Elite XC Heavyweight Division Fight
Dave Herman (10-0-0) vs. Ron “H2O” Waterman (15-5-2)
Dave Herman is a heavyweight fighter known for finishing his fights quickly, with nine of ten fights ending within the first round. Prior to becoming an Elite XC regular, Dave Herman was primarily featured in the Legends Of Fighting promotion. Speaking of Dave Herman’s finishing abilities, Dave Herman has finished seven opponents by knockout and three opponents by submission. Dave Herman must win this fight by keeping the fight standing to counter the wrestling abilities on Ron Waterman. Ron Waterman has been fighting in MMA for over a decade, competing in such promotions as the Ultimate Fighting Championship, World Extreme Cagefighting, PRIDE, Bodog Fight and Pancrase. Also, for you wrestling fans out there, Ron Waterman once took a break from MMA and was under a WWE developmental contract. Speaking earlier about his wrestling abilities, Ron Waterman has achieved seven career victories by submissions with six victories coming by knockout.
My Prediction: Dave Herman
Elite XC Heavyweight Division Fight
Wayne Cole (11-6-0) vs. Rafael Feijao (5-1-0)
Wayne Cole has been dominating the competition, especially in his last three fights, in which he finished his fights in under a minute of the first round. Prior to coming to Elite XC, Wayne Cole has fought in promotions like Strike Force, International Fight League and Masters Of The Cage. Wayne Cole is a very balanced fighter who can keep the fight standing or put in on the ground, with five victories coming by knockout and five coming by submission. Rafael Feijao is a rising fighter in the MMA world, who has yet to have a fight go to decision and his only career loss comes by disqualification. The biggest fight of Rafael Feijao’s career has come against former UFC veteran Marcio Cruz, whom he lost to be the aforementioned disqualification after an illegal kick. Rafael Feijao is a fighter who is more comfortable with keeping the fight on his feet, with four career victories coming by knockout.
My Prediction: Wayne Cole
Elite XC Middleweight Division Fight
Tony “The Gun” Bonello (16-0-1) vs. Murilo “Ninja” Rua (15-8-1)
Expect the fireworks to be plentiful in this fight, because this fight between Tony Bonello and Murilo Rua could easily be the best fight on the card. Of his seventeen career fights, sixteen of those seventeen fights never went past the opening round, while the other only went to round two. Prior to making his Elite XC debut, Tony Bonello has been fighting in King Of The Cage, Xtreme Fighting Organization and Pancrase. Tony Bonello is a ground fighting expert, with fourteen of sixteen career victories coming by way of submission. As most MMA fans probably know, Murilo Rua is the brother of UFC Light Heavyweight fighter Mauricio Rua. Murilo Rua competed in one of the most historical fights in Elite XC history, when he lost to Robbie Lawler in a fighter to determine the first Elite XC Middleweight Champion. Murilo Rua has fought a who’s who list of MMA personalities like Akihiro Gono, Dan Henderson, Kevin Randleman, Quinton Jackson, Paulo Folho, Dennis Kang, Joey Villasenor and Robbie Lawler. Like opponent Tony Bonello, Murilo Rua has achieved more than half of his career victories by submission.
My Prediction: Tony Bonello
Elite XC Lightweight Division Fight
Mushin Corbbrey (8-2-0) vs. Nick Diaz (16-7-0)
Mushin Corbbrey has been undefeated so far in Elite XC competition, defeating Lee Gibson in July 2007 and Bobby McMaster in October 2007. Mushin Corbbrey is a fighter who prefers to keep the fight grounded, with six career victories coming by submission. Also to the credit of Mushin Corbbrey, he has yet to be knocked out in any of his professional MMA fights so far. Before coming to Elite XC in 2007, Mushin Corbbrey has been fighting mostly in the Reality Superfighting group. Nick Diaz is a fighter who was one of the most popular welterweight fighters in the Ultimate Fighting Championship, but was never able to get a UFC Welterweight Title fight. Early in his career, Nick Diaz made it to the finals of the Ultimate Athletes 4 tournament before losing to Jeremy Jackson. Nick Diaz nearly scored the biggest victory of his career over Takanori Gomi at PRIDE 33, but a failed drug test overturned the original fight result. Besides competing in Elite XC, Nick Diaz is currently fighting in the Dream Lightweight Grand Prix 2008, where his is in the semi-finals.
My Prediction: Nick Diaz
Elite XC Lightweight Title Fight
KJ Noons *Champion* (6-2-0) vs. Yves Edwards (34-13-1)
KJ Noons is an MMA fighter who came out of nowhere to defeat Nick Diaz at Elite XC “Renegade” to become the Elite XC Lightweight Champion. Prior to that fight, KJ Noons had one previous fight in Elite XC, a loss to Charles Bennett, but got the title opportunity after Charles Bennett was caught using illegal substances after the fight. In his eight career fights, none of them has gone to decision and is a knockout artist, with all six career victories coming by knockout. Yves Edwards is one of the most underappreciated lightweight fights in MMA right now after competing in forty eight career fights. Yves Edwards has fought in nearly every major MMA promotion like the Ultimate Fighting Championship, PRIDE, Bodog Fight, World Extreme Cagefighting, Hook N’ Shoot, King Of The Cage and World Pankration Championships. Yves Edwards is a dangerous fighter who can compete with the fighter on the ground or standing up, with twenty seven victories coming by knockout or submission.
My Prediction: Yves Edwards
