Hey everyone and welcome back to Zach's How To Guide, Chapter 17. Got a great e-mail this week that congratulated me for making it past Chapter 11 in this economy, but that got me to thinking. Sure the economy may be in the crapper right now, but the more we can get our heads off it for a while the better, so hope this column keeps your mind off things for a while.
Want to thank everyone for sending in feedback bout the TNA column last week. Got the most feedback I have gotten since I asked people to send in names for various finishers and tag teams. The outlook of TNA looks pretty bleak it seems like, with many thinking that TNA has dug themselves into a hole that is gonna take a lot to get out of. But the feedback is always appreciated and glad many of you took some time to tell me how crappy TNA is.
So from last week's name game, readers had plenty of solid ideas for the Shane Sewell finisher. Had names range from the 3 Count to the SSE [A Shane Sewell Elbowdrop and a subtle shot at Evan Bourne's SSP]. Several people sent this one in though, and I think I like it the best. So from now on, when Shane Sewell drops a flying elbow, I want Mike Tenay to call it "THE REF BUMP."
For this week's Name Game, let's try to find a name for Maryse's ddt. Tommy owns the move as his finisher, I don't need to see Maryse desecrating it. But if it had a diff name, we'll be in business. So please send feedback to zachlevine86@gmail.com.
Alrighty, on to the matter at hand. A couple of months ago, Tommy made the promo saying that if he didn't win the world title by June 6, he would retire. I believe that day just might be the same as WWE One Night Stand, I mean Extreme Rules, I mean Night of Extreme, I mean Extreme Rules. This isn't as bad as TNA having two final resolutions in one year, but you get the gist of it.
So, the big question is, do we put the belt on Tommy before that date, or do we keep his persona alive and keep the belt off him. My thoughts...why not both?
I do believe that Tommy will retire the ECW post the Extreme Rules PPV. But I say why not let him go out on top a-la Ric Flair. Let's book it.
1. Tommy faces Swagger at Wrestlemania in an Extreme Rules match. They had an amazing match before, and I say lets replicate the magic at the biggest show of the year. Tommy has been getting a small build lately, so let's have him at least get a chance to make a Wrestlemania moment.
2. Keep Swagger and Tommy on the brand after the April draft, they will be the two major players in this feud. New people are drafted to ECW sure, but I want to do a slow build to another match at Extreme Rules.
3. Extreme Rules PPV, Main Event - Dreamer/Swagger steel cage match. I believe the only other new ECW cage match was Lashley and Hardcore Holly, so I'm thinking this match won't have too much competition in this department. And this my friends, this is where Dreamer wins the ECW title. Post match Beulah celebrates with him in the ring as we go to close.
4. Tuesday afterwards Tommy cuts a heartfelt promo, saying how much the belt means to him, how happy he is that he has reached the promised land, and that the day he cannot defend this title anymore, he's done in TNA.
5. Swagger comes out and demands his rematch clause for later tonight. Through shenanigans incorporated by Swagger, he wins back his belt and retires Dreamer. A little rushed maybe, but I do believe Dreamer wants to retire and through this method, he's able to go out with the belt and some dignity in tact, rather than being the job boy for ECW.
Well that's my two cents, please send yours to zachlevine86@gmail.com. Thanks for reading and stay tuned for next week's column, How to bring back MISTERRRRR KENNNNNNNNNNNNNEDY.......KENNEDY!!!
