THE LUCHA REPORT

By Kris Zellner on 9/27/2009 10:05 AM

AAA President Joaquin Roldan said that Charly Manson told Marisela Pena last week that he felt very uncomfortable and planned on leaving AAA but they thought that he wouldn’t actually try to follow through with those plans because of their current contract. Roldan hinted that legal action could be taken if necessary to block Manson from working elsewhere.

Antunio Gonzalez has become the new promoter for Arena Solidaridad and stated yesterday that he plans on having EMLL talent return to Monterrey every Sunday starting on 10/11.

Fabian el Gitano stated this week that he really wants a shot at Hijo del Texano’s NWA Lt. Heavyweight Title and he is willing to put his mask on the line to get the match done. Fabian said that he wants to prove himself to the fans that he is ready to become a main player in EMLL and that taking Texano’s title will achieve that goal. Fabian thinks that Texano is a great wrestler and respects him a lot but wants to use him as a stepping stone to take on the big rudos such as Averno & Ultimo Guerrero. Fabian then talked about his past as a Chippendale’s dancer some 15 years ago and said that he definitely enjoyed that time but wrestling is the main passion in his life right now and thinks that this the best way that he can be a successful entertainer.

Juventud Guerrera has started the School of Hard Juice Academy where he will offer the opportunity for men, women, & children to learn how to become wrestlers. Juventud has enlisted the help of his father Fuerza Guerrera of course along with Negro Navarro, Skayde, & Solar I to help train the students for a future in the wrestling business. Juventud said that the most advanced students will get a shot early to get booked on SUPER-X shows to get some experience and to also help fill out the undercards.

Konan Big is dead………..because he was forced to change his name to Buffalo because he is launching a career as a singer and since he plans on selling albums, he must change his name because the copyright to the name Konan is held by the Governor of California and the star of the Conan the Barbarian movies, Arnold Schwarzenegger. Buffalo’s manager Juanita Parra said that Buffalo is a great singer and that he is already getting offers from the Cristina & Don Francisco shows on Univision. Buffalo said that his music will have a Northern Mexican feel featuring some romantic ballads. Buffalo also is planning to work on some movies as well and already has a role for a movie set to start filming in early 2010. Buffalo said that he has used the name of Konan Big throughout his career and has made a big name for himself so this will be a change for him but he said that the name Konan Big could live on in the lucha world because famous Monterrey promoter Carlos Elizondo owns the name and could give it to someone else.

Perros del Mal held press conferences this week to officially announce that Charly Manson, Hijo del Lizmark, & Oriental have become the newest members of the promotion. Oriental & Lizmark both said that they think they will get more offers now to wrestle on the independent scene since they aren’t held back by a major promotion and Lizmark said himself that he is now ready to rededicate himself to wrestling after years of discontentment.

Shocker gave an interview to Super Luchas this week to discuss his recent whereabouts and why he was taken off the Arena Mexico shows the past two weeks. Shocker said that he got into a big argument with EMLL officials on his birthday on 9/12 but said that he thought everything ended up fine between them but they got mad at him when he told them that he couldn’t work the Anniversary show because of a “personal problem that involved physicality (he got robbed supposedly).” Shocker said that since then everything has been worked out and that he has been working shows in Guadalajara since then so they haven’t removed him from those shows and he is in good health so he is ready to return to the main scene and to take out the evil Japanese to show that Mexico is #1. Shocker closed by confirming that internet sensation ‘Strongman” Jon Andersen would be still making his debut in EMLL next week.

Terry Funk was at Arena Mexico last night visiting as he is a part of the big Lucha Fanfest today in Mexico City and he did a 45 minute interview with the radio guys that cover the Friday show at Arena Mexico.

There was an AAA spot show in Zincantepec that was supposed to take place on Thursday night but it was cancelled even with the fans in the building along with the wrestlers. Everything was setup at ringside ready to go and the media was there ready to cover but everyone was soon notified that the show would be cancelled due to lack of funds, which really pissed off the fans. The promoter then came out and tried to explain to everyone that they were $20,000 pesos short of their budget and the wrestlers decided to leave since they weren’t getting paid. Thankfully everything calmed down and the fans left without tearing the building down in a riot.
