Bracket A, Round 1:  Kevin Steen & El Generico vs. Nigel McGuinness & Go Shiozaki

Go and El Generico begin with a lock up.  Generico chops Go out of the break.  Shiozaki brushes it off, literally.  Collar and elbow is quickly broken and Generico with another chop.  Arm drags by Generico, avoiding chops.  Go gets one chop, but Generico with another arm drag.  Go has enough and repeatedly chops Generico to the mat.

Steen tags in and wants Nigel.  Go obliges and Nigel tags in.  Collar and elbow ends up on the ropes.  Nigel chops off the break and tags Go back in.  Heh.  Go is Nigel's opponent the next night, by the way.  Sit down mark in the crowd yelling at the wrestlers.  No one paid to see you.  Go and Steen charge each other (have I mentioned how overused this spot is in ROH?).  Neither man can get the other off their feet.  Steen uses Go's momentum to send him over the top.  He goes to dive out by Nigel trips him.  Generico leaps off Steen's back and wipes out Nigel on the floor.

In the ring, Nigel sits on the arm with his knee.  Generico kicks Nigel and tags out as Nigel sets the Jawbreaker up.  Steen in with a clothesline, atomic drop, and enziguri to Nigel, followed by the cannonball splash in the corner.  Five minutes remain.  I know where this is going!  Tower of London connects to Nigel and Go tags in.  Go and Steen with another forearm exchange.  Superkick by Go, followed by a Fisherman's Buster for two.  Go catches Steen on a charge and sits him on the top rope.  Go chops him to the mat and drives Steen's face to the mat with a knee drop to the back of the head.

Tag Team Title Finals:  Age of the Fall vs. Kevin Steen & El Generico

After a standoff, all men start brawling.  Steen causes Black to bail, then he knocks Jacobs down and out of the ring.  Black and Steen fight on the floor and Jacobs and Generico go at it in the entranceway.  Jacobs goes after the shoulder, but Steen assists his partner.  Steen claws at Jacobs' face.  Black claws at Steen's face.  Generico sets up a chair, but Black fights him off and gives Generico a back drop across the chair.  He shouldn't bend like that.

Steen tries to fight both men, but he gets tripped, then choked by Black.  Jacobs tags in and stays on the knee.  Black in to focus on the knee now.  He ties up Steen's legs on the mat and gets some leverage from Jacobs.  Steen slaps at Black, but he can't escape the hold.  Steen blows snot on Black and eventually makes the ropes.  Jacobs tags in and comes off the second rope onto the knee.

Your winners and NEW ROH Tag Team Champions, Age of the Fall!

Garbage rains down on AOTF after the match.  Jacobs calls AOTF unstoppable.

Match thoughts:

SnS, Inc. vs. Vulture Squad was mostly boring, picking up a bit towards the end.  It was nice to see Eddie Kingston after the match, as I think he is THE East Coast talent that ROH should be booking regularly, and he could shake up the whole card as a huge tweener.  Sadly, it doesn't seem like that is meant to be.

The next tag match was A LOT better, mainly due to Generico being one of the best bumpers in the business, making the heel team assault more entertaining.  The finish was a lot of fun, and defied the conventional wisdom of a time limit draw, which is what I was sure they were going for.  Tag wrestling at it's near best here.

The next match was a step down, being your traditional Pelle tag match, where he takes a lot of abuse, makes a hot tag, then takes the pinfall.

I really dug Aries/Danielson vs. NRC, but did we need to see the same finish they used earlier, with one of the heels tapping quickly despite less than a minute remaining in the match?  I can understand Nigel tapping to preserve himself before a title match, but wouldn't Strong hold on as an F.U. to Dragon and Aries?

The Bracket A Finals were very smartly booked, with the heels focusing on the injuries of Steen and Generico, only to lose due to their attempt at cheating.  Sets Steen and Generico up perfectly in the underground role in the finals.  Nicely done.

The fans chanted You Got Screwed at Dragon, but we were kind of screwed by the non starter of a match.  It is what it is though, booking to lead to something else down the line.  Story takes precedence some times.

Fast forward buttons exist for matches like Hagadorn-Payne.  Waste of time.

Text book Claudio match, but he looks so weak with his selling here.

Finally, a good non tournament match.  It won't stand out at the end of the year as one of the best brawls, but it got the job done.

Another well booked tag match with plenty of great hope spots.  Nicely sets up a feud between these two teams as AOTF barely managed to sneak away with the belts.  Post match trash throwing made for a nice visual, too.  My one complaint with the title match was Steen was selective with his selling of the knee.  Sometimes it was no problem, other times he buckled.

Overall, this is worth checking out for a very well done tag tournament.  Almost all the non tourney stuff is useless, but there's enough good tag action to make this worth owning.  Again, just a well booked show, which is nice to see.  The right team went over in the end, too.
