Affliction Lightweight Division Fight
Trenell “Savant” Young (9-7-0) vs. “The Machine” Mark Hominick (15-8-0)
Trenell Young achieved the biggest victory of his career this past May when he defeated former PRIDE contender Takeshi Inoue in the Shooto: Shooto Tradition
1 event. Despite just breaking through the MMA barrier, Trenell Young has fought in King Of The Cage, World Extreme Cagefighting and International Fight
League. Trenell Young has fought UFC Ultimate Fighter 3 Champion Kendall Grove and IFL Lightweight Champion Ryan Schultz. Trenell Young will want to keep the
fight on the ground, with four of nine career victories coming by submission and in his career, Trenell Young has never been knocked out. Mark Hominick has
fought multiple times in the United States, but has yet to truly break through as an MMA contender stateside. Mark Hominick has seen most of his success come
from the TKO promotion out of Canada, where he has achieved nine of his fifteen victories. Unlike Trenell Young, Mark Hominick will want to keep the fight on
the feet, where he has achieved nine career victories by knockout. A victory in this fight for Mark Hominick could finally make him a contender in the United
States for the first time in his six year career.
My Prediction: Mark Hominick
Affliction Welterweight Division Fight
JJ Ambrose (8-1-0) vs. Mike “Quicksand” Pyle (16-5-1)
This could be the make or break fight for JJ Ambrose, who despite the impressive record, hasn’t been featured in top notch MMA promotions thus far in his
career. After suffering his only career loss in the second fight of his career, JJ Ambrose is now riding a seven fight winning streak. In fact, in his last
seven fights, none of JJ Ambrose’s fights has gone past two minutes of the second round. JJ Ambrose has spent the majority of his career in the Total
Fighting Alliance, where six of his nine professional bouts were held. JJ Ambrose is a fighter who will want to use his ground fighting skills to gain
victory, plus he has yet to suffer a loss by knockout or submission. Mike Pyle is a very experienced fighter who has seen time in the World Extreme
Cagefighting, Ultimate Fighting Championships, International Fight League, Elite XC, Strikeforce and Sengoku promotions. At one point in his career, Mike
Pyle was set to fight Jake Shields for the Elite XC Welterweight Title, but contractual issues with Elite XC caused their fight to be a non-title encounter.
Mike Pyle trains out of Xtreme Couture with estranged UFC Heavyweight Champion and has achieved thirteen career victories by submission.
My Prediction: Mike Pyle
Affliction Middleweight Division Fight
Ray Lizama (5-5-0) vs. Justin Levens (9-8-0)
This is a make or break fight for both fighters, because either way, a fighter is leaving the fight with at least a five hundred record or worse. Despite
having a five hundred record, Ray Lizama has fought in top notch MMA groups like King Of The Cage and ShoXC. Ray Lizama is a fighter known for finishing his
fights, with all five of his victories coming by submission and knockout. It has been nearly a year since Ray Lizama fought his last fight, which was an
August 2007 loss to Hector Urbina at ShoXC. Like his opponent Ray Lizama, Justin Levens doesn’t have the best MMA record, but has fought in top MMA
promotions like World Extreme Cagefighting, Ultimate Fighting Championships and International Fight League. During his time in the International Fight
League, Justin Levens fought current IFL Light Heavyweight Champion Vladimir Matyushenko in a losing effort. Justin Levens is currently on a five fight
losing streak, which could play a huge psychological role in this fight.
My Prediction: Justin Levens
Affliction Light Heavyweight Division Fight
Edwin “Babyface” Dewees (35-12-0) vs. Antonio Rogerio “Minotoro” Nogueira (13-3-0)
Most MMA fans will probably remember Edwin Dewees for his time as a cast member of the UFC Ultimate Fighter 4: The Comeback. In his nearly fifty fight MMA
career, Edwin Dewees has fought some of the best in MMA like Joe Stevenson, Drew Fickett, Rich Franklin, Chris Leben, Jorge Rivera and Frank Trigg. At three
separate times in his career, Edwin Dewees has competed in tournaments from the Rage In The Cage promotion, going undefeated with seven wins and no losses.
Edwin Dewees is easily one of the most underappreciated submission fighters actively competing in MMA today, with twenty eight of thirty five victories
coming by submission. Antonio Rogerio Nogueira is the identical twin brother of current UFC Interim Heavyweight Champion Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira. Like his
twin brother, Antonio Rogerio Nogueira has competed in the top MMA groups like Hook N’ Shoot, DEEP, PRIDE and Gladiator FC. In his illustrious MMA career,
Antonio Rogerio Nogueira has fought top MMA fighters like Dan Henderson, Vladimir Matyushenko, Guy Metzger, Kazushi Sakuraba, Alistair Overeem, Mauricio Rua
and Rameau Thierry Sokodjou. Like his opponent Edwin Dewees, Antonio Rogerio Nogueira will want to put this fight on the ground, with five career victories
coming by submission. Despite facing an opponent with twenty eight victories by submission in Edwin Dewees, Antonio Rogerio Nogueira has never been defeated
by submission thus far in his career.
My Prediction: Antonio Rogerio Nogueira
