Mike Goldberg welcomes the viewers to the event before introducing Joe Rogan, they then discuss the main event between Rashad Evans and Lyoto Machida. Mike Goldberg and Joe Rogan then discuss the semi-main event between Matt Serra and Matt Hughes before going over the rest of the card.

Fight #1: UFC Lightweight Division Fight: Sean Sherk (37-3-1) vs. Frank Edgar (9-1-0)

Round One

The round starts with Frank Edgar throwing a head kick, Sean Sherk quick responds by launching a few punches at his opponent. The fighters lock up and Sean Sherk forces Frank Edgar into the cage wall for a few seconds, Sean Sherk then blocks a Frank Edgar takedown attempt. Frank Edgar then connects on a punching combo to Sean Sherks face, Frank Edgar then hits Sean Sherk with a leg kicks before locking up with him in the clinch. Sean Sherk recovers by hitting Frank Edgar with a left hook, Frank Edgar then scores a takedown on Sean Sherk while controlling the head. Frank Edgar then connects on a leg kick after Sean Sherk frees himself from head control, both fighters connect on several punches to end the round.

Round Two

The round begins with Sean Sherk hitting Frank Edgar with a right to the chin, Frank Edgar then hits Sean Sherk with a right kick to the body. Frank Edgar then hits Sean Sherk with a knee strike to the body, Sean Sherk then hits Frank Edgar with a left hook to the face. Frank Edgar responds by hitting Sean Sherk with a leg kick, Frank Edgar then connects on a punching combo to Sean Sherk. Sean Sherk then nearly drops Frankie Edgar with a punching combo to the head and body, Frank Edgar respond by hitting Sean Sherk with a leg kick. Frank Edgar then attempts a head kick as the round concludes.

Round Three

The final round stars with Frank Edgar hitting Sean Sherk with a right to the body, Sean Sherk then blocks an attempted takedown attempt by Frank Edgar. Sean Sherk then quickly takes Frank Edgar down with a double leg, Frank Edgar quickly gets back up and eats a few punches on the way. Frank Edgar then gets a second takedown attempt stuffed by Sean Sherk, Frank Edgar then stuffs a Sean Sherk takedown attempt and follows it up with a body kick. Frank Edgar then connects with another leg kick on Sean Sherk, Frank Edgar then connects with another punching combo on Sean Sherk. Frank Edgar blocks another Sean Sherk takedown attempt and locks in a guillotine choke as the round concludes.

Fight Result: Frank Edgar def. Sean Sherk by Unanimous Decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27)

Post fight interview with Frank Edgar, who says he knew he had to step up his game tonight and he wants a shot at the UFC Lightweight Title.

Fight #2: UFC Middleweight Division Fight: Dan Miller (11-1-1) vs. Chael Sonnen (23-10-1)

Round One

The round begins with Dan Miller hitting Chael Sonnen with a leg kick, Dan Miller blocks a Chael Sonnen taken and locks him in the arm in guillotine that Chael Sonnen eventually escapes. Chael Sonnen uses the top position to hit Dan Miller with a head punch, Chael Sonnen then falls into the guard of Dan Miller. Chael Sonnen continues to use ground and pound on Dan Miller, Dan Miller rolls into an attempted knee bar on Chael Sonnen and Chael Sonnen escapes with side control. Chael Sonnen then uses side control to hit Dan Miller with elbow strikes, Dan Miller then moves Chael Sonnen to half guard. Dan Miller is pounded in the face by Chael Sonnen with elbow strikes while in the guard, Dan Miller attempts to use the rubber guard as the round ends.

Round Two

The round starts off with both fighters throwing leg kicks, Chael Sonnen then forces Dan Miller into the cage wall before connecting on a double leg takedown. Chael Sonnen then escapes a second guillotine attempt by Dan Miller, Chael Sonnen then connects on a wild right to the face of Dan Miller. Chael Sonnen continues to use ground and pound while in the open guard of Dan Miller, Dan Miller then nearly pulls off an arm bar attempt on Chael Sonnen. Chael Sonnen then connects on a few elbow strikes to the face of Dan Miller, Chael Sonnen then attempts a wild right to Dan Miller as the round ends.

Round Three

The final round begins with Dan Miller attempting a head kick on Chael Sonnen, Chael Sonnen then forces Dan Miller into the cage wall before connecting on a takedown. Chael Sonnen then goes back to using ground and pound on Dan Miller, Dan Miller then attempts to control the head of Chael Sonnen. Chael Sonnen then moves to half guard and Dan Miller quickly forces him back to full guard, Chael Sonnen goes back to using ground and pound as the round concludes.

