Matt “The Real One†Grice (9-2-0) vs. Shannon Gugerty (11-3-0)
Matt Grice has had a less than stellar run in the UFC thus far, with a lone victory coming over Jason Black, while suffering losses to Terry Etim and Matt Veach. Before suffering the loss to Terry Etim at UFC 70, Matt Grice was on an eight fight undefeated streak that lasted nearly two years. In a interesting career note for Matt Grice, any of his fights that have gone past the opening round have ended up going to a decision. Matt Grice is a fighter who is comfortable wherever the fight ends up, with six victories coming by knockout and submission. Thus far in his UFC career, Shannon Gugerty holds a victory over Dale Hartt and has suffered a loss to Spencer Fisher. Before coming to the UFC in 2008, Shannon Gugerty was a longtime veteran of the Total Combat promotion, where ten of his fourteen career fights occurred in. While in the Total Combat promotion, Shannon Gugerty fought longtime WEC veteran Cub Swanson in a two fight series, splitting the series with a lone win and lone loss. Shannon Gugerty will be looking to put the fight on the ground, with eight victories coming by way of submission.
My Prediction: Shannon Gugerty
UFC Middleweight Division Fight
“The Doberman†CB Dollaway (8-1-0) vs. Tom “The Filthy Mauler†Lawler (5-1-0)
CB Dollaway made it to the UFC following a run as a contestant on the UFC Ultimate Fighter 7, where he lost to Amir Saddaloh in the finals. After suffering that loss, CB Dollaway has gone on a two fight win streak in the UFC with victories over Jesse Taylor and Mike Massenzio. Before coming to the UFC, CB Dollaway fought in the HDNet Fights promotion, where he defeated Hans Marrero. Prior to suffering the loss to Amir Saddolah, CB Dollaway was on a six fight undefeated streak that lasted nearly two years. CB Dollaway will be looking to use his striking skills to gain the victory, with five wins coming by knockout. Like his opponent, Tom Lawlor was a contestant of the UFC Ultimate Fighter, but it was season eight instead of season seven. Tom Lawlor won in his lone UFC appearance thus far, with a victory over Kyle Kingsbury at the UFC Ultimate Fighter 8 Finale. Tom Lawlor is also a veteran of the Full Force Promotions group, where he defeated Cesar Barros and Travis Bartlett. Of his seven career fights, only one of them has gone past the opening round, which speaks to Tom Lawlor’s finishing abilities. Tom Lawlor is a fighter who is comfortable wherever the fight ends up, with four victories coming by knockout and submission.
My Prediction: CB Dollaway
UFC Welterweight Division Fight
Dong Hyun “Stun Gun†Kim (11-0-1) vs. TJ Grant (14-2-0)
Dong Hyun Kim has had an interesting run thus far in his UFC career with victories over Jason Tan and Matt Brown, while fighting Karo Parisyan to a no contest at UFC 94. Before coming to the UFC in 2008, Dong Hyun Kim fought internationally in the DEEP promotion, where he went undefeated with eight victories in the promotion. Dong Hyun Kim is currently on an eleven fight undefeated streak that has lasted well over five years thus far. Dong Hyun Kim will be looking to use his striking skills to gain the victory, with six wins coming by knockout. TJ Grant made his UFC debut at UFC 97 in April 2009, where he defeated Ryo Chonnan by split decision. Before coming to the UFC in 2009, TJ Grant fought primarily in the TKO and King Of The Cage promotions. TJ Grant also holds victories over two UFC veterans in Forrest Petz and Chad Reiner, both of whom he defeated in 2008. TJ Grant will be entering this fight on a five fight winning streak, with his last loss coming to Jesse Bongfeldt in February 2008. TJ Grant will be looking to put the fight on the ground, with twelve victories coming by way of submission.
