- WWC has announced FCW's develpmental talent "Black Pain" as next Saturday's
challenger for the Universal title when he will be facing Noriega in Bayamon,
PR. If you are not familiarized with "Black Pain", he had worked with WWC for
a couple of years before getting his opportunity at WWE's developmental
territory (FCW) at the beginning of 2008. This will be the first time he is
seen wrestling in Puerto Rico after joining FCW.
- During an interview for a local blog, WWC's Rico Suave (Julio Estrada)
hinted that he might be making a move to work with TNA in the near future. He
also hinted that he might be connected with LAX as he said to "expect LAX to
get even better soon". Rico Suave has been seen lately at a few tapings in
Orlando, FL. There is another WWC worker that has also been seen at the
tapings recently, but no word has surfaced regarding his status with TNA.
- IWA Puerto Rico held their
weekly house show/TV taping Sunday night in Manati, PR. The show was
headlined by a match that put Blitz & Chicano defeating "Faces of Fear",
Spectro & Rainstein. After the match and for no apparent reason, Blitz took a
baseball bat and started to swing away at anything that moved, including his
tag team partner Chicano and members of the stable "La Rabia" of which Blitz
is part of. No explanation was given for his actions during the show.
Hopefully they will have something taped to present during their TV next
week. If not, well lets just say that it is not uncommon for them to change
gears in the middle of an angle and not explain the reasons that led to it.
Hmmmm... Where have I seen that before?....
- Another match during the show had Joe Bravo against Mr. Big. Bravo retained
the IWA title with some help from Superstar Romeo. After the match, Richard
Rondon came to the ring and got into a brawl with Romeo. Rondon has been
"banned" form action because of an "injury to his eye" that he sustained in
his last match with Romeo about 2 months ago. The feud between Romeo and
Rondon has been going on for a little over 3 months now and they have been
taking the time to build it. Unlike other angles they are currenltly running
with, this one has been worked slowly and giving it the time and space it
needs to gain the heat it needs for a good payoff. Did I mentioned that these
are not main workers? Well, they are not, still the company seems to be doing
with this angle what they should be doing with their main event angles.
The complete match results from IWA's house show/TV taping this past Saturday
night from Manati, PR saw:
1. Zaeir Arafat w/ Imam Ali defeated Onix in a "Humilliation Match"
2. "La Rabia" (Xteffy & Niche) defeated The Cyber Disasters I & II
3. Match ordered by Savio Vega: Chris Joel defeated Giant Manson
4. IWA Puerto Rico Title match: Hardam Kadafi w/ Imam Ali retained the title
defeating El Bakano
5. Intergender Tag Team Match: Genesis & Barbie Boy defeated Shaka "The
Trucker" and Black Rose
6. IWA Tag Team title match: "Cruz del Diablo" (Cruzz & Diabolico) vs "Los
Duenos de la Malicia" (Dennis Rivera & Noel Rodriguez) went to a double DQ.
Dennis & Noel are still the champions. This is said to have been a bloody
battle where both teams attacked each other with whatever they were able to
get their hands on.
7. IWA Hardcore title match / Mask vs. Hair: "Totin The Clown" retained his
Hardcore title defeating "Mr Pleasure" Raymond Zales. In this match, Zales
lost his hair. Totin received help from Niche and Xteffy after the match
ended to be able to cut Zales hair.
8. IWA Champion Joe Bravo defeated IWA Intercontinental Champion Mr Big after
interference from Superstar Romeo. As I mentioned in my partial report
earlier, Richard Rondon came in looking for Romeo. They both brawled and were
separated several times, until finally security was able to escort Rondon out
of the arena and take Romeo to the locker room.
9. Blitz & Chicano defeated "The Faces of Fear" Spectro & Rainstein w/ Savio
Vega.
During the match, Savio would distract Chicano every time Blitz came looking
for the tag. When Chicano finally received the hot tag, he came in and
cleaned house. Later he was being dominated by Spectro and Rainstein.
When he went to his corner looking for a tag from his partner, Blitz left the
ring and went back to the locker room. Chicano somehow survived a hard
beating at the hands of the Faces of Fear, and found a way to get the victory
by himself. After the match ended, Savio Vega came in the ring to attacked
Chicano with Rainstein and Spectro, but out comes Blitz. Savio asked Blitz to
join in the attack and gave him his baseball bat. Xteffy and Niche came out
to see what was going on and when they were coming to the ring Blitz took a
swing at them with the bat. Savio was celebrating and when he turns around
Blitz took a swing at him too. He keeps swinging the bat, hitting anything
that moved, including Spectro, Rainstein and his partner Chicano. "Los
Autenticos" come out and are finally able to stop him. They attacked Blitz
and Chicano until they are able to get back up and get start making a come
back with the help of Niche and Xteffy. After "Los Autenticos" leave the
ring, Blitz and Chicano find themselves in a stare down, with Niche and Xteffy
asking Blitz to join them and Chicano, but he refuses and leaves the ring
area.
- On other notes from IWA-PR... Due to Telemundo-PR being part of NBC's 2008
Olympics coverage, the weekly IWA show that is normally on Saturdays, will not
air for the next three weeks. In order to still have their product seen, they
will have their shows presented by two cable companies (Choice Cable and
Liberty Cable) on their dedicated cable channels. IWA-PR will be returning to
Telemundo-PR on August 30th in their regular timeslot from 1PM to 3PM.
Interesting to note is the fact that during the weeks in which they will be
running their TV with the cable companies, the show will air from 11AM to 1PM,
which will put their second hour head to head against WWC's TV show that is
shown on WAPA America from 12PM to 1PM. Although this may not be exactly
direct competition, as WAPA America can be seen as a local channel while you
will need to be a paying customer of one of the cable companies to be able to
see IWA's show in the coming weeks, it would be interesting to compare their
ratings and see where they stand.
- PRWA held their weekly house show this past Friday night in Juana Diaz,
PR. During the show, Mike Dagger defeated David Style. He also defeated
Scream Hill. Dagger and Bandido formed a new alliance and stated they will be
watching each other's back. "Los Aereos" (Sensational Carlitos & Hirma Tua)
retained their PRWA Tag titles after they defeated "La Rabia" (Erizo & Jumping
Jeff Jeffrey). During the match, the Dagger brothers made an interference
that cost "La Rabia" the match. PRWA has a new Heavyweight champion as
Bandido defeated Silver Kid. The Dagger brothers also interfered in this
match and helped Bandido become the new PRWA champion. In a match that Chicky
Starr asked for during his "Chicky Starr Sports Shop" segment, former IWA
Hardcore champion, Bolo "The Red Bulldog" defeted Gansta while Masato Takemura
defeated Kasama.
