatter obliterates Kross with a spinebuster, spear and
the PTSD powerbomb for the squash victory.
POSTMATCH: Bailey grabs the stick to slobber all over Shatter. That was a
vulgar display of power!!!! Congratulations are in order for Iceberg because
he has won a title shot. No matter, Iceberg holds the title of “God’s
Consolation Prize.†(Ouch, that hurts.) So before Dan Wilson rambles with
mystical rants involving Iceberg visited the Orient to drink the urine of the
platypus, the Universal Soldier doesn’t care. HH will be Iceberg’s last
match. A video clip rolls of Shatter jabbing Iceberg’s neck at War Games
2007. Shatter salivates over the footage. This time will be Iceberg’s last
time. Shatter prepares to personally address Iceberg, but the Reject’s
entrance music plays. The Rejects receive a small pop from the crowd. The
lights go out as the Rejects enter and Mikal Judas joins the fracas. The
Awesome Attraction joins in and embarrasses the tag champs. Judas delivers the
Kick of Fear to Tank. The Rejects retreat as Judas and the Awesome Attraction
stand tall.
OVERALL: This was a great set-up show heading into Hardcore Hell.

MAKE PLANS NOW FOR NWA EMPIRE'S
BUFFALO BEATDOWN II
(JUNE 21st)
Western New York wrestling fans will want to be
marking their calenders and making plans now to attend
NWA Empire's next show, Buffalo Beatdown II.
The show is being held June 21 at St. Johnsburg
Firehall (
Tonawanda
front of a packed standing room crowd, and the two
matches already signed will certainly guarantee
another packed house.
The indomitable Jonny Puma will be in the house for
Buffalo Beatdown II, once again defending his NWA
Empire Heavyweight Title. His opponent will be a
relative newcomer to NWA Empire in the form of
former OSPW Heavyweight Champion Blackjack Phoenix.
What makes this match-up so intriguing is the fact
that it was discovered recently that Jonny Puma was
trained for the ring by non-other than Blackjack
Phoenix himself. How will the student fare against the
teacher?
That may depend on the actions of Puma's posse of Ice
and "Wrestling Personified" Chris Cooper. They played
a big part in Puma's winning of the title from Pepper
Parks, and a small role in Puma's defense of the title
against Kevin Grace at the last NWA Empire show.
However
decided to get involved in the match, he will handle
both of them with as much ease as he plans to dominate
the student Puma. Blackjack recently posted
these comments to the Kayfabe Dojo Wrestling Official
Message Board:
"Truthfully, I taught Puma a lot, but I mentored him
none. He has no clue as to what I can do and
why…Puma's big mouth and adult A.D.D. like tactics are
what can throw off the best wrestlers in the world
and actually get the goof some victories. But he can
actually wrestle when pushed, I've seen him put his
silly little act aside and wrestle...well. I am
prepared for that. And may utilize some of that
British technique I picked up last fall. And if all
else fails, one big boot and a lariat and he will die.
As far as his "buddies" are concerned, I'd enjoy the
chance to knock their teeth out as well! I hope the
nearest hospital has a room with three beds so we
don't have to split these three "buddies" up!
June 21st, I will leave Wheatfield as the NWA Empire
Champion...and you Puma and your little metrosexual
girlly-man friends, will leave Wheatfield broken in
half. And if you try anything stupid before the
match, all 3 of you will leave in body bags!!!"
Both Jimmy Olsen and
problems with "Mastiff" Will Christianson of late.
Mastiff has used a plastic bag to smother both men in
recent matches. Well Jimmy and Pepper have decided
that they need to watch each others back, and have
challenged Mastiff to find a partner to face them at
NWA Empire's Buffalo Beatdown II.
It is interesting to note that Mastiff's aggressive
attitude grew slowly over a two year period, and began
at Buffalo Beatdown I on June 17, 2006. At that show,
Mastiff lost a quarter-final match to Jonny puma in
the inaugural NWA Empire Heavyweight Title Tournament.
Puma extended Mastiff his hand, but
was offered an obscene hand-gesture in return from an
angry Mastiff.
In addition to those two announced matches, at the
last NWA Empire show Ron Falco issued a challenge to
"Big Rig" Brodie Lee for a match at Buffalo Beatdown
II. Falco blames Brodie Lee for a loss in a tag team
match at NWA Blizzards and Brainbusters pitting Falco
and long-time partner and best friend Eric Everlast
against Rhythm & Booze.
Lee's interference in the match cost Ron and Eric the
match, which carried a stipulation that Ron and Eric
could no longer team together if they lost. Falco is
angry and out for blood. The match has yet to
officially be announced for the show, which may
indicate that the "Big Rig" has not yet accepted the
challenge. Nevertheless, Falco has stated that he will
stage a sitdown strike in mid-ring, and not allow the
show to go on unless Lee agrees to face him
one-on-one. Knowing Brodie Lee as I do, I'm sure he
will be there on June 21st to accept Ron Falco's
challenge, as Brodie rarely if ever backs down from
any challenge.
HELLCAT
SUFFERS LEG INJURY IN ATTACK. 2CW WRESTLERS
SUSPECTED
Late last week it was announced on the NWA Upstate
website (http://www.nwaupny.

NWA Empire owner Hellcat had been the victim of an

suspected that the attack was masterminded, and
possibly even perpetrated by members of the roster of
NWA Upstate and 2CW have been at odds for several
months, with Hellcat and several members of the NWA
Upstate roster making their presence known at several
2CW shows earlier in the year, and members of the 2CW

No word had been released on how severe Hellcat's
injury is, or whether it will keep him out of action
for any extended period

Based on the suspected actions of members of the 2CW

NWA Upstate management wasted no time in
getting plans underway for NWA Upstate's next show.
Continuing the Tradition IV will be held June 28th.

To avenge the suspected attack by 2CW, Hellcat has
issued a challenge to 2CW for a War Games style cage

This will be the fifth cage match in NWA Upstate's

this Saturday's show).
Also announced NWA Upstate's Continuing the Tradition
is an apperance by TNA Wrestling's "Showtime" Eric

anyone's guess which persona of Eric Young will
