UFC Lightweight Division Fight
“Handsome” Matt Wiman (10-3-0) vs. Jim Miller (12-1-0)
After making his UFC with a loss to Spencer Fisher at UFC 60, Matt Wiman has pulled out four straight UFC victories over Brian Geraghty, Michihiro Omigawa, Justin Bucholz and Thiago Tavares. In his professional MMA debut four years ago, Matt Wiman won the Extreme Fight League Lightweight Tournament by defeating Joe Garza, Greg Bossler and Larry Johns. Matt Wiman is a fighter who is comfortable wherever the fight ends up, with seven career victories coming by knockout or submission. Jim Miller was signed to the UFC with his brother Dan Miller earlier this year after a successful run in the International Fight League. Jim Miller made his UFC debut at UFC 85, defeating David Baron by submission in the third round. Jim Miller will be looking to put this fight on the ground, with nine victories coming by way of submission.
My Prediction: Jim Miller
UFC Light Heavyweight Division Fight
Steve “Robot” Cantwell (6-1-0) vs. Razak Al-Hussan (6-0-0)
Steve Cantwell will be making his UFC debut in this fight after a successful run in the WEC, where he was the final WEC Light Heavyweight Champion. During his time in the WEC, Steve Cantwell defeated Brian Stann, Tim McKenzie and Justin McElfresh, while suffering his lone career loss to Brian Stann in their first encounter at WEC 26. Of his seven professional fights, none of them have gone to a decision, which speaks to Steve Cantwell’s finishing abilities. Steve Cantwell is a fighter who is comfortable wherever the fight ends up, with all six victories coming by knockout or submission. Razak Al-Hussan is an undefeated fighter who is also making his UFC debut, competing mostly thus far in the Mainstream MMA and Extreme Challenge promotions. Thus far in 2008, Razak Al-Hussan has fought three times and this fight against Steve Cantwell will be the fourth of the year for him. Razak Al-Hussan will be looking to put this fight on the ground, with four victories coming by way of submission.
My Prediction: Steve Cantwell
UFC Middleweight Division Fight
Tim Credeur (10-2-0) vs. Nate Loughran (9-0-0)
Tim Credeur made his UFC debut at UFC Ultimate Fight Night 14, where he defeated Cale Yarbrough by knockout in the first round. Prior to coming to the UFC, Tim Credeur fought two top notch MMA veterans in Chael Sonnen and Joey Villasenor. In his twelve professional MMA fights, only once has Tim Credeur seen a fight go past the first round, that fight was the second of his career in 2002. Tim Credeur will be looking to put this fight on the ground, with seven career victories coming by submission. Nate Loughran is an undefeated fighter who made his UFC debut at UFC Ultimate Fight Night 14, defeating Johnny Rees by submission. Prior to coming to the UFC, Nate Loughran primarily fought in promotions like Palace Fighting Championships and Gladiator Challenge. Of his nine professional fights, none have ended by decision, which speaks to the finishing abilities of Nate Loughran. Nate Loughran will be looking to put this fight on the ground, with eight career victories coming by way of submission.
My Prediction: Nate Loughran
UFC Welterweight Division Fight
Mike “Quick” Swick (12-2-0) vs. “The Road Warrior” Jonathan Goulet (22-9-0)
Mike Swick started off his career in the UFC with impressive victories over Alex Schoenauer, Gideon Ray, Steve Vigneault, Joe Riggs and David Louisea, before losing a middleweight top contenders fight to Yushin Okami at UFC 69. Following the loss, Mike Swick moved down to the UFC Welterweight Division and currently holds victories over Josh Burkman and Marcus Davis. A potential victory over Jonathan Goulet could make Mike Swick a top contender in the UFC Welterweight Division. Mike Swick will be looking to use his striking skills to gain the victory, with five victories coming by knockout.. Jonathan Goulet has had a very odd run thus far in the UFC with victories over Jay Hieron, Luke Cummo, Paul Georgieff and Kuniyoshi Hironaka, but has suffered defeats to Duane Ludwig, Josh Koscheck and Dustin Hazelett. Prior to competing in the UFC, Jonathan Goulet primarily fought in the TKO promotion, where a third of his career fights occurred in. Jonathan Goulet is a fighter who is comfortable wherever the fight ends up, with nineteen victories coming by knockout or submission.
My Prediction: Mike Swick
UFC Welterweight Division Fight
Josh “Kos” Koscheck (11-3-0) vs. Yoshiyuki “Zenko” Yoshida (10-2-0)
Josh Koscheck put himself in an interesting position in this fight, due to him accepting a fight and losing to Thiago Alves on short notice at UFC 90 in October. Prior to that loss, Josh Koscheck was easily a victory away from getting an opportunity at the UFC Welterweight Title. Josh Koscheck has fought all but two of his career fights in the UFC, holding victories over Chris Sanford, Pete Spratt, Ansar Chalangov, Dave Menne, Jonathan Goulet, Jeff Joslin, Diego Sanchez, Dustin Hazelett and Chris Lytle, while suffering losses to Drew Fickett, Georges St. Pierre and Thiago Alves. Josh Koscheck will be looking to put this fight on the ground, with four career victories coming by submission. Yoshiyuki Yoshida made his UFC debut at UFC 84 by defeating War Machine by submission in the first round. Prior to debuting in the UFC, Yoshiyuki Yoshida primarily competed overseas in the Greatest Common Multiple and Shooto promotions. Yoshiyuki Yoshida even holds a big victory over UK fighter Dan Hardy, whom he defeated by disqualification GCM - Cage Force 5. Yoshiyuki Yoshida is currently riding a nine fight winning streak that has lasted a little over two full years. Yoshiyuki Yoshida will be looking to use his striking skills to gain the victory, with six victories coming by knockout.
My Prediction: Josh Koscheck
