Is It Real?
Professional wrestling has always been a
wild and crazy business. Eddie Graham and Boris Malenko had a bloody battle in
the first ever Russian Chain Match in Tampa Florida. Fritz Von Erich and Dory
Funk Sr. had the first Texas Death Match in Amarillo, Texas. In Miami Florida
I would go into the ring for the last match on the card with blood staining
the canvas left over from the violence that preceded the World Heavyweight
Championship Match.
Good wrestling has always been a violent
business with a grasp for credibility. The World Heavyweight Championship was
the strongest reach for credibility in professional wrestling. With past
champions like Lou Thesz, Pat O'Connor, Gene Kiniski, Dick Hutton and the
promotional leaders like Dory Funk Sr. Sam Muchnick, Eddie Graham, Vince
McMahon Sr. and Jim Crockett Sr. and Gordon Sole as wrestling commentator
wrestling fans took pride in the professional wrestling product.
