Alex Karalexis (10-4-0) vs. Anthony “Showtime†Pettis (9-1-0)
Alex Karalexis has had a successful run in the WEC, defeating Thomas Denny, Olaf Alfonso, Josh Smith and Greg McIntyre, while suffering defeats to Bart Palaszewski and Ed Ratcliff. Alex Karalexis also competed in the UFC, defeating Josh Rafferty, while suffering defeats to Kenny Florian and Jason Von Flue. Alex Karalexis was a cast member on the first season of the UFC Ultimate Fighter, which was won by Diego Sanchez and Forrest Griffin. Alex Karalexis also went undefeated in the Mass Destruction promotion, defeating Julio Colon, Mike Varner, Ted Govola and Mike Littlefield. Alex Karalexis started off his MMA career in impressive fashion, with a five fight undefeated streak that had lasted over two years. It has been well over a year since Alex Karalexis last competed in a professional MMA fight, so cage rust can become a factor in the fight. Alex Karalexis will be looking to use his striking skills to win the fight, with five victories coming by knockout. Anthony Pettis has had a successful run in the WEC, defeating Mike Campbell and Danny Castillo, while suffering a defeat to Bart Palaszewski. Anthony Pettis was also a veteran of the Gladiator Fighting Series promotion, where he defeated Michael Skinner, George Barrazza, Mike Lambrecht, Sherron Leggett, Jay Ellis and Gabe Wallbridge. Prior to suffering the loss to Bart Palaszewski at WEC 45, Anthony Pettis was on an eight fight undefeated streak that had lasted over two years. It has been a little over a month since Anthony Pettis last competed in the WEC, so conditioning could become a factor in the fight. Anthony Pettis also competed in the Absolute Fighting Championships, defeating Kyle Volin by submission. Anthony Pettis is a fighter who is comfortable wherever the fight ends up, with eight victories coming by knockout and submission.
My Prediction: Alex Karalexis
WEC Featherweight Division Fight
Leonard “Bad Boy†Garcia (13-5-1) vs. Chan Sung “The Korean Zombie†Jung (10-1-0)
Leonard Garcia has had a successful run in the WEC, defeating Victor Estrada, Hiroyuki Takaya, Jens Pulver and Jameel Massouh, while suffering defeats to Mike Brown and Manny Gamburyan. Leonard Garcia also fought in the UFC, defeating Allen Berubie, while suffering defeats to Roger Huerta and Cole Miller. In a bit on WEC history, Leonard Garcia is the only fighter to compete on the pay-per-view that also competed at the first ever WEC event. Leonard Garcia is also a veteran of the Ring Of Fire promotion, defeating Puma Green, Shawn Simpson, Jake Hattan, Steve Horton, Justin James and Rocky Johnson. Leonard Garcia recently fought UFC veteran George Roop at WEC 47, as the fight ended in a draw after three rounds of action. Leonard Garcia will be looking to put the fight on the ground, with nine victories coming by way of submission. Chan Sung Jung will be making his WEC debut in this fight, but he most recently competed in the Sengoku promotion. While in Sengoku, Chan Sung Jung defeated Shintaro Ishiwatari and Matt Jaggers, while suffering a defeat to Masanori Kanehara. Chan Sung Jung also won the Korea FC Tournament Series by defeating Jung Beom Choi, Dae Han Choi and Jung Hun Jo. In an interesting career note, this fight against Leonard Garcia will mark the first time that Chan Sung Jung has had an MMA fight in North America. Chan Sung Jung started off his MMA career in impressive fashion, with a nine fight undefeated streak that had lasted nearly two years. It has been nearly a year since Chan Sung Jung last had an MMA fight, so cage rust can be a factor in the fight. Chan Sung Jung will be looking to put the fight on the ground, with six victories coming by way of submission.
My Prediction: Leonard Garcia
