- IWA-PR held their weekly house show/TV taping this past Saturday in Levittown,
PR. Partial match results from the card put Richard Rondon becoming the new IWA
Intercontinental champion after defeating Romeo in a Streetfight; "Cruz del
Diablo" Cruzz & Diabolico defeated "Faces of Fear"; IWA World Heavyweight
champion Joe Bravo retained his belt when he defeated Bison Smith after
interference from Savio Vega; Chris Joel defeated Giant Manson & Ragnar in a
handicap match; and "Los Dueños de la Malicia" Dennis & Noel defeated Chicano &
Blitz via DQ after interference from "Faces of Fear" Spectro & Rainstein, "Cruz
del Diablo", Hardam Kadafi y Zaeir Arafat. All these tag teams began argue that
they deserve a tag title ooportunity. The brawl continued amongst all these
teams while Dennis & Noel left the ring. The figure out that their belts are
still in the ring and come back to get them. When they are about to pick them
up, "Faces of Fear" stepped on them and this launched a very heated argument
between both teams. Just when it was going to get physical, Savio Vega comes to
the ring and tells Dennis & Noel to leave, which they do. Then Vega turns to
"Faces of Fear" and starts yelling at them for messing with the champions, when
instead, they should be helping them. He pushed both wrestlers and then he
slapped them. Spectro & Rainstein could not hold anymore and unleashed an
attacked on Vega until Dennis & Noel made the save.
- IWA will return back to Levittown this Saturday night for their weekly show.
They have announced so far a return match for the IWA Tag Team titles between
Chicano & Blitz and Dennis & Noel (C's). Savio Vega did put one stipulation for
the match and that is that Joe Bravo will be the "special guest referee". Also
on the card Chris Joel will face a "mystery opponent" brought in by Miguel
Perez; Chicano & Blitz will battle against "Faces of Fear" in an "Extreme Rules
Match"; Joe Bravo will defend his IWA title once again when he faces Bison
Smith, and this time Savio Vega can not be present on Bravo's corner. When/if
they release a full card, we will bring it to you as soon as we have it.
- PRWA held their weekly show last week in Peñuelas, PR. The card saw Silver
Kid defeating Bandido in a non-title match; in a handicap match Carlito and "The
Daggers" were defeated by "La Religion Negra", thus R.N. became the new PRWA Tag
champions. For this match, Hiram Tua could not be present as "Religion Negra
messed his car up so he could not make it". In other results Erick Scorpion
defeated Bolo "The Red Bulldog" with help from The Daggers and Bandido. After
the match ended, they all took advantage of Bolo, while Bandido brought barbwire
to the ring and proceeded to tie it up all around Bolo's body, until Hammet and
Silver Kid came in for the save. Bolo was taken out on a stretcher and sent on
his way in the ambulance. Hammet and Silver Kid were then attacked by the
Daggers and Bandido. After a coupld of minutes of beating, the sound of an
ambulance siren was heard and it Bolo coming back to the arena, driving the
ambulance nonetheless.
- PRWA will be holding their annual event "Purgatory" this Friday in Adjuntas,
PR. The only match announced up too now has been Bolo "The Red Bulldog" facing
Bandido with the ring sorrounded by barbwire. They are thinking about
implementing a different concept in their company. They have talked about
having all the current champions turn in their belts. Once they have complied,
they will have a tournament on every show to determine who the "King of the
Hexagon" is. With this concept, they want to give a different look and at the
same time, try to engage the crowd in attendance every night they present a
show. It is believed that they might give the concept a try this weekend.
- Last week we reported that IWA talents "La Morena" and "Barbie Boy" had agreed
to work with PRWA starting at the "Purgatory" event this Friday. On Saturday,
these 2 talents showed up at the IWA show and did an interview for a local
internet commentary show, in which they stated that they had negotiated with
PRWA but not made reached any agreements and that they were staying with the IWA.
After those comments were made, the PRWA did a press release in which they
detailed step by step how the conversations with both talents started and what
had been agreed with them, without disclosing the amount of money they had been
offered. It turns out that the talents were the ones that had started the
contacts, as they "did not want to work at IWA anymore" for "rea$on$" that were
not disclosed. As it stands right now, they have wished them success in their
future endevours as PRWA is no longer interested in doing business with them.
- This certainly has not been the best week for WWC as they had to cancel their
weekly house show last Saturday in Florida. The reason for the cancellation was
alleged to have been last minute problems with the venue. They are expected to
be back in action this weekend, although it has not been announced when or
where.
- The news of current WWC Universal champion, Noriega, leaving the company this
week was a huge blow to the momentum the company was starting to regain. There
were storylines and angles that had been planned for different feuds to take
place and have him as a long term champion. Also they were working on the
Noriega/Ray Gonzalez angle every week, presenting situations in which they would
be put at odds and having disagreements. They were not rushing the angle as
they had thought about stretching it as much as they could, with it maybe
culminating in match at their first show of next year or at Anniversary 2009.
Noriega left WWC and signed earlier this week with new promotion EWO. It was
said by Noriega himself that he still has posession of the Universal title belt
and that he will return it once they determine what the best course of action is
to resolve their problem$.
