Strikeforce Middleweight Division Fight Chad Sutton (2-1-0) vs. Spencer Herns (0-0-0)
Chad Sutton has been competing in professional MMA for nearly six years, but has only fought in three fights after taking a four year break after a 2004 fight. This fight will be Chad Sutton’s Strikeforce debut, but he has fought in Xtreme Kage Kombat, Extreme Challenge and Pure Combat promotions. In his three professional fights, Chad Sutton defeated Jim O’Flannigan and Eli Moreno, while suffering his lone career loss to Ted Worthington. Chad Sutton will be looking to put this fight on the ground, with all of his career victories coming by submission. This fight will mark the professional MMA debut for Spencer Herns, so his lack of experience could be his biggest detriment in the fight.
My Prediction: Chad Sutton
Strikeforce Lightweight Division Fight Fabricio “Morango†Camoes (9-4-0) vs. Torrance Taylor (7-5-1)
Fabricio Camoes is a well traveled MMA veteran who has fought top MMA names like Gleison Tibau and Sam Morgan, who he defeated in his last MMA appearance in 2008. In late 2006, Fabricio Camoes won the Super Challenge 1 Lightweight Tournament by defeating Mauro Chimento Jr., Luciano Azevedo and Jean Silva. It has been nearly a year since Fabricio Camoes last fought, so conditioning could play a factor in this particular fight. Fabricio Camoes will be looking to put this fight on the ground, with five victories coming by way of submission. Torrance Taylor is another fighter who has fought top notch MMA fighters like Junior Assuncao, Jason Dent, Mike Russo and Luke Caudillo. Torrance Taylor is also a longtime veteran of the North American Allied Fight Series, where he won three of his five fights in the promotion. In an interesting career note for Torrance Taylor, all of his career fights ended in either the first or third round, with none ending in the second round. Torrance Taylor is a fighter who is comfortable wherever the fight ends up, with five victories coming by knockout or submission.
My Prediction: Fabricio Camoes
Strikeforce Lightweight Division Fight Ousmane Thomas Diagne (0-0-0) vs. Kaleo “Leo Boy†Kwan (7-9-0)
This fight will mark the professional MMA debut for Ousmane Thomas Diagne, so his lack of experience could be his biggest detriment in the fight. Kaleo Kwan has fought a decent list of MMA names like Mike Aina (three times) and UFC veteran Shane Nelson (twice), despite his losing record. Kaleo Kwan has fought in top MMA promotions like Rumble On The Rock, Elite XC, Sho XC, King Of The Cage and Icon Sport. Kaleo Kwan had a rough rookie year in 2005, fighting seven times that year and having lost five of those fights. Kaleo Kwan is a fighter who is comfortable wherever the fight ends up, with four victories coming by knockout or submission.
My Prediction: Kaleo Kwan
Strikeforce Women’s Flyweight Division Fight Zoila Frausto (1-0-0) vs. Avery Vilche (1-0-1)
Zoila Frausto made her MMA debut a few months ago at the War Gods/Ken Shamrock Productions: The Valentine’s Eve Massacre event. In that event, Zoila Frausto defeated Karina Hallinan, who was also making her MMA debut, by split decision. Zoila Frausto will be looking to use her striking skills to earn her first victory not being achieved by a decision. Avery Vilche started off her MMA career in interesting fashion, by fighting Kristin Niedzulski to a draw at Ken Shamrock Productions: Xtreme in 2007. Two years later at Freestyle Cage Fighting in February of this year, Avery Vilche defeated Tonya Peery by submission in the third round. Avery Vilche will be looking to put this fight on the ground, with her lone MMA victory coming by way of submission.
My Prediction: Zoila Frausto
Strikeforce Lightweight Division Fight Ben Holscher (1-0-0) vs. Cody Canterbury (1-4-0)
Ben Holscher made his professional MMA debut in late 2008, competing in the War Gods: Do Or Die event in November. In that fight, Ben Holscher defeated Walt Hughes by unanimous decision, Walt Hughes has not won a fight in five opportunities. Ben Holscher will be looking to use ground and pound to gain the victory, which is a strategy he used in his first fight. Cody Canterbury started off his MMA career in impressive fashion with a victory over John Incorvaia at Gladiator Challenge 55. Since that fight, Cody Canterbury has gone on a four fight losing streak with losses suffered to Ben Sattler, Carlos Ochoa, Dustin Akbari and Telly Sanders. Despite having a losing record, Cody Canterbury has fought in promotions like Gladiator Challenge, King Of The Cage, Palace Fighting Championships and War Gods. Cody Canterbury will be looking to use his striking skills to gain the victory, with his lone victory coming by knockout.
My Prediction: Ben Holscher
