By David Tees on 3/5/2009 1:30 PM

UFC Lightweight Division Fight
Aaron Riley (27-10-1) vs. “Sugar” Shane Nelson (11-3-0)

Aaron Riley made his UFC debut at UFC 37, losing to Robbie Lawler, then returned four years later at UFC Ultimate Fight Night 3 to lose to Spencer Fisher. Aaron Riley finally picked up his first UFC victory at UFC 91, when he defeated Jorge Gurgel by unanimous decision. In between UFC appearances, Aaron Riley fought in promotions like PRIDE, International Fight League, Hook N’ Shoot and Bodog Fight. Aaron Riley enters this fight on a three fight win streak, having defeated Thiago Minu, Steve Claveau and Jorge Gurgel. Aaron Riley will be looking to put this fight on the ground, with thirteen career victories coming by way of submission. Shane nelson will be remembered by most UFC fans as a cast member of the UFC Ultimate Fighter 8 reality show. In his UFC debut, Shane Nelson defeated George Roop by split decision at the UFC Ultimate Fighter 8 Finale. Shane Nelson is a longtime veteran of the Rumble On The Rock promotion, where more than half of his career fights occurred at. Shane Nelson will be looking to put this fight on the ground, with three victories coming by way of submission.

My Prediction: Aaron Riley

UFC Light Heavyweight Division Fight
Brandon “The Truth” Vera (9-3-0) vs. Michael Patt (12-3-0)

Brandon Vera kick started off his UFC career in impressive fashion with four straight victories over Fabiano Scherner, Justin Eilers, Assuerio Silva and Frank Mir. Brandon Vera would then lose three of his next four fights to Tim Sylvia, Fabricio Werdum and Keith Jardine, with the lone victory coming over Reese Andy. Early in his career, Brandon Vera won a World Extreme Cagefighting Heavyweight Tournament by defeating Andre Mussi and Mike Whitehead. Brandon Vera will be looking to use his striking skills to gain the victory, with six victories coming by knockout. Michael Patt made his UFC debut at UFC 88, losing to Tim Boetsch by knockout in the opening round of the fight. Prior to coming to the UFC, Michael Patt fought in promotions like Bodog Fight and Freestyle Fighting Championships. It has been over six months since Michael Patt last competed, so conditioning could play a factor in this fight. Michael Patt will be looking to put this fight on the ground, with nine victories coming by way of submission.

My Prediction: Brandon Vera

UFC Light Heavyweight Division Fight
Tim “The Barbarian” Boetsch (8-2-0) vs. Jason “Hitman” Brilz (16-1-1)

Tim Boetsch has had a successful run in the UFC thus far with victories over David Heath and Michael Patt, with a lone UFC loss to Matt Hamill. Tim Boetsch also has fought in the now defunct International Fight League, losing to Vladimir Matyushenko. Tim Boetsch started off his MMA career in impressive fashion with a six fight undefeated streak, that was ended by the aforementioned Vladimir Matyushenko. Tim Boetsch will be looking to use his striking skills to gain the victory, with five victories coming by knockout. Jason Brilz debuted in the UFC at UFC Ultimate Fight Night 15 with a victory over Brand Morris by knockout in the second round. Jason Brilz already holds victories over current and former UFC fighters like Justin Eilers, Jason MacDonald and Alex Schoenauer. Jason Brilz is entering this fight on a twelve fight win streak, with his last loss coming to Vince Fields at Ultimate Wrestling: Caged Fights in 2001. Jason Brilz will be looking to put this fight on the ground, with nine victories coming by way of submission.

My Prediction: Tim Boetsch

UFC Middleweight Division Fight
Kendall “Da Spyder” Grove (9-5-0) vs. Jason “Dooms” Day (17-7-0)

Kendall Grove, along with Michael Bisping, where co-winners of the UFC Ultimate Fighter 3 after defeating Ed Herman at the finale. After winning the reality program, Kendall Grove went onto defeat Chris Price and Alan Belcher before suffering two losses to Patrick Cote and Jorge Rivera. Kendall Grove rebounded by defeating the late Evan Tanner at the UFC Ultimate Fighter 7 Finale in 2008. It has been nearly nine months since Kendall Grove last fought, so conditioning could play a factor in the fight. Kendall Grove will be looking to put the fight on the ground, with six victories coming by way of submission. Jason Day made his UFC debut at UFC 83 by defeating Alan Belcher, but suffered a loss in his second UFC appearance to Michael Bisping at UFC 85. Jason Day also holds victories over two UFC veterans in Jonathan Goulet and David Loiseau in non-UFC competition. Jason Day is a fighter who is comfortable wherever the fight ends up, with sixteen career victories coming by submission and knockout.

My Prediction: Kendall Grove

UFC Welterweight Division Fight
Tamdan “The Barn Cat” McCrory (10-2-0) vs. Ryan “The Lion” Madigan (5-0-0)

Tamdan McCrory has had an interesting run in the UFC with victories over Pete Spratt and Luke Cummo, while suffering losses to Akihiro Gono and Dustin Hazelett. Before coming to the UFC, Tamdan McCrory was a veteran of the Cage Fury Fighting Championship, Full Force Productions and World Fighting League promotions. Tamdan McCrory started off his career with a nine fight undefeated streak that lasted just over a entire year. Tamdan McCrory will be looking to use his striking skills to gain the victory, with six prior wins coming by knockout. Ryan Madigan will be making his UFC debut in this fight, but is a veteran of the Gladiators Cage Fighting promotion. In the Gladiator Cage Fighting promotion, Ryan Madigan defeated Clint Zeedyk, Chad Truckovich and Ricardo Martinez. In his five professional fights, none have gone past the second round, which speaks to Ryan Madigan’s finishing abilities. Ryan Madigan will be looking to use his striking skills to gain the victory, with three wins coming by knockout.

My Prediction: Tamdan McCrory
