THIS WEEK IN WRESTLING

By Zach Levine on 11/21/2009 9:24 AM
Hey hey everyone and welcome back to This Week In Wrestling. Had to take a week off last week for personal reasons, but in the immortal theme song of one Eric Bischoff, I'm Back...and better than ever. Let's get to it my friends.

1. Awesome, awesome TNA pay per view this week. Had a big smile on my face watching the Desmond-Angle match and thinking about how the WWE officials must be kicking themselves for losing out on him. Couple that with the great AJ-Joe-Daniels match and the Red-Homicide match, and I think it may have been one of the best pay per views of the year.

2. And now we have TNA Impact, and I have two positives and two negatives to throw out there. Two positives - 1. I'm pleasantly surprised with what they did to Jesse the Navy Seal. I like the new look and think it will work out well. 2. Anytime Raven is on tv is a good thing. His verbal work with Foley was excellent, and I popped for him constantly referring to him as Miss Foley's baby boy.

3. The two negatives however. First, why did they have a Tomko interview? All that was missing was the giant neon arrow behind him that read "AJ's attacker." How come they didn't just let him get revealed as AJ's attacker and leave it at that? Second negative - wow that was a brutal segment with Homicide and ODB. This is one segment that if it was run on WWE television would be mocked mercilessly. Just curious what everyone else thinks.

4. Wanted to comment quickly on the Burchill move to RAW. Not sure how I feel about it. I'm a big Burchill supporter as most longterm readers know, so I'm kinda bummed he got bumped from my favorite WWE program. Personally I have two ideas for what to do now. First, how about we swap him for Ziggler? Smackdown could use Burchill, and I'd like to see a Christian/Ziggler feud. Secondly, just a cute idea, but why not have Burchill pretend to be a supervillain to fight off the Hurricane? Hell he's even nicknamed "The Ripper." Might seem kinda silly, but if the WWE is going PG, why not try it.

5. Awesome Kofi-Orton segment on RAW this week. Loved the brawl and especially the double leg drop through the table. Kofi is a star, and I would love to see a match between him and Orton at the TLC pay per view. I know there's no title to fight over, but would make a solid match.

6. Speaking of the TLC Pay Per View, I have to think it will be run like the Hell in a Cell PPV and we will have three matches. If I may put my prediction hat on...there we go...alright Match 1 - Undertaker vs. Jericho, Match 2 - Morrison vs Ziggler, Match 3 - Cena vs. HBK

7. Going back to ECW real quick. In the last month, we lost Sheamus and gained Vance Archer. Lost Striker, gained Byron Saxton. Lost the Burchills, who do we gain? I'm really pulling for Carlito or Primo, either guy needs a boost on the show. Least with Carlito we could have him fight Shelton or Christian or something.

8. LOVED Foley on the Daily Show this week. My lord I hope he becomes a recurring Senior Asskicker. Great great segment and proud of him for it. Seemed like a natural standing next to Jon Stewart talking about the youth. Kudos to all involved.

9. A heads up for next week's column, which I've been looking forward to for a while. This will be the inaugural TNA vs WWE Invasion column. Look out for it, already working on it and should be a doozy.

10. And let's end out the week with some Survivor Series predictions. Batista beats Rey, injures him and knocks him out for a while. Team Miz beats Team Morrison, sole survivor Drew McIntyre. Team Kofi beats Team Orton, sole survivors Kofi and Christian. Team McCool beats Team Mickie, McCool sole survivor. Taker retains as does Cena. Should be a fun pay per view.
