By David Tees on 3/5/2010 11:39 PM
WEC Lightweight Division Fight

Bart “Bartimus” Palaszewski (33-13-0) vs. Karen Darabedyan (9-1-0)

Bart Palaszewski has had an interesting run in the WEC, defeating Alex Karalexis and Anthony Pettis, while suffering defeats to Ricardo Lamas and Anthony Njokuani. Bart Palaszewski had a very long run in the International Fight League, defeating John Shackleford, Steve Bruno, Marcio Feitosa, Ivan Menjivar, Ryan Schultz, John Gunderson, John Strawn and Harris Sarmiento, while suffering defeats to Chris Horodecki, Deividas Taurosevicius and Jim Miller. Bart Palaszewski started off his MMA career in a rather unsuccessful way, with a four fight losing streak that had lasted over a year. Bart Palaszewski had also competed in the first event for the Adrenaline MMA promotion, defeating Jeff Cox. Bart Palaszewski will be entering the fight riding a two fight winning streak, which has currently lasted over five months. Bart Palaszewski is a fighter who will be looking to use his striking skills to win the fight, with fifteen victories coming by knockout. Karen Darabedyan made his WEC debut at WEC 44 in November 2009, defeating Rob McCullough by split decision. In an interesting career note for Karen Darabedyan, this fight at WEC 47 will mark the first time in the three plus year career for the fighter that he has fought twice in the same promotion. Karen Darabedyan had a breakout year in 2009, fighting five times that year and winning all five of those fights. Karen Darabedyan has also competed in the Gladiator Challenge promotion, where he defeated Saad Awad by split decision. Karen Darabedyan will be entering the fight riding a seven fight winning streak, which has currently lasted over a year. Karen Darabedyan will be looking to use his striking skills to win the fight, with three victories coming by knockout.

My Prediction: Bart Palaszewski

WEC Featherweight Division Fight

Deividas Taurosevicius (12-3-0) vs. LC Davis (15-2-0)

Deividas Taurosevicius is currently undefeated in WEC competition, defeating both Javier Vazquez and Mackens Sermerzier. Deividas Taurosevicius has also spent time in the International Fight League, defeating Zac George, Savant Young and Bart Palaszewski, while suffering a lone defeat to Ryan Schultz. Early in his MMA career, Deividas Taurosevicius had fought UFC veterans Dan Lauzon and Frankie Edgar, winning one of those fights. Deividas Taurosevicius also competed in the Reality Fighting promotion, defeating James Jones and Jay Isip, while suffering a defeat to Frankie Edgar. Deividas Taurosevicius will be entering the fight riding a two fight winning streak, which has lasted over five months. Deividas Taurosevicius will be looking to put the fight on the ground, with eight victories coming by way of submission. LC Davis is currently undefeated in WEC competition, with victories coming over Javier Vazquez and Diego Nunes. LC Davis also competed in the International Fight League, with victories over Jay Estrada, Conor Heun and Rafael Dias, while suffering a lone defeat to Wagnney Fabiano. LC Davis started off his career in the Titan Fighting Championships promotion, where he defeated Ace Anderson, Mike Lindquist, Tim Gorman, John Smith, George Henderson and Dan Sullivan. LC Davis spent some time overseas competing in the Sengoku promotion, where he suffered a defeat to Michihiro Omigawa. LC Davis started off his career in impressive fashion, with a nine fight undefeated streak that had lasted over a year. LC Davis will be looking to put the fight on the ground, with six victories coming by way of submission.

My Prediction: LC Davis

WEC Featherweight Division Fight

Jens “Little Evil” Pulver (22-12-1) vs. Javier “Showtime” Vazquez (13-4-0)

Jens Pulver has had a very poor run in the WEC, defeating Chase Beebe, while suffering losses to Urijah Faber, Leonard Garcia and Josh Grispi. Jens Pulver also competed in the UFC, defeating David Velasquez, Joao Rogue, John Lewis, Caol Uno, Dennis Hallman and BJ Penn, while suffering defeats to Joe Lauzon and BJ Penn. Jens Pulver also competed in the PRIDE promotion, defeating Tomomi Iwama and Kenji Arai, while suffering defeats to Takanori Gomi and Hayato Sakurai. Jens Pulver has had a poor run in MMA in recent years, winning only one of his last seven professional MMA fights. Prior to entering the UFC in late 2000, Jens Pulver had already competed against UFC veterans Joe Stevenson and Din Thomas. It has been over two years since Jens Pulver last achieved an MMA victory, with his last win coming over Cub Swanson in December 2007. Jens Pulver will be looking to use his striking skills to win the fight, with thirteen victories coming by knockout. Javier Vazquez has had a poor run in the WEC, suffering defeats to both LC Davis and Deividas Taurosevicius. Javier Vazquez is a veteran of the King Of The Cage promotion, where he defeated Antonio Emay, Farrell Frisby, Phillip Perez, Sean Wilmot and David Gardner, while suffering a lone defeat to Alberto Crane. Javier Vazquez went undefeated in the Elite XC promotion, defeating both Adriano Pereira and JC Pennington. Javier Vazquez also competed overseas in the Shooto promotion, defeating Robert Emerson and Rumino Sato. Javier Vazquez once took a three year break in active MMA competition, from November 2003 to February 2007. In 2009, Javier Vazquez competed on an Ultimate Chaos MMA card, the same card that featured former WWE and TNA star Bobby Lashley. Javier Vazquez will be looking to put the fight on the ground, with eight victories coming by way of submission.

