Title: The Challenge Has Been Accepted
It was officially announced here:
http://www.rohwrestling.com/news/Article.aspx?id=2356, and immediately a war
of words began.
October 28th: Rumor has it that the Age of the Fall may have something to say
about ROH Legend, Samoa Joe, and in particular his upcoming return to ROH on
November 22 in Chicago. More to come as it becomes available.
November 4th: ROH legend Samoa Joe has told ROH officials that he simply does
not care who he faces in his match on 11/22 in Chicago. "I hear that Sweeney has
been causing a bunch of problems in the company as of late, and of course
there's guys like Nigel and Danielson. I hear even Aries would like another
crack. It doesn't even matter. All that matters is that on 11/22 in
Chi-Town...the champ is...home." ROH officials are looking over the list of
potential challengers and word has it that an announcement regarding his
opponent will be made soon.
November 5th: We anticipated hearing from the Age of the Fall in regard to Samoa
Joe’s return to ROH, and we can confirm that we’ve indeed heard from them, and
in a big way! Tyler Black has posted a new blog (http://projectonesixone.blogspot.com/),
and among the topics he discussed was how he’s “tired of these "former ROH
legends" coming "home" to ROH from TNA†to “to rekindle that flame withinâ€.
Black has stated that he believes by “knocking Samoa Joe out†he can earn
another shot at the ROH World Title. We’ll have a response from Samoa Joe as
soon as possible.
November 6th: ROH Officials have fielded several phone calls from Samoa Joe,
who by all accounts sees a lot of “humor†in Tyler Black’s recent blog calling
out the ROH legend. Take a look at what Black had to say (http://projectonesixone.blogspot.com/)
and judge for yourself.
Now it becomes official. Chicago Ridge, Illinois. Saturday night, November
22nd. Samoa Joe versus Tyler Black. For Tyler it is obviously an opportunity
to further cement his burgeoning reputation. If Black puts down the former ROH
World Champion, the man with the record setting title reign, he will ascend to
the upper echelon of Ring of Honor, and more importantly to Tyler, secure
himself another World title match should Friday night in Dayton not work out.
In his words: “I’m not washed up. I am not a has been...What I am is young. And
hungry. And part of an honest revolution in the Age of the Fall.â€
For Joe, well, it’s a chance to shut up a young punk who, in his words, “doesn’t
know his place.†But for all that, Joe seems to appreciate the moxie of Black.
It wasn’t that long ago that Joe himself was doing whatever it took to make his
name in ROH, and now four years after finally losing the ROH World title, he’s
become one of the most respected men in the business.
Another interesting scenario is Black coming into Chicago Ridge with the World
Title in his possession. Tyler has stated that, if victorious in Dayton, he
would defend the title against Samoa Joe the following night. There’s a very
real possibility that we could witness an ROH World Title match between an ROH
contracted talent and a TNA contracted talent. So please join Ring of Honor as
we welcome home an ROH Original, and come witness this potentially landmark
match-up live!
