- WWC will not have their regular house show/TV taping this weekend as they will
take a break after their Anniversary show last weekend and they do not want to
compete against the Miguel Cotto/Antonio Margarito PPV fight this Saturday
night. On the other hand, they have announced that TNA's "Fallen Angel"
Christopher Daniels will be facing the new Universal champion Noriega
on Saturday August 2nd in Bayamon, PR. Other matches announced for the show are
Orlando Colon vs Ray Gonazalez; Thunder & Lightning will take on Shane Twins in
a rematch from the Anniversary show; D'Jour Twins will defend the tag titles
against Texas Outlaws; the return of Sexy Marie, who will be taking on the WWC
Women's champion Killer Kat, amongst other matches.
- WWC's Rico Suave has had a message on his Facebook page in which he says that
the Anniversary show was a success, although he came out of it with a cast on
his left foot. From what I have been told, it is not a serious injury, although
they did put the foot in a cast as a precaution. Rico has already been
announced as participating of the August 1st and 2nd shows, where he will be
facing Huracan Castillo and Johnny Styles respectively.
- Newspaper "Primera Hora" in Puerto Rico is reporting that Valeria Polera
Toreli, better known in the local wrestling scene as "Havana" was arrested last
night while she was dancing at a strip club located in Santurce, PR. In total
there were 15 dancers that were arrested, including the owner of a modeling
agency that is located in the metro area. "Havana" is married to "El Leon"
Apollo (German Figueroa) who has been working for local indy promotion PRWA
recently. Last year, she had filed charges against Apollo for alleged domestic
violence, which led to his subsequent arrest and incarceration. The situation
was one of the reasons that Apollo's developmental deal never got going.
- PRWA had a double shot last Sunday in Ponce, PR. Here are the results of the
first show: Silver Kid succesfully defended his PRWA title defeating Mr.
Showtime Mike Dagger; Bandido defeated Demolition X to become the first
contender to the PRWA title. During this match there was interference from
Christian Taylor and Lider Castro who helped Bandido get the win. After the
match, they kept attacking Demolition X, which prompted Abbad, making his return
to PRWA, to come out for the save. Jumping Jeff Jeffrey & Erizo defeated
Religion Negra (Gansta & Logan). After the match was over, the other members of
Religion Negra, Edd Man & Lylx, came out to the ring and began to punish Jeffrey
and Erizo. Out of the locker rooms come Scream Gill and David Style to make the
save. After they clear the ring, Jeffrey, Erizo, Gill and Style all come
together to form the new stable of "La Rabia". (Note: This would be "La Rabia"
PRWA version as IWA-PR has most of the original members of the group, who last
year had invaded WWC.)
- As I mentioned in a previous column, IWA will be running their weekly house
show/TV taping on Sunday in Levitown (Toa Baja, PR). Some of the matches they
have announced so far are: Chicano vs. Rainstein & Spectro in a handicap match
that was mandated by Savio Vega; Chris Joel vs. Damian in a match mandated by
Miguel Perez; Intercontinental Title rematch when Mr. Big challenges
Superstar Romeo; Special Challenge Match when Vengador Boricua faces Rico
Casanova; and other matches. Also, during the show, the new IWA champion, Joe
Bravo, will have a special message for everyone.
