By David Tees on 1/30/2009 10:17 AM

UFC Lightweight Division Fight
Nate Diaz (10-2-0) vs. Clay “The Carpenter” Guida (24-9-0)

Nate Diaz has become a force in the UFC Lightweight Division ever since defeating Manny Gamburyan to win the UFC Ultimate Fighter 5. After winning the reality show, Nate Diaz has gone onto defeat Junior Assuncao, Alvin Robinson, Kurt Pellegrino and Josh Neer. Despite competing in the UFC for nearly two years, this will be the first UFC pay-per-view appearance for Nate Diaz. Prior to competing in the UFC, Nate Diaz has also competed in Strikeforce and World Extreme Cagefighting. Nate Diaz will be looking to put this fight on the ground, with seven victories coming by way of submission. Clay Guida has had an up and down run in the UFC with victories over Justin James, Marcus Aurellio, Samy Schiavo and Mac Danzig, then suffering losses to Din Thomas, Tyson Griffin and Roger Huerta. Prior to coming to the UFC, Clay Guida fought top MMA fighters like Bart Palaszweski, Joe Jordan, Josh Thomson and Gilbert Milendez. Clay Guida will be looking to put this fight on the ground, with twelve victories coming by way of submission.

My Prediction: Nate Diaz

UFC Welterweight Division Fight
Karo “The Heat” Parisyan (18-5-0) vs. Dong Hyun “Stun Gun” Kim (11-0-1)

Karo Parisyan is a fighter who is always on the verge of becoming a title contender in the UFC Welterweight Division, with victories in the UFC over Dave Strasser, Nick Diaz, Chris Lytle, Matt Serra, Nick Thompson, Drew Fickett, Josh Burkman and Ryo Chonnan. It has been key losses to Georges St.. Pierre, Diego Sanchez and Thiago Alves that kept Karo Parisyan out of title contention. In fact, Karo Parisyan was scheduled to compete for the UFC Welterweight Title at UFC 56, but an injury forced him to be pulled from the fight. Karo Parisyan will be looking to put the fight on the ground, with nine victories coming by way of submission. Dong Hyun Kim is a longtime MMA veteran who has competed in the UFC, DEEP and Spirit MC promotions. During his time in the UFC, Dong Hyun Kim has pulled out victories over both Matt Brown and Jason Tan. Although Dong Hyun Kim is undefeated, there is a lone draw on his record, which came against Hidehiko Hasegawa at DEEP 32. Dong Hyun Kim will be looking to use his striking skills to gain the victory, with six victories coming by knockout.

My Prediction: Karo Parisyan

UFC Light Heavyweight Division Fight
“The American Psycho” Stephan Bonnar (11-4-0) vs. Jon “Bones” Jones (7-0-0)

Stephan Bonnar could easily be one of the most underrated UFC Light Heavyweight Division fighters right now, having fought Forrest Griffin, Sam Hoger, James Irvin, Keith Jardine, Rashad Evans, Mike Nickels and Eric Schafer. It has been over a year since Stephan Bonnar last fought due to injuries, so his conditioning could come into questioning. Despite the long layoff due to injuries, Stephan Bonnar does enter the fight against Jon Jones on a two fight win streak. Stephan Bonnar will be looking to put this fight on the ground, with seven victories coming by submission. Jon Jones is an undefeated fighter who made his UFC debut at UFC 87, with a victory over Andre Gusmao by unanimous decision. Jon Jones is also a veteran of the Battle Cage Xtreme promotion, where he has defeated Carlos Eduardo and Moyses Gabin. Besides the one decision victory over Andre Gusmao, all six other fights in Jon Jones career have ended by knockout or submission, which speaks to his finishing abilities. Jon Jones will be looking to use his striking skills to gain the victory, with five victories coming by knockout.

My Prediction: Stephan Bonnar

UFC Light Heavyweight Division Fight
Lyoto “The Dragon” Machida (13-0-0) vs. Thiago Silva (13-0-0)

This fight between Lyoto Machida and Thiago Silva has been considered by many to be a top contenders fight in the UFC Light Heavyweight Division. Lyoto Machida is an undefeated fighter with five victories in the UFC over Sam Hoger, David Heath, Kazuhiro Nakamura, Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou and Tito Ortiz. If you look at Lyoto Machida’s fights before he entered the UFC, he also holds victories over Rich Franklin, BJ Penn, Vernon White and Stephan Bonnar. Lyoto Machida uses a very elusive style to defeat opponents, with eight victories coming by way of decision. Thiago Silva is another undefeated fighter with four victories in the UFC over James Irvin, Tomasz Drwal, Houston Alexander and Antonio Mendes. Thiago Silva is also a veteran of the Fury FC promotion, where he defeated Dave Dalgliesh, Claudio Godoi and Vitor Vianna. Thiago Silva has finished the last seven of eight fights by knockouts, which speaks to his finishing abilities. Thiago Silva will be looking to use his striking skills to gain the victory, with ten victories coming by knockout.

My Prediction: Lyoto Machida

UFC Welterweight Title Fight
Champion: Georges “Rush” St. Pierre (17-2-0) vs. Challenger: “The Prodigy” BJ Penn (13-4-1)

This fight is a rematch from UFC 58, where Georges St. Pierre defeated BJ Penn by split decision, which was BJ Penn’s first UFC fight in years. Georges St. Pierre has had an amazing run in the UFC as a two time UFC Welterweight Champion and one time UFC Interim Welterweight Champion. Georges St. Pierre has defeated Karo Parisyan, Jay Hieron, Jason Miller, Frank Trigg, Sean Sherk, BJ Penn, Matt Hughes, Josh Koscheck, Matt Serra and Jon Fitch, while suffering losses to Matt Hughes and Matt Serra. Georges St. Pierre is also a longtime veteran of the TKO promotion, where he defeated Elite XC veteran Thomas Denny and UFC veteran Dave Strasser. Georges St. Pierre will be looking to use his striking skills to gain the victory, with seven victories coming by knockout. BJ Penn has spent the majority of his career in the UFC, where he is the current UFC Lightweight Champion and is a former UFC Welterweight Champion. BJ Penn, with a victory over Georges St. Pierre could become the only fighter other than Randy Couture to hold two different UFC titles in two different weight classes and could become the first UFC fighter ever to hold two titles at the same time. While in the UFC, BJ Penn has fought the likes of Din Thomas, Caol Uno, Jens Pulver, Matt Serra, Matt Hughes, Georges St. Pierre, Joe Stevenson and Sean Sherk. BJ Penn is a fighter who is comfortable wherever the fight ends up, with ten victories coming by knockout and submission.

My Prediction: Georges St. Pierre
