Strikeforce Lightweight Division Fight
Mike Davis (0-1-0) vs. OJ Dominguez (0-0-0)
Mike Davis enters the fight having only one previous fight, a loss to Jeremy Ashley by submission at Legends Of Fighting in October 2006. It will be nearly two years between fights for Mike Davis, who with only one prior fight, could have a huge conditioning issue. OJ Dominguez is making his professional MMA debut and it is against a fighter with only one professional fight, so his inexperience will not be playing much of a factor in this fight.
My Prediction: OJ Dominguez
Strikeforce Lightweight Division Fight
Gennaro Strangis (0-0-0) vs. Alex Trevino (2-0-0)
This could be an interesting fight for Gennaro Strangis, who is making his professional MMA debut against a fighter whoʼs two previous wins have come in dominating fashion. Alex Trevino is an undefeated fighter who holds victories over Justin Farmer in May 2008 and Adrian Henderson in March 2007. This will be the third different promotion Alex Trevino has fought in, with his other two fights occurring in Cage Combat and Full Contact Fight Series. Alex Trevino is comfortable fighting on the ground and on the feet, with his two victories coming by knockout and submission.
My Prediction: Alex Trevino
Strikeforce Featherweight Division Fight
Hussain Rasouli (1-0-0) vs. Jonathan Arce (0-0-0)
With the rise in popularity of the lighter weight classes in MMA (bantamweight, featherweight, etc.), this could be a fight featuring two rising stars in MMA. Hussain Rasouli won his only previous MMA fight by knockout, so he will be looking to keep the fight on the feet. Unlike the first fight I previewed, Jonathan Arce will not have the edge in his MMA debut due to the short length of spans between fights for Hussain Rasouli and that fact that his opponent is undefeated.
My Prediction: Hussain Rasouli
Strikeforce Bantamweight Division Fight
Eric Bastile (1-0-0) vs. Adam Antolin (2-0-0)
Eric Bastile is a fighter who earned his only professional MMA victory by defeating Cody Daniels by TKO in the inaugural Warriors Of The Cage event. That fight lasted under a minute and occurred over a year ago for Eric Bastile, so conditioning could play a factor here. Adam Antolin competed in the previous Strikeforce Young Guns event, defeating Hugo Govea by submission in the first round. The other victory in Adam Antolinʼs career came at Pure Combat last month, where he defeated Ben Flores by submission. It is an obvious strategy on the part of Adam Antolin to put this fight on the ground, with all his prior victories coming by submission.
My Prediction: Adam Antolin
Strikeforce Heavyweight Division Fight
Yohan Banks (1-1-0) vs. David Ashkinaz (1-0-0)
Yohan Banks is a fighter who competed in the first ever Strikeforce Young Guns event, defeating Joey Beltran by decision. The only career loss in Yohan Banks career took place at Gladiator Challenge 75 to John Devine by knockout. Yohan Banks does have a background in boxing, so expect him to use those striking skills to gain his second victory. David Ashkinaz is an undefeated fighter who has gained the only victory of his career by knockout, so expect to see a slugfest here.
My Prediction: Yohan Banks
Strikeforce Light Heavyweight Division Fight
Chris Bostick (2-2-0) vs. Jorge Interiano (1-0-0)
Chris Bostick is one of the most experiences fighters competing at the event, having primarily competed in the Gladiator Challenge and Global Knockout promotions. In his career, Chris Bostick has competed against Mark Cantu, Ty Montgomery, Carl Seumanutafa and Jeff Quinlian. Chris Bostick won both of his fights by submission, but has suffered both of his career losses by knockout. Jorge Interiano competed at the last Strikeforce event, Strikeforce: Melendez vs. Thompson, where he was victorious over Travis Johnson by TKO. Jorge Interianoʼs striking ability is perfectly suited for a fight with Chris Bostick, who suffered both his losses by knockout.
My Prediction: Jorge Interiano
