MOOSIN MMA PPV LIVE REPORT FROM WORCESTER, MA
By James Brown on 5/22/2010 2:34 PM
Here live from DCU Center in Worcester, MA.
As of now (745pm), the place is empty. However, in the lobby, the Polish
community is out in full force with flags, soccer jerseys, etc. Quite
surprising to see, but really cool.
Bas is already cage side with two other guys pre-recording the PPV intro.
The entrance is a ramp way, with a black curtain, and a steel metal pyramid with
red lighting (2 small video screens on the side of the stage).

Stipe Miocic def Paul Barry via KO, RD 2 - Good opener. Miocic finished the
fight via ground and pound and Barry went out. Ref let it go on about ten
seconds too long.
Anthony Lapsley def Fred Belleton via Knee Bar, 0:59 of RD 1
Matt Lee def Brett Oteri via TKO, of RD 2
Dominating performances by the previous two winners. Oteri survived a knock
down in rd 1. Lee has huge hometown support training out of Worcester. Good
show thus far.
Place has filled in nicely, id estimate 3000 in the building thus far.

They are going live to PPV now, having passed over 2 prelims.
They are now airing the remaining 2 prelims on the PPV.
Forrest Petz def. Ralph Johnson via unanimous decision (30-27, 29-28, 29-28).
First round was good, however two and three were very dull. Good decision.
Crowd did not agree since Johnson was from the area. The family went nuts when
the decision was read. Did they watch the same fight? I told the guy next to
me Petz won and he freaked on me asking how I could not be for the hometown
guy? Seriously.
Lukasz Jurkowski def. Ho Jin Kim via TKO, RD 1. You would've thought this
Jurkowski kid was a God. The pop, the atmosphere, all for a guy...I'VE NEVER
HEARD OF! But at least he got the KO. Entertaining to say the least. Crowd
was super hot.
Roxanne Modafferi def. Tara LaRosa via split decision (30-27, 29-28, 28-29).
Roxy did rock LaRosa in round one, no way she won rounds 2 or 3. Her attempt at
a triangle was purely a defensive measure, with LaRosa never in trouble. Decent
fight. Bad decision.
Mike Campbell def. Yves Edwards via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28).
Then we got the worst decision by the Massachusetts Commission thus far. Worse
than Huerta/Curran from Bellator 2 weeks ago. Yves Edwards clearly won the
fight. But the hometown guy got the decision? Wow. It felt like Yves had
Campbell's back the whole third round, except for the time he was able to get a
powerbomb while defending a takedown against the cage. Fun fight but horrible
decision.
Rafael Natal def. Travis Lutter via KO, RD1. Lutter gassed after two minutes.
The guy needs some serious help in the cardio department, unless he just plans
to collect paychecks while he can. Natal looked good.
Travis Wiuff def. Josh Barnes via TKO, 0:34 RD1. Just needed 34 seconds for
this one. I had a poor view of the punch by Wiuff, but it looked like an early
stoppage. But I was happy it ended early, since it was getting late and I'm
sure time was running on E.
Tim Sylvia def. Mariusz Pudzianowski via submission, RD2. Then THE FREAK SHOW.
Sylvia got a better reaction then I thought, considering the demographics in
attendance. The crowd was having a blast with dueling USA/POLSKA chants. Pudz's
entrance was certainly a site to see live. One takedown by Pudz and that's ALL
HE HAD in the tank. Quite sad, considering Tim looked defeated via walking to
the cage before the fight even begun. Maybe he shit himself after seeing all
the Polish that came to this event? A very anti-climatic ending.
Overall, thumps up show. I had fun. It wasn't the greatest show, but it's
certainly wasn't the worst. I had a better event experience here than I did @
Bellator. Bellator was lucky if they had 1,000 people 2 weeks ago. And the
crowd there was very reserved and awkward. MOOSIN very well may have had 6,000
or more, but I'm not sure if that was all paid. Too bad Pudz just gave up, but
realistically he never had a chance. If he did, a return here could've been
huge.