My Prediction: Dong Hyun Kim
UFC Light Heavyweight Division Fight
Jon “Bones†Jones (8-0-0) vs. “Irish†Jake O’Brien (11-2-0)
Jon Jones made his UFC debut in 2008, garnering two impressive victories over Andre Gusmao and Stephan Bonnar. Jon Jones made his professional MMA debut in 2008 as well, fighting seven times in that year, with his most impressive victory coming over the aforementioned Andre Gusmao. Before coming to the UFC, Jon Jones didn’t have a single fight go to a decision, which speaks to his finishing abilities. This fight against Jake O’Brien will mark Jon Jones first fight in over six months, which is the longest break between fights thus far Jon Jones has had in his career. Jon Jones will be looking to use his striking skills to gain the victory, with five wins coming by way of knockout. Jake O’Brien is a veteran of UFC competition, with victories over Kristof Midoux, Josh Shockman, Heath Herring and Christian Wellisch, while suffering losses to Andrei Arlovski and Cain Velasquez. Jake O’Brien also spent time in the Legends Of Fighting promotion, where he holds victories over Anthony Ferguson and Jonathan Ivey. Jake O’Brien once competed in the UFC Heavyweight Division, but has since moved to the UFC Light Heavyweight Division, where he is undefeated at this point. Jake O’Brien will be looking to use ground and pound to gain the victory, with eight victories coming by knockout.
My Prediction: Jon Jones
UFC Lightweight Division Fight
Mac Dazing (18-6-1) vs. Jim Miller (13-2-0)
Mac Danzig entered the UFC after a successful stint on the UFC Ultimate Fighter 6, where he defeated Tommy Speer in the finals. Following that victory, Mac Danzig went onto defeat Mark Bocek before suffering defeats to Clay Guida and Josh Neer. Before coming to the UFC, Mac Danzig was a veteran of the King Of The Cage promotion and fought two UFC veterans in Jason Von Flue and Kurt Pellegrino. The fight against Jim Miller will mark the first time in over two years that Mac Danzig will be entering a fight on a two fight losing streak. Mac Danzig will be looking to put the fight on the ground, with ten victories coming by way of submission. Jim Miller has had a successful run in the UFC thus far with victories over David Baron and Matt Wiman, with a lone loss coming against Gray Maynard. Jim Miller also competed in the now defunct International Fight League, where he defeated WEC veteran Bart Palaszweski. Before coming to the UFC, Jim Miller fought and lost to current UFC star Frankie Edgar at Reality Fight 14 in November of 2006. Jim Miller will be looking to put the fight on the ground, with nine prior victories coming by way of submission.
My Prediction: Jim Miller
UFC Light Heavyweight Division Fight
Mark “The Hammer†Coleman (15-9-0) vs. “American Psycho†Stephan Bonnar (11-5-0)
Mark Coleman will be the only fighter currently in the UFC Hall Of Fame that will be competing on the UFC 100 card. Mark Coleman is a former UFC Heavyweight Champion and made his UFC return after a near decade long hiatus by losing to Mauricio Rua at UFC 93. In between UFC stints, Mark Coleman fought in the PRIDE organization, where he fought the likes of Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, Kazuyuki Fujita, Allan Goes, Don Frye, Fedor Emelianenko and Mirko Cro Cop. In his initial run in the UFC, Mark Coleman fought early MMA stars like Don Frye, Pedro Rizzo, Gary Goodridge and Dan Severn. Mark Coleman will be looking to put the fight on the ground, with eight victories coming by submission. Stephan Bonnar is a longtime UFC veteran who got into the promotion after a successful run on the UFC Ultimate Fighter 1, where he lost to Forrest Griffin in the finals. Thus far in his UFC career, Stephan Bonnar has defeated Sam Hoger, James Irvin, Keith Jardine, Mike Nickels and Eric Schafer, with losses coming to Forrest Griffin, Rashad Evans and Jon Jones. Before coming to the UFC, Stephan Bonnar fought and lost to current UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Lyoto Machida at Jungle Fight 1in September 2003. Stephan Bonnar will be looking to put the fight on the ground, with seven previous victories coming by way of submission.
My Prediction: Stephan Bonnar
