DAY OF RECKONING

Affliction Welterweight Division Fight
Brett Cooper (7-4-0) vs. Patrick Speight (7-1-0)

Brett Cooper is making his Affliction debut at this event, but has fought top notch MMA competition in Ed Ratcliff, Jason Von Flue and Rory Markham. The biggest victory in Brett Coopers career thus far came over now UFC star Rory Markham at the International Fight League 2007 World Grand Prix Finals. Brett Cooper is currently riding a four fight winning streak, with his last loss coming to Toby Grear at the Total Fighting Alliance 6 event. Brett Cooper will be looking to use his striking skills to gain the victory, with four previous victories coming by knockout. Patrick Speight started of his MMA career in impressive fashion with seven straight victories, but suffered his first career loss to Alex Cisne at an October 2008 King Of The Cage event. Patrick Speight is a veteran of the Total Combat promotion, where he is undefeated with victories over Brandon Adams, James Wilks and David Gardner. Patrick Speight will be looking to use his striking skills to gain the victory, with three prior victories coming by knockout.

My Prediction: Patrick Speight

Affliction Featherweight Division Fight
Albert Rios (10-3-0) vs. Antonio “Tigre” Duarte (11-1-0)

Albert Rios will be making his Affliction debut on a four fight winning streak, with his last loss coming over two years ago to Angelo Antuna at World Pro Fighting Championships 1. Early in his career, Albert Rios fought Elite XC veteran Mike Aina, and lost to him by decision at a Rumble On The Rock event in October 2005. Albert Rios only fought one time in 2008, a victory over Adrian Delgado at Cage Of Fire 14, so conditioning could play a factor in this fight. Albert Rios will be looking to put this fight on the ground, with three previous victory coming by submission. Antonio Duarte will be making his Affliction debut riding an eight fight winning streak, which has lasted over two years. Antonio Duarte is a veteran of the Cage Of Fire promotion, where he has defeated Issac Peralta, Jesse Miramontes, Ernie Davila, Rick Screeton, Brian Yunker and Charles Williams. Antonio Duarte will be looking to put this fight on the ground, with eight career victories coming by submission.

My Prediction: Albert Rios

Affliction Featherweight Division Fight
Bao Quach (15-8-1) vs. LC Davis (12-1-0)

Bao Quach enters the fight as a late replacement for Mark Hominick, who had to pull out of the fight after contracting pneumonia. Bao Quach enters the fight on a nine fight winning streak and has fought top MMA stars like Richard Crunkilton, Wagney Fabiano, Jeff Curran and Doug Evans. Bao Quach is a veteran of the Elite XC, Icon Sport, Shooto, King Of The Cage and World Extreme Cagefighting promotions. Bao Quach will be looking to use his striking skills to gain the victory, with four prior victories coming by knockout. LC Davis is a highly touted MMA prospect who is a longtime veteran of the International Fight League and Titan Fighting Championship promotions. The lone loss in LC Davis’s career came to current WEC Featherweight Title contender Wagney Fabiano. LC Davis is currently on a three fight winning streak with victories over Rafael Dias, Josh Bernal and Billy Kidd. LC Davis is a fighter who is comfortable wherever the fight ends up, with eleven victories coming by knockout or submission.

My Prediction: LC Davis

Affliction Welterweight Division Fight
“The Thoroughbred” Jay Hieron (16-4-0) vs. Jason High (6-0-0)

Jay Hieron is a longtime veteran of the International Fight League who actually turned down a UFC contract to compete at Affliction. During his time in the International Fight League, Jay Hieron fought top MMA fighters like Chris Wilson and Brad Blackburn. Jay Hieron also fought twice before in the UFC at UFC 48, losing to current UFC Welterweight Champion Georges St. Pierre and at UFC Ultimate Fight Night 2, losing to Jonathan Goulet. Jay Hieron is a fighter who is comfortable wherever the fight ends up, with ten career victories coming by knockout and submission. Jason High is an undefeated fighter who is a veteran of the Victory Fighting Championships promotion and holds a victory over UFC veteran Kevin Burns. The undefeated streak for Jason High has lasted over three years and started with a victory over Shaw Westbrook at All Fighting Championships 3. In his last two fights, Jason High has finished both of his opponents on under a minute, with the longest fight going forty five seconds. Jason High is a fighter who is comfortable wherever the fight ends up, with five victories coming by knockout or submission.

My Prediction: Jay Hieron

Affliction Light Heavyweight Division Fight
Antonio Rogerio “Minotoro” Nogueira (15-3-0) vs. Vladimir “The Janitor” Matyushenko (21-3-0)

Antonio Rogerio Nogueira is the brother of former UFC Interim Heavyweight Champion Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira. Antonio Rogerio Nogueira competed at the first ever Affliction event, defeating UFC veteran Edwin Dewees by TKO.. Antonio Rogerio Nogueira is a longtime veteran of PRIDE, where he fought Guy Metzger, Kazushi Sakuraba, Alistair Overeem, Dan Henderson, Mauricio Rua and Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou. Antonio Rogerio Nogueira will be looking to put this fight on the ground, with five victories coming by submission. Vladimir Matyushenko was the International Fight League Light Heavyweight Champion when the promotion shut down last year, with victories over Justin Levens, Aaron Stark, Tim Boetsch and Alex Schoenauer. Vladimir Matyushenko is also a UFC veteran, where he defeated Travis Wiuff, Yuki Kondo and Pedro Rizzo, while suffering losses to Andrei Arlovski and Tito Ortiz. It has been nearly a year since Vladimir Matyushenko last fought, so conditioning could become a factor in this fight. Vladimir Matyshenko is a fighter who is comfortable wherever the fight ends up, with fourteen victories coming by submission or knockout.

My Prediction: Vladimir Matyushenko
