HOW TO CONTINUE THE ORTON-PRICELESS STORYLINE

Zach’s How To Guide – Chapter 4

Hey everyone and welcome back to Zach’s How To Guide. For those new to the column, I am a diehard wrestling fan and every week I give a sample how to guide for a different wrestling idea. The first week dealt with the return of Christian, the second with mainstreaming ROH, and last week with refreshing characters.

I want to thank those who sent in feedback last week, every week I get more and more responses to the columns. One reader claimed John Morrison is still lame, another said the best conversion ever was Barry Windham joining the Four Horsemen, another despised the Val Venis/Mr. Johnson idea, and a reader also wished for Kane and the Boogeyman to get updated characters.

For those who read last week’s column, you saw that I wished to write this week about how to end the Randy Orton – Priceless feud. Well go figure because last night on RAW, the WWE did something they haven’t done in a while with this feud…progressed it. So credit then goes where credit is due to the WWE. But is that gonna stop me from writing this column? Hells no! Here we go…

Take a stroll back into Memory Lane with me, all the way back to September 1. RAW eminates from St. Louis and Randy Orton returns to the show, running down every champion on the brand. This is where our seemingly never ending storyline begins.

9/1 – Randy calls the tag champs “Worthless.” He then proceeds to slap Cody and tells him and Dibiase to stand up for themselves.

9/7 – Priceless attack CM Punk, Randy Orton kicks him in the head, says “Now that right there, was, impressive” (We’ve all seen the promo hundreds of times)

9/8 – Priceless runs down Orton, he in turn slaps Dibiase

9/15 – Randy walks by Priceless, they glare at each other

9/22 – Rhodes loses to Punk after Punk slaps Orton

9/29 – Priceless brag about their fathers to Kane, Orton plants seeds for Batista feud

10/5 – Priceless confront Orton in the ring, he blows them off

10/6 – Dibiase beats Kingston, Orton becomes friends with Jericho

10/13 – Orton plants seeds for Cena feud

10/20 – Priceless beat the crap out of Cryme Time

10/27 – Priceless lose belts to Punk/Kingston

11/3 – Dibiase interferes in Punk vs Orton, Orton kicks Dibiase in the head. Backstage he tells them to do something about it and they just stare at him

11/10 – Rhodes slaps Orton, Manu gets involved, the three stare at each other in the locker room (and The Soup makes fun of it the following week, funny stuff)

11/17 – Batista beats Manu while Orton watches. Orton and Rhodes exchange words

11/24 – Rhodes and Manu watch Orton’s match, then glare at him

12/1 – Orton watches Rhodes and Manu’s match, then tells them to join him (…finally!!!) At the end of the show, the three team up and beat the hell out of Cena.

Alright, so it took them three long months to get from Point A to Point B. The WWE could have very easily made the second generation stable after one week, but instead chose to drag out the storyline, and drag it out some more, and drag it our some more.

So what’s next for the group? Well first I would have a storyline to bring back Dibiase, and I’d go with the simplest one in the books. Dibiase looks for revenge against Priceless/Orton, so he teams up with Batista to fight back against his old teammates. Then he turns on Batista and cements the second generation stable sometime around January near the Royal Rumble.

Here’s how to continue the storyline…

  1. After Dibiase returns to the team, give them a name and t-shirts. Look at the Main Event Mafia as an example. I would personally call the stable “Sons of Legends” and give them a 4 square t-shirt with their faces in it.
  2. Put the tag straps back on the guys to establish their dominance/strength.
  3. Here is the kicker. We have an uprising in the group during the summer. Make Priceless turn on Orton, establish either Rhodes or Dibiase as the new leader, turn them face, and have them be joined by Joe Henning.

In all honesty, I’m just happy the storyline has progressed. Since Spring I feel like the idea of a second generation stable has been kicked around. Feels good to have some movement within the group and I’m excited to see what happens next with them.

Well hope you enjoyed my bit of fantasy booking. Shoot me your ideas at zachlevine86@gmail.com.
