By David Tees on 5/12/2010 3:44 PM
Shine Fights Light Heavyweight Division Fight

Alexandre “Cacareco” Ferreira (18-6-0) vs. Jamal “The Suit” Patterson (5-2-0)

Alexandre Ferreira will be making his Shine Fights debut in this fight, but he is a veteran of the Jungle Fight promotion. While in Jungle Fights, Alexandre Ferreira defeated Julio Cesar Costa, Vagner Curio and Walter Mazurkievicz. Alexandre Ferreira also competed once in the International Fight League, defeating Lew Polley by submission. Alexandre Ferreira also holds victories over two UFC veterans in Heath Herring and Brandon Lee Hinkle. In the last three years of Alexandre Ferreira’s MMA career, none of his fights have gone past the opening round. Alexandre Ferreira will be entering the fight riding a seven fight winning streak, which has currently lasted over three years. Alexandre Ferreira will be looking to put the fight on the ground, with seventeen victories coming by submission. Jamal Patterson will also be making his Shine Fights debut in this fight, but is a longtime veteran of the International Fight League. While in the International Fight League, Jamal Patterson had defeated Matt Horwich, Alex Schoenauer and Chris Baten, while suffering defeats to Reese Andy and Vladimir Matyushenko. Of his seven professional MMA fights, none have gone past the second round for Jamal Patterson, which speaks to the fighters finishing abilities. Despite competing in professional MMA for over four years, Jamal Patterson has only had one fight outside of the International Fight League. It has been well over a year since Jamal Patterson last competed in an MMA fight, so cage rust can become a factor in the fight. Jamal Patterson will be looking to put the fight on the ground, with all of his victories coming by submission.

My Prediction: Alexandre Ferreira

Shine Fights Middleweight Division Fight

Braulio “Carcara” Estimo (0-0-0) vs. Rick Hawn (5-0-0)

Braulio Estima will be making his professional MMA debut in this fight, but does enter the fight as the 2009 ADCC Absolute Champion. Rick Hawn will be making his Shine Fights debut in this fight, but he is a veteran of the Cage Fighting Xtreme promotion. While in Cage Fighting Xtreme, Rick Hawn defeated Bruno Decosta, Daniel Ford and Bruce Boyington. Rick Hawn also competed in the World Championship Fighting promotion, defeating both Billy Flynn and Tom Gallicchio. Of his five professional MMA fights, only one has gone to a decision for Rick Hawn, which speaks to the fighters finishing abilities. Rick Hawn will be entering the fight riding a five fight undefeated streak, which has lasted well over a year. Rick Hawn will be looking to use his striking skills to win the fight, with four victories coming by knockout.

My Prediction: Braulio Estima

Shine Fights Welterweight Division Fight

Nick “The Goat” Thompson (38-12-1) vs. Eduardo Pamplona (12-2-0)

Nick Thompson is making his Shine Fights debut in this fight, but he does have experience competing in the UFC. While in the UFC, Nick Thompson had defeated Keith Wisniewski and suffered a defeat to Karo Parisyan. Nick Thompson has had a long MMA career that has seen him take on top MMA fighters like Brian Gassaway, Yushin Okami, Ed Herman, Josh Neer, Chris Wilson, Ansar Chalangov, Eddie Alvarez, Mark Weir, Jake Shields, Paul Daley and Tim Kennedy. Nick Thompson also fought in Elite XC, suffering a defeat to Jake Shields in a fight to determine the first (and only) Elite XC Welterweight Champion. Nick Thompson also went undefeated in the Bodog Fight promotion, defeating Davion Peterson, Ansar Chalangov, Dustin Denes, Eddie Alvarez and Mark Weir. Nick Thompson will be looking to put the fight on the ground, with twenty two victories coming by submission. Eduardo Pamplona will also be making his Shine Fights debut in this fight, but he is a veteran of the Showfight promotion. While in the Showfight promotion, Eduardo Pamplona defeated Cleber Tavares, Alessandro Stefano, Jorge Patino and Jose Landi-Jons. Eduardo Pamplona also fought once in the International Fight League, suffering a defeat to Robbie Lawler. Eduardo Pamplona most recently competed in the M-1 promotion, defeating Dylan Clay, Erik Oganov and Do Hyung Kim. It has been nearly a year since Eduardo Pamplona last had an MMA fight, so cage rust can become a factor in the fight. Eduardo Pamplona will be entering the fight riding a seven fight winning streak, which has lasted just under three years. Eduardo Pamplona will be looking to use his striking skills to win the fight, with three victories coming by knockout.

My Prediction: Nick Thompson

Shine Fights Middleweight Division Fight

Murilo “Ninja” Rua (18-10-1) vs. Travis “The Gladiator” Galbraith (17-7-0)

Murilo Rua will be making his Shine Fights debut in this fight, and he is the brother of current UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Mauricio Rua. Murilo Rua had competed in the PRIDE promotion, where he defeated Daijiro Matsui, Alex Andrade, Mario Sperry, Akira Shoji, Alexander Otsuka and Murad Chunkaiev, while suffering defeats to Dan Henderson, Ricardo Arona, Kevin Randleman, Sergei Kharitonov, Quinton Jackson, Paulo Filho and Denis Kang. Murilo Rua also competed in Elite XC, defeating Joey Villasenor and Tony Bonello, while suffering defeats to Robbie Lawler and Benji Radach. Murilo Rua had also defeated UFC veteran Xavier Foupa-Pokam by submission at a Cage Rage event in December 2007. Murilo Rua will be entering the fight riding a two fight winning streak, which has currently lasted over eight months. Murilo Rua will be looking to use his striking skills to win the fight, with nine victories coming by knockout. Travis Galbraith will also be making his Shine Fights debut in this fight, but he is a veteran of the King Of The Cage promotion. While in King Of The Cage, Travis Galbraith had defeated Todd Seyler, Chris Peak, Ricardeau Francois, Craig Brown and Nick Hinchliffe, while suffering defeats to Nick Hinchliffe. Travis Galbraith also competed once in the PRIDE promotion, suffering a defeat to Kazuhiro Nakamura by TKO. Travis Galbraith had also once competed against current UFC Welterweight Champion Georges St. Pierre at a TKO Major League MMA event. Travis Galbraith will be looking to put the fight on the ground, with ten victories coming by way of submission.

My Prediction: Murilo Rua

Shine Fights Lightweight Division Fight

Ricardo “El Matador” Mayorga (0-0-0) vs. Din “Dinyero” Thomas (25-8-0)

Ricardo Mayorga will be making his professional MMA debut in this fight, but he does bring a lot of professional boxing experience with him into the fight. In his professional boxing career, Ricardso Mayorga has competed against top boxers like Felix Trinidad, Shane Mosley and Oscar De La Hoya. Din Thomas will be making his Shine Fights debut in this fight, but he is a longtime veteran of UFC competition. While in the UFC, Din Thomas had defeated Fabiano Iha, Matt Serra, Rich Clementi, Clay Guida and Jeremy Stephens, while suffering defeats to BJ Penn, Caol Uno, Kenny Florian and Josh Neer. Din Thomas started off his MMA career in impressive fashion, with a five fight undefeated streak that had lasted nearly a full years. Din Thomas has also competed overseas in professional MMA promotions like DEEP, Shooto and Inoki Bom-Ba-Ye. Din Thomas will be entering the fight riding a three fight winning streak, which has lasted a little over a year. Din Thomas will be looking to put the fight on the ground, with fourteen victories coming by way of submission.

My Prediction: Din Thomas
