PREVIEWING THE UFC 110: NOGUEIRA VS. VELASQUEZ PRELIMINARY CARD

By David Tees on 2/18/2010 1:33 PM
UFC Light Heavyweight Division Fight

James Te Huna (11-4-0) vs. Igor Pokrajac (21-6-0)

James Te Huna will be making his UFC debut in this fight, but he is a veteran of the Xtreme Fight Club and Cage Fighting Championships promotions. While in those promotions, James Te Huna defeated Matt Knight, Rocky Huni, Kym Robinson, Anthony Rea, Priscus Fogagnolo and Anthony Perosh. James Te Huna will be entering the fight riding a five fight win streak that has currently lasted over a year. James Te Huna will be looking to use his striking skills to win the fight, with six victories coming by knockout. Igor Pokrajac made his UFC debut at UFC 103 in September 2009, suffering a defeat to Vladimir Matyushenko by unanimous decision. That loss at UFC 103 snapped an eight fight winning streak for Igor Pokrajac, which had last well over a year. In an interesting career note for Igor Pokrajac, the fight at UFC 103 marked the first MMA fight in North America for the fighter. Igor Pokrajac will be looking to use his striking skills to win the fight, with eleven victories coming by knockout.

My Prediction: Igor Pokrajac

UFC Middleweight Division Fight

CB “The Doberman” Dollaway (9-2-0) vs. Goran Reljic (8-0-0)

CB Dollaway has had a successful run in the UFC, defeating Jesse Taylor, Mike Massenzio and Jay Silva, while suffering defeats to Amir Sadollah and Tom Lawlor. CB Dollaway started off his MMA career in impressive fashion, with a six fight undefeated streak that had lasted well over a year. CB Dollaway entered the UFC after being a finalist on the UFC Ultimate Fighter 7, which was won by Amir Sadollah. CB Dollaway will be looking to use his striking skills to win the fight, with five victories coming by knockout. Goran Reljic made his FC debut at UFC 84 in May 2008, defeating Wilson Gouveia by TKO in the second round. Goran Reljic is a veteran of the Noc Skorpiona promotion, where he defeated both Nenad Djuric and Bojan Mihajlovic. It has been nearly two years since Goran Reljic last had an MMA fight, so cage rust can become a factor in the fight. Goran Reljic will be looking to put the fight on the ground, with five victories coming by way of submission.

My Prediction: Goran Reljic

UFC Welterweight Division Fight

Chris “Lights Out” Lytle (27-17-5) vs. Brian Foster (13-4-0)

Chris Lytle has had a very long run in the UFC, defeating Tiki Ghosn, Ronald Jhun, Jason Gilliam, Kyle Bradley, Paul Taylor and Kevin Burns, while suffering defeats to Ben Earwood, Robbie Lawler, Karo Parisyan, Joe Riggs, Matt Serra, Matt Hughes, Thiago Alves, Josh Koscheck and Marcus Davis. In an interesting career note for Chris Lytle, it has been well over three years since the fighter has fought outside of the UFC. Chris Lytle will be looking to put the fight on the ground, with seventeen victories coming by way of submission. Brian Foster has had an interesting run in the UFC, defeating Brock Larson and suffering a defeat to Rick Story. Brian Foster is also a veteran of the Masters Of The Cage promotion, where he defeated Deric Harris, Jeff Davis and Steve Carl, while suffering defeats to Jeff Davis and Anthony Waldburger. In the last two years, Brian Foster has averaged four professional MMA fights a year, also averaging three victories per year. Brian Foster is a fighter who is comfortable wherever the fight ends up, with thirteen victories coming by knockout and submission.

My Prediction: Chris Lytle

UFC Light Heavyweight Division Fight

“The American Psycho” Stephan Bonnar (11-6-0) vs. “The Polish Experiment” Krzysztof Soszynski (18-9-1)

Stephan Bonnar has had a long run in the UFC, defeating Sam Hoger, James Irvin, Keith Jardine, Mike Nickels and Eric Schafer, while suffering defeats to Forrest Griffin, Rashad Evans, Jon Jones and Mark Coleman. In an interesting career note for Stephan Bonnar, his fight against Forrest Griffin at the UFC Ultimate Fighter 1 Finale was named “Best Fight In UFC History” prior to UFC 100. It has been nearly two years since Stephan Bonnar last achieved a UFC victory, with his last victory coming over Eric Schafer at UFC 77. Stephan Bonnar will be looking to put the fight on the ground, with seven victories coming by way of submission. Krzysztof Soszynski has had a successful run in the UFC, defeating Shane Primm, Andre Gusmao and Brian Stann, while suffering a lone defeat to Brandon Vera. Krzysztof Soszynski was also a veteran of the International Fight League, where he fought top MMA fighters like Ben Rothwell, Mike Whitehead and Reese Andy. Krzysztof Soszynski got into the UFC as a participant on the UFC Ultimate Fighter 8, which was won by Ryan Bader and Efrain Escudero. Krzysztof Soszynski will be looking to put the fight on the ground, with seven victories coming by submission.

My Prediction: Krzysztof Soszynski

UFC Light Heavyweight Division Fight

Elvis “The King Of Rock N’ Rumble” Sinosic (8-11-2) vs. Chris “The Hammer” Haseman (20-16-0)

Elvis Sinosic has had a rather disappointing run in the UFC, defeating Jeremy Horn, while suffering defeats to Tito Ortiz, Evan Tanner, Renato Sobral, Forrest Griffin, Alessio Sakara and Michael Bisping. It has been over two years since Elvis Sinosic last competed in an MMA fight, so cage rust can become a factor in the fight. Elvis Sinosic previous lost to Chris Haseman in an MMA fight, which occurred more than a decade ago in 1997. Elvis Sinosic is a fighter who is comfortable wherever the fight ends up, with eight victories coming by knockout and submission. Chris Haseman has only fought once before in the UFC, suffering a defeat to Evan Tanner at UFC 38 in 2002. Chris Haseman is a longtime veteran of the Rings promotion, where he fought top MMA athletes like Fedor Emelianenko, Matt Hughes and Jeremy Horn. It has been well over a year since Chris Haseman last had an MMA fight, so cage rust can become a factor in the fight. Chris Haseman will be looking to put the fight on the ground, with fourteen victories coming by way of submission.

My Prediction: Chris Haseman
