THIS WEEK IN WRESTLING

By Zach Levine on 10/24/2009 1:35 PM
Hey all, and welcome back to This Week In Wrestling. Big week, let's get to it!

1. Gotta kick it off this week with the one, Desmond Wolfe. Wow. Never before have I looked forward to TNA Impact so much. A few things to discuss. First off, I can't imagine the boys in the WWE are too happy about Nigel blowing them off for TNA. Me thinks Danielson will be coming in sooner than later now. Second, how about TNA immediately feuding him with Angle? All I know is that when this is done, I will very much be looking forward to his feuds with Joe, AJ, Daniels, etc. And third, I also give kudos to TNA for not throwing him into the British Invasion immediately. He's gonna be a huge star for the company, let him build slowly.

2. Also, props must be given to Ring of Honor. Take a look around the wrestling landscape, and the biggest stars have come from that company. Look at Punk's big year, Sydal continuing a solid stretch, Joe, AJ, Daniels, Guns, now Nigel. If done right, a well produced three hour retrospective on the ROH stars of yesteryear could be a must have DVD.

3. Interesting move by the WWE changing out their Bragging Rights PPV. My only beef is them getting rid of Ziggler and McIntyre. Escobar and Cryme Tyme didn't need to be on the team, so it could have very easily been a three on three match with Hardy and the Harts against Escobar and Cryme Tyme. Still though, doubt that Smackdown wins this matchup.

4. Hey, I thought that Chavo and Hornswoggle were getting over their feud. Can anyone tell me what happened to that? Blink of the eye and they're back to being enemies? Just seems kinda strange, that's all.

5. Great ECW match between Christian and Jericho this week. Shocked to see Christian pull out the win, but awesome to see. My only issue now? Deep down a part of me thinks that Yoshi Tatsu is walking out of ECW as champ next week. They're building him up pretty quickly, and that jet pack looks like its ready to be strapped. They could book it as a huge upset or something, but wouldn't surprise me, all I'm saying.

6. Solid ECW overall. Between Shelton's German suplex, and Birchall and Hurricane's continuous feud, this has become a really enjoyable show. For those who still doubt it, give it a chance. Must worse hours of wrestling on television these days.

7. Surprised to see Lance Cade get resigned by the WWE. I was never too big a fan of his. I think it comes from him saying something like people need to respect him and Murdoch cause they've been wrestling for 10 years. Yea, but 2 of them on television. Something didn't click with him in the first run, even when he got a super push in the Jericho-Michaels feud last year. Here's hoping this go around works out better.

8. Geez between Hogan and Flair, rough week for some of my old time favorites. Be nice to see a superstar retire into wealth and stay out of the tabloids. [Looking at you Undertaker...]

9. Talked about this a little earlier, but who do you guys think will be the next WWE call up? Escobar was in developmental for like 15 years, so now that he's out, I have to believe someone else just moved up to the on deck position. I'm guessing either Alex Riley, Heath Slater or Danielson just jumps right into the mix. Hoping for the latter.

10. Want to leave with one final Bragging Rights prediction. Cena wins the Ironman Match by a score of 4-3. Orton has it all tied up 3-3, about to go in for the punt to win it, and Dibiase comes out, gives him Dreamstreet, and Cena pins for the victory. This leads to a Dibiase-Orton feud, as well as Cena's next feud, against oh let's just say MVP.
