Sho XC Women’s 140lb. Division Fight
Debi “Whiplash” Purcell (4-1-0) vs. Rosi Sexton (8-1-0)
Despite having an excellent record in MMA competition, it has been over two years since Debi Purcell last competed in MMA competition. Prior to her extended break from MMA, Debi Purcell competed in King Of The Cage, Hook N’ Shoot and Smack Girl. In an interesting note, in the past six years, Debi Purcell has only competed in two MMA fights, a victory over Nicole Albrect in October 2002 and a loss to Hitomi Akano in February 2006. Expect Debi Purcell to using her striking skills to gain victory, with two of four career victories coming by knockout. Speaking of extended breaks between MMA fights, it has been nearly a year since Rosi Sexton last competed in MMA competition. Prior to taking a year off from competition, Rosi Sexton competed in such promotions as Pride & Glory, Bodog Fight and Cage Warriors. In late 2006, Rosi Sexton competed against top female MMA star Gina Carano and last to her in the second round of their fight by TKO. Rosi Sexton will be looking to ground her opponent to gain victory, with six of eight victories coming by submission.
My Prediction: Rosi Sexton
King Of The Cage Light Heavyweight Title Fight
Keith “KO Kid” Berry *Champion* (6-2-0) vs. Ray Lizama (5-5-0)
Keith Berry has fought five of eight career fights in the King Of The Cage promotion, but has also seen time in World Extreme Cagefighting. Early in his career, Keith Berry fought and lost to former UFC and current Affliction star Terry Martin by TKO. Keith Berry is undefeated in King Of The Cage competition with five victories, last winning by defeating Omar Luv in December 2007. Keith Berry is known for finishing his fights, with all six of his victories coming by knockout and submission. Ray Lizama is also a well traveled King Of The Cage veteran who has fought top MMA talent like Aaron Wetherspoon, Fabio Negao and Hector Urbina. This could be a fight that comes down to conditioning for Ray Lizama, who has not fought in nearly a year since losing to Hector Urbina at Sho XC in August 2007. Like his opponent Keith Berry, Ray Lizama is known for finishing his fights with all five of his victories coming by knockout and submission.
My Prediction: Keith Berry
Sho XC Light Heavyweight Division Fight
Cyrille “Snake” Diabate (11-6-1) vs. Jaime Fletcher (6-3-0)
Cyrille Diabate is a very underrated fighter who has already taken on MMA veterans like Renato Sobral, Mauricio Rua and Manny Gamburyan. Cyrille Diabate also competed in such organizations as PRIDE, Cage Wars, Cage Rage and M-1 MFC. Height could play a large factor in this fight because Cyrille Diabate has a six inch height advantage over Jaime Fletcher. Cyrille Diabate will be looking to keep the fight on he feet, with six of eleven career victories coming by knockout. Jaime Fletcher was well on his way to becoming a top fighter in MMA until his five fight undefeated streak that kicked off his career came to an end and he went on a three fight losing streak. Jaime Fletcher was a mainstay in the Invincible promotion, but has also competed in Sho XC, Pancrase and Combat In The Cage. Unlike his opponent, Jaime Fletcher will be looking to put the fight on the ground, with three of six career victories coming by submission.
My Prediction: Cyrille Diabate
Sho XC Welterweight Division Fight
Fabricio “Morango” Camoes (8-4-0) vs. Sam “The Squeeze” Morgan (19-10-0)
Until he competed in Sho XC in April 2008, Fabricio Camoes never competed in the United States, but has fought UFC veteran Gleison Tibau in July 2005. Fabricio Camoes has competed in such promotions as Iron Fight, Meca World Vale Tudo and Super Challenge. Prior to returning to MMA competition for Sho XC in April 2008, Fabricio Camoes last fought in October 2006, defeating Mauro Chimento Jr. by submission. In fact, that previously mentioned fight was the finals over the Super Challenge 1 Tournament won by Fabricio Camoes, who also defeated Jean Silva and Luciano Azevedo in the tournament. Fabricio Camoes will look to put this fight on the ground with four of eight career victories coming by submission. Most MMA fans will remember Sam Morgan as a cast member on the UFC Ultimate Fighter 2, but hasn’t been seen in the UFC after the show ended. Sam Morgan is a very experienced fighter who has fought the likes of Aaron Riley, Manny Gamburyan, Duane Ludwig, Josh Burkman, Forrest Petz, Cung Le and Paul Daley. Sam Morgan has also competed in such promotions as the UFC, Strike Force, King Of The Cage, Ultimate Wrestling, Shooto USA, Ring Of Fire and Sho XC. Like Fabricio Camoes, Sam Morgan will be looking to put this fight on the ground to attain victory with thirteen career victories coming by submission.
My Prediction: Sam Morgan
Sho XC Light Heavyweight Division Fight
Jared Hamman (9-1-0) vs. Poai Suganuma (9-1-0)
This fight is a rematch from the April 2008 Sho XC event where Jared Hamman lost to Poai Suganuma with via a flying knee strike mere seconds into the first round. Prior to the loss, Jared Hamman was an undefeated fighter who has fought and defeated elite fighters like Aaron Rosa, Travis Wiuff and Ray Lizama. Last year in July 2007, Jared Hamman won the IFC Global Domination 2 Tournament defeating Rogent Lloret and Travis Wiuff. Jared Hammon will be looking to gain victory in this fight by keeping the fight on his feet, with seven of nine career victories coming by knockout. Besides his one other appearance in the United States competing in Icon Sport, Poai Suganuma’s only other stateside appearance came in his victory over Jared Hamman in Sho XC. Besides his two stateside appearances, Poai Suganuma competed in MMA organizations like Pancrase, Power Gate and K-1 Hero’s. The fifteen second knockout of Jared Hamman in the April 2008 Sho XC event was the quickest victory of his career. Poai Suganuma will be looking to keep the fight standing as well, with four of nine career victories coming by knockout.
My Prediction: Poai Suganuma
