- During this last weekend, WWC had announced that current WWE developmental
talent, "Black Pain", would be challenging Noriega for the Universal title.
Unfortunately, "Black Pain" will not be able to make his much anticipated return
to Puerto Rico, at least not right now. Due to previous commitments with FCW in
Florida, he will not be making the trip back to the island this weekend.
Instead, WWC has announced his replacement: Shane "The Glamour Boy". Shane had
relocated a while back to Florida due to having accepted a position with TNA.
He currently resides in the Tampa, FL area and works in the training and
development of TNA's young talent, as well as referee with the company. Shane
has not worked for WWC since 2006 when he had been part of a talent exchange
between the now defunct NWS and WWC. During this run, he won the Universal
title and held it for approximately 3 months, before losing it to Bryan. After
NWS folded, he went back to work with IWA-PR for a few months, before accepting
the contract with TNA and slowly fading out of the wrestling scene in PR. He
had made some appearances for IWA-PR last year, which is the reason why it is
surprising to see him back in WWC. The information that I have received is
that, just as "Fallen Angel" Christopher Daniels' appearance last Saturday, this
will be a one shot deal. Still, for a one night shot, his match with Noriega
should be very entertaining. This should also be a true test for Noriega to
proof that he is ready to carry the title and the company, as for the second
week in a row, he will be facing another ring veteran.
- During an interview that was filmed a couple of weeks ago, IWA's Savio Vega
was asked about the situation earlier this year that involved Mario Savoldi
taking possession of IWA's video library,as well as a lot of the company's
equipment. Savio referred to Savoldi as "the thief", "the son-of-a-b...h", "the
"c&^%su(*&#" and some other very "colorful" expletives. He then stated that
Savoldi had stolen everything, but through legal remedies, they have been able
to recover at least 3/4 of what was in Savoldi's hands. Allegedly, they (Vega
and partner Miguel Perez) are still looking for some other things that have not
been returned, including a large portion of their video library. During the
same interview, Vega was asked if there was any truth to the comments made by
Jose Chaparro (currently with WWC) at the beginning of the year, in which he
stated that he had made an offer to Vega to make a comeback to WWC during the
November event "Crossfire". Vega limited his answer to stating that if he
wanted to do business he would "talk to the head of the horse, not the horse's
a$$", referring to Chaparro.
- IWA has posted on their website (www.iwapr.tv)
that "The Buffalo" Bison Smith will be returning to the company to challenge the
IWA champion Joe Bravo for his title. The match is scheduled to take place this
Saturday night when they will be holding their weekly house show/TV taping in
Levitown. Bison is known for his regular appearances in Japan, where he works
with Pro Wrestling NOAH.
- Other matches announced for the show are: for the second consecutive show,
Chicano and Blitz will team up to go up against "Faces of Fear" Spectro and
Rainstein; an IWA IC title rematch between Mr. Big and Romeo; and also an IWA
Tag Team title rematch between "Cruz del Diablo" (Diabolico & Cruzz) and "Duenos
de la Malicia" (Noel Rodriguez & Dennis Rivera) inside a steel cage.
- IWA has also announced that fans will not only be able to see their shows on
Liberty and Choice Cable during the next 3 weekends, but anyone who misses the
shows or just wants to watch them again, will be able to access them on the
company website,
www.iwapr.tv.
