It has been a busy week in the island and there is a lot to talk about, so lets
get started.
- WWC was in action last Saturday night in Naguabo, PR, where they
celebrated "Fan Night" with special ticket prices for everyone. Some of the
results from the card saw Thunder & Lightning becoming the new WWC Tag Team

Castillo defeated Tommy Diablo via DQ after Charles Evans made his debut by
attacking Castillo during the match along with Ray Gonzalez; Charles Evans
defeated "Man-Beast" Angel (former IWA-PR Hardcore champion); Ray Gonzalez
defeated "Hombre de la Mascara" (Masked Man).
- WWC's "Septiembre Negro" (Black September) event is scheduled to take place
this weekend with cards on Friday night in Manati, PR and the big night being
Saturday in Bayamon, PR. The Friday show will be headlined by "Glamour Boy"
Shane Sewell (TNA referee) facing Steve Corino, Lightning against Ray González,
and in a "grudge match" Huracán Castillo will battle with Tommy Diablo w/
Avriela & bodyguard Aquiles. As you will see, there are some known names being
advertised on the Saturday card, which on paper looks like it can be a really
good one:

Sabu vs "King of Old School" Steve Corino
WWC Tag Team Title Match
Thunder & Lightning (c) vs "Renegados del Infierno" (Hell's Renegades)

- Steve Corino has posted on his website that he indeed has committed to at
least six months with WWC in Puerto Rico. He will still keep some of the
international dates he already has on schedule and his promotion "3Kwrestling"
will still run shows. You can check out his latest Corino Chronicle's entry by

- There is a note on IWA's website where they mention that the company has been
in conversations with a former World Champion to join the company, and that
those conversations have now turned into negotiations. There has been a lot of
speculation as to the identity of who the person is, but no-one knows for
certain. I have talked to people close to the company and they have told me
that the news should come out fairly soon if everything goes as planned. There
are a couple of names of possible talents they might be talking about, although
it would only be guessing at this point. As always, we will bring you the scoop
as soon as we are able to confirm.
- A source in the island had called me last week to tell me that IWA was trying
to come to an agreement with the owners of WhiteLion Records in PR. I did not
mention it here because I had not been able to confirm the rumor, but this week
I was able to get the information although with not that many details. IWA has
already acknowledged on their website that they are in conversations with the
company. At this point it is uncertain what kind of agreement the promotion is
looking for.

- PRWA will finally hold their "Purgatory" event this weekend in Barranquitas,
PR. This will be their first event outside of their comfort zone as they have
always been known for staying close to their base in Ponce, PR (South portion of
the island). The event will be headlined by a "Barbwire Match" between Erick
Scorpion & Bolo "The Red Bulldog". Also appearing on the show will be Chicky
Starr, Hiram Tua, Carlitos, Jumping Jeff Jeffrey, Masato Takemura and more.

A lot has happened during this past week regarding the new promotion Extreme
Wrestling Organization and their parent company Wrestleven Entertainment.
- On Sunday it was announced that Wrestlevent Entertainment had come to terms
with EWO and their business relationship was terminated. No reasons were given
at the time. WE CEO, Jose "Pepe" Garcia, stated at the time that their event
"Knockdown", scheduled for Sunday 9/21 was still on and that it would take place
in Yabucoa, PR. EWO's owner, Montana, also made a statement that soon the
promotion will be back with a new project.
- Also on Sunday night, WE CEO Jose Garcia released a statement in which he
faulted "the other 2 big companies" (WWC & IWA) for making it so hard to bring
something different to the fans in the island. He stated that it has been
practically impossible to be able to operate from the moment they made the first
announcement and up to this point. If you would like to read his full
statement, you may do so by clicking
here. (NOTE: The statement has been provided by our friend Javier Gonzalez
and the local wrestling site luchalibreonline.tv. It is in Spanish)
- On Monday morning it was announced that TV announcers Axel Cruz & Nelson
Centeno were gone from WE as their agreement had been made with EWO's owner
Montana and not with WE.
- Later in the morning it was announced that referee Eliezer Rosado was no
longer with either of the companies.
- Also on Monday there was a statement made by Jose Huertas Gonzalez (Invader
#1) in which he wa letting everyone know that he was no longer associated with
either one of the companies.
- Later in the evening, EWO's owner Montana released a statement in which he
declared that the split had happened for reasons that were beyond their control
but that they were satisfied with their work and wished the best of luck to WE
and their CEO Jose Garcia. If you like to read the short statement by EWO, you
may do so by clicking
here. (It is in Spanish)
- Close to midnight on Monday we received a statement from promoter Osvaldo Ruiz
and his company Creative Artist Entertainment in which he was letting everyone
know that they had also forgone any kind of business relationship with WE and EWO.
Ruiz also stated that his company is working on giving the wrestling fans in the
island a surprise. He stated that the announcement will be made public very
soon.
- Thursday evening, WE sent a short press release in which they state that this
Sunday's event in Yabucoa, PR will now be called "Fan Fest" instead of
"Knockdown". Also, it announces some of the talent that will be participating
of this show: Jumping Jeff Jeffrey, Xteffy, Mr. Big, Vértigo, Havok and Voodooman,
amongst others. This event will now be free of charge.
As you all can see, it has been a crazy week in the island. I am still working
on getting some exclusive information to bring to you. As always stay tuned to
PWInsiderXtra.com as we will update you as soon as the information becomes
available.
