- The EWO and its parent company Wrestlevent Entertainment have developed a
website to inform the fans about everything that is happening with this new
company. The address for the site is
www.wrestlevent.com. Currently on the site you can find information
regarding the contract signings of the TV announcing team, the referees, as well
as information regarding contract negotiations with a former wrestler to become
part of their creative team.
- Staying with EWO, there are more news coming out of their offices today.
First of all, they have stated that they will be making a major announcement on
Monday August 25th, sometime during the day. This announcement will
be regarding the signing of what they referred too as being the key piece of
their roster. As soon as this announcement is made on Monday, we will be
bringing it to you. Also, they have scheduled a press conference to talk about
the company and to promote their first ever event, which will be taking place on
Sunday August 31st at Arena Pier 10 in San Juan, PR. We will also bring you the
details of what happens there.
Wrestlevent Entertainment and the EWO have also completed a TV deal with local
channel 24 (CaribeVision) and will have regular programming starting on Sunday
September 7th from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM. Not only are they getting two hours of
regular programming from the start, but they will also be broadcasting at the
same time in the Miami and New York markets, which should give the local talent
the exposure they look for outside of the island. Their TV show will be called
"EWO Knockdown Sunday".
I would like to say that sources very close to the company have told me that the
EWO executive staff, from top to bottom, is very professional and they have
treated everyone they are dealing with a lot of respect and deference. I had
commented to Mike that something that has caught my attention is that they are
signing their staff as well as their talent to contracts. This will give them a
sense of stability, as it should prevent the constant "jumps" back and forth
from one company to the other when things are not going the way the
workers expect. I have also been told that the other new promotion that will
debut in the island in near future (NWE-PR), has also started to strike deals
with staff and talent, and will also be working through contract signings. Most
likely, this will force the other companies to take a hard look at the way they
currently do business. They might have to think about locking down at least
their top talent to contracts, in order for them to be able to ensure they will
not loose their stars to a competitor.
