Due to the swine flu epidemic, the promoters for the Lucha Libre Expo formally
announced today that they would be postponing their festival until July 24-26.
The northern promoters such as the Nuevo Laredo groups and the Torreon crew has
cancelled their shows for this week as well.
EMLL cancelled their show at Arena Puebla tonight and AAA has cancelled their TV
taping in Aguascalientes for Thursday as well meaning that their next taping
will take place on 5/18 in Leon. AAA in fact has cancelled up to 90% of their
upcoming shows for the next couple of weeks.
Dos Caras Jr. told Diario Record today that he knows that everyone has been
affected by the swine flu but he and other wrestlers are upset that they won’t
be getting paid during this break in the action which is hurting them in the
current economy. Wrestlers such as Blue Panther, Felino, Mr. Niebla, Sensei,
Stuka Jr., Valiente, & Volador Jr. have come out with Dos in saying that they
are disappointed in their wrestlers union for not standing by them trying to
help them get some money from the promotions as they themselves are basically in
the promotion’s pocket. EMLL was supposed to tell the wrestlers today what the
future plans are for a return to work in the DF.