My Prediction: Javier Vazquez

WEC Bantamweight Division Fight

Miguel Torres (37-2-0) vs. Joseph Benavidez (11-1-0)

Miguel Torres is the former WEC Bantamweight Champion and has had a successful run in the WEC, defeating Jeff Bedard, Chase Beebe, Yoshihiro Maeda, Manny Tapia and Takeya Mizugaki, while suffering a lone defeat to Brian Bowles. Miguel Torres has had two incredible win streaks thus far in his MMA career, lasting twenty fights and seventeen fights respectively. In an interesting career note for Miguel Torres, it took over two years for Miguel Torres to have one of his fights go to a decision. Besides the WEC, Miguel Torres had competed in other promotions like Extreme Shootfighting, Finkles Full Contact Fighting, Total Combat Challenge, Cage Rage, Super Brawl and Iron Heart Crown. Prior to entering the WEC in late 2007, Miguel Torres had already defeated PRIDE and WEC veteran Joe Pearson at a Total Fight Challenge event. Miguel Torres will be looking to put the fight on the ground, with twenty two victories coming by submission. Joseph Benavidez has had a successful run in the WEC, defeating Danny Martinez, Jeff Curran and Rani Yahya, with a lone loss coming to Dominick Cruz. Joseph Benavidez also competed in the Palace Fighting Championships promotion, where he defeated both Jason Georgianna and Maurice Eazel. Joseph Benavidez started off his MMA career in impressive fashion, with a ten fight undefeated streak that had lasted over three years. Joseph Benavidez also competed overseas in the DREAM promotion, defeating Junya Kudo by submission. Until he competed in the WEC in late 2008, Joseph Benavidez never had an MMA fight end by a decision. Joseph Benavidez’s lone career loss came to the aforementioned Dominick Cruz, who will be fighting for the WEC Bantamweight Title on this same fight card. Joseph Benavidez will be looking to put the fight on the ground, with six victories coming by way of submission.

My Prediction: Miguel Torres

WEC Bantamweight Title Fight

Brian Bowles (8-0-0) (Champion) vs. Dominick Cruz (14-1-0)

Brian Bowles became the WEC Bantamweight Champion after defeating Miguel Torres at WEC 42 in August 2009. In his other WEC fights, Brian Bowles had defeated Charlie Valencia, Marcos Galvao, Damacio Page and Will Ribeiro. Brian Bowles also competed in the Wild Bill Fight Night promotion, where he defeated Tim Honeycutt and Charles Nutt. In an interesting career note for Brian Bowles, it has been nearly three years since Brian Bowles last competed outside of the WEC. Of his eight career fights, none have ended by decision for Brian Bowles, which speaks to his finishing abilities. Brian Bowles will be entering the fight riding an eight fight undefeated streak, which has currently lasted nearly four years. Brian Bowles will be looking to put the fight on the ground, with five victories coming by way of submission. Dominick Cruz has had a successful run in the WEC, defeating Charlie Valencia, Ian McCall, Ivan Lopez and Joseph Benavidez, with a lone loss coming to Urijah Faber. Dominick Cruz started off his MMA career in the Rage In The Cage promotion, where he defeated Eddie Castro, Rosco McClellan, Tom Schwager, Josh Donahue, Nick Hedrick and Michael Barney. Dominick Cruz also went undefeated in the Total Combat promotion, defeating Dave Hisquierdo, Juan Miranda, Shad Smith and Kenneth Aimes. In an interesting career note for Dominick Cruz, the fighter has only fought in three promotions thus far in his five year MMA career. Dominick Cruz will be entering the fight riding a five fight winning streak that has lasted nearly two years. Dominick Cruz will be making WEC history in this title fight, as he will become the first WEC fighter ever to challenge for two different WEC titles in two different weight classes. Dominick Cruz will be looking to use his striking skills to win the fight, with five victories coming by knockout.

My Prediction: Brian Bowles
