PREVIEWING THE UFC 104: MACHIDA VS. SHOGUN SPIKE TV CARD

By David Tees on 10/22/2009 11:20 AM
UFC Heavyweight Division Fight

Antoni Hardonk (8-5-0) vs. Pat “HD” Barry (4-1-0)

Antoni Hardonk has had an interesting run thus far in the UFC, defeating the likes of Sherman Pendergarst, Colin Robinson, Eddie Sanchez and Mike Wessel, while suffering defeats to Justin McCully, Frank Mir and Cheick Kongo. Before entering the UFC in late 2006, Antoni Hardonk scored a victory over UFC Ultimate Fighter contestant Wes Sims at Rumble On The Rock 6 in 2004. Antoni Hardonk will be looking to use his striking skills to win the fight, with six victories coming by knockout. Pat Barry made his UFC debut at UFC 92 with a victory over Dan Evensen, while suffering a defeat to Tim Hague at UFC 98. The only other promotion Pat Barry saw action in was the Combat USA promotion, where he defeated Mike Delaney, John George and Simon Diouf. Pat Barry will be looking to use his striking skills to win the fight, with all of his victories coming by knockout.

My Prediction: Antoni Hardonk

UFC Light Heavyweight Division Fight

Ryan “Darth” Bader (9-0-0) vs. Eric “Red” Schafer (11-3-2)

Ryan Bader entered the UFC as the winner of the UFC Ultimate Fighter 8, where he defeated Vinny Magalhaes in the finals. In his other UFC appearance, Ryan Bader defeated Carmelo Marrera by unanimous decision at UFC Ultimate Fight Night 18. Ryan Bader made his professional MMA debut in 2007, where he fought all six of his professional fights that year. Ryan Bader is a fighter who is comfortable wherever the fight ends up, with seven victories coming by knockout and submission. Eric Schafer has had a decent run in the UFC with victories over Rob MacDonald, Houston Alexander and Antonio Mendes, while suffering defeats to Michael Bisping and Stephan Bonnar. Before entering the UFC in 2006, Eric Schafer defeated UFC veteran Clay Guida’s brother, Jason Guida, who was briefly featured on the UFC Ultimate Fighter 8. Eric Schafer will be looking to put the fight on the ground, with seven victories coming by way of submission.

My Prediction: Ryan Bader