Fight Result: Chael Sonnen def. Dan Miller by Unanimous Decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27)

Fight #3: UFC Middleweight Division Fight: Drew McFedries (7-5-0) vs. Xavier Foupa-Pokam (20-10-0)

Referee: Yves Lavigne

Round One

The fight begins with Drew McFedries quickly nailing Xavier Foupa-Pokam with a right to the head, Drew McFedries follows it up by hitting Xavier Foupa-Pokam with a few more punches and referee Yves Lavigne steps in to end the fight.

Fight Result: Drew McFedries def. Xavier Foupa-Pokam by (0:37, R1)

Post fight interview with Drew McFedries, who says he came into the fight ready to throw down and he thanks all of the UFC fans.

Rashad Evans and Lyoto Machida are shown preparing for their fight in their respective locker rooms.

Fight #4: UFC Welterweight Division Fight: Matt Hughes (43-7-0) vs. Matt Serra (16-5-0)

Referee: Steve Mazzagatti

Round One

The round begins with Matt Hughes throwing a few jabs at Matt Serra, Matt Serra then connects on a head punch to Matt Hughes that drops him. Matt Serra follows it up by dropping Matt Hughes a second time with a punching combination, Matt Hughes then forces Matt Serra into the cage wall. Matt Hughes then hits Matt Serra with a few knee strikes to the body while holding him against the cage wall, Matt Serra eventually gets free and hits Matt Hughes with a leg kick. Matt Hughes then uses a trip to take Matt Serra to the ground, Matt Hughes then gets back control on Matt Serra. Matt Serra breaks free and both fighters stand up, Matt Serra attempts a head kick as the round ends.

Round Two

The round starts with Matt Hughes hitting Matt Serra with a jab, Matt Serra then hits Matt Hughes in the face with a left hook. Matt Hughes then hit’s a charging Matt Serra with a knee strike, Matt Hughes then scores a takedown on Matt Serra. Matt Hughes then transitions into Matt Serra’s half guard, Matt Hughes then starts throwing punches at the body and head of Matt Serra. Matt Hughes then hits Matt Serra with a series of punches to the face, referee Steve Mazzagatti stands the fighters up as the round ends.

Round Three

The final round begins with Matt Hughes attempting a knee strike on Matt Serra, Matt Hughes then hits Matt Serra with a punching combo before taking him down. Matt Serra then transitions Matt Hughes into full guard, Matt Hughes then breaks out of Matt Serra’s triangle choke before going back into half guard. Referee Steve Mazzagatti stands the fights up after some less than thrilling action, Matt Serra then scores a judo takedown on Matt Hughes. Matt Serra then postures up and hits Matt Hughes with a few punches to the face, Matt Serra then attempts a kimura as the round ends.

Fight Result: Matt Hughes def. Matt Serra by Unanimous Decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28)

Post fight interview with Matt Hughes, who says his hatred of Matt Serra was a motivating factor in the fight and he says that he wanted to use his wrestling skills to win the fight. Matt Hughes says he is a free agent now and has fulfilled his contract with the UFC. Matt Serra is up next, he says that Matt Hughes has a strong chin and the rivalry is over between them.

Main Event: UFC Light Heavyweight Title Fight: Rashad Evans (Champion) (18-0-1) vs. Lyoto Machida (14-0-0)

Referee: Mario Yamasaki

Round One

The fight begins with both fighters throwing fakes at each other, Rashad Evans then throws a few jabs in the direction of Lyoto Machida. Rashad Evans then launches a flurry of punches at Lyoto Machida, Lyoto Machida then hits Rashad Evans with a kick to the body. Lyoto Machida then hits Rashad Evans with a second body kick, Lyoto Machida then drops Rashad Evans with a right to the head. They go back to their feet and Lyoto Machida then hits Rashad Evans with a leg kick as the round ends.

Round Two

The round begins with Lyoto Machida hitting Rashad Evans with a leg kick, Lyoto Machida then hits Rashad Evans with a body kick. Lyoto Machida and Rashad Evans both connect on a flurry of punches thrown at each other at the same time, Rashad Evans then connects on a body kick to Lyoto Machida. Lyoto Machida then drops Rashad Evans with an upper cut, Lyoto Machida continues to assault Rashad Evans until a left hook to the face knocks him out and referee Mario Yamasaki steps in and ends the fight.

Fight Result: Lyoto Machida def. Rashad Evans by TKO (3:57, R2) to win the UFC Light Heavyweight Title

Post fight interview with Lyoto Machida, who says he has tried all his life to be a champion and he is very happy to finally become one, then he says that he plans on keeping the belt for a long time and that karate is back. Lyoto Machida then grabs the microphone and says that dreams are possible and he thanks everybody in his life for their support. Rashad Evans is interviewed next, he says that he is disappointed in his loss and he gives all credit to Lyoto Machida for his excellent strategy.

The preliminary fight between Tim Hague & Pat Barry is shown.
