WWC held their first house show/TV taping after their Anniversary show on
Saturday night in Bayamon, PR. The following are the match results from the
show:
1. Wizard w/ Jeese "The Latin Freebird" and "Los Adorables" in his corner
defeated Paparazzi.
2. Rico Suave defeated Johnny Styles
3. Thunder & Lightning vs Shane Twins ended in a double DQ.
4. Sexy Marie defeated Killer Kat via DQ
5. Johnny Ringo defeated Crazy Rudy with some help from Huracan Castillo
6. The Texas Outlaws (Bad Boy Bradley & Todd Dean) defeated D'Jour Twins via DQ
7. BJ retained his Puertorican Title when he defeated Tommy Diablo via DQ
8. Orlando Colon defeated Ray Gonzalez after Chaparro failed in his attempt to
help Gonzalez get the win
9. Noriega retained his WWC Universal Heavyweight title after defeating "Fallen
Angel" Christopher Daniels with a roll up after interference from Avriela.
During the show, Ray Gonzalez came out with Tommy Diablo, Profe and Chaparro and
stated that he had accomplished his goal of making the Anniversary the night
where he finished the Colon's. He said he defeated Carlito as he said he would
and that now the Universal title was on his side in the hands of Noriega.
Noriega came out and made some comments regarding the Universal title regaining
the prestige it had in the past. He stated that now that the title was in his
possession, the title was once again shining and important. Gonzalez stood in
the ring looking at Noriega and did not seem too thrilled about these comments.
Out comes Orlando Colon to challenge him, but they instead say that would rather
beat him up and get him out of the way. Thunder & Lightning come out to back up
Colon. The Shane Twins then come out and start brawling with T&L.
After the Noriega/Daniels match was over, Orlando Colon came out to challenge
Noriega again to a rematch for the title. Ray Gonzalez sneaks from behind and
hits Colon with a chair shot to the back. They start beating Colon until BJ and
Rico Suave come out for the save as the show ended.
- I should have more details from the show later today. Just looking at the
match results, I do not understand the booking of the show. Way too many DQ's
and run-ins for my taste. Lets see how the show translates to in TV next
Saturday.
- I have to give them credit because they have "planted the seed" of a possible
feud between Noriega and Ray Gonzalez sometime down the road. It will be
interesting to see how they follow up in the next few weeks and months on this
one. Personally, I would like for them to work this storyline for some time,
just hinting and feeding it little by little. They can continue to work the
Orlando Colon/Noriega feud while they slowly build the heat between Noriega and
Gonzalez. This angle has the potential to make good money if they do not rush
it. I would think they would be able to stretch it until at least their January
2009 event (Euphoria) which is their first event of the year, or even until the
Anniversary show next year. I know that might seem like a long time to play
with the angle, but if they handle this story with care and are smart on the
booking, they can get a huge pay off in the end. Of course, that is just my
opinion.
