Round One: Tim Sylvia, From UFC Champion To Freak Show Fighter
At one point in MMA’s glorious past, Tim Sylvia was a two time UFC Heavyweight Champion, defeating both Ricco Rodriquez and Andrei Arlovski to win the respective championships. Presently, Tim Sylvia looks like a way overweight version of his former self, who has now been regulated to fighting in freak show bouts on MMA shows. It all started in 2009, when Tim Sylvia was destroyed in under a minute by boxing great Ray Mercer at Adrenaline MMA III. This past Friday Night, Tim Sylvia returned to form as a freak show fighter when he faced Mariusz Pudzianowski in the main event of Moosin: God Of Martial Arts. Unlike his past battle with Ray Mercer, Tim Sylvia ended up on the victorious side of this fight when he forced Mariusz Pudzianowski to tap out to strikes in the second round. Following his victory, Tim Sylvia declared that “I’m Back†and for MMA fans everywhere, lets hope that statement is true.
Next Round For Tim Sylvia: Eric “Butterbean†Esch if he wants to remain a freak show fighter, although a run in Strikeforce could be interesting.
Next Round For Mariusz Pudzianowski: A return to Poland for more strongman competitions.
Round Two: Last Second Replacement, Few Second Fighter
Josh Barnes got an opportunity that very few MMA fighters will get an opportunity to do in their career, be in the semi-main event of an MMA pay-per-view. However, while a dream was realized, a nightmare stood across from the cage in longtime MMA veteran Travis Wiuff. In just under thirty five seconds, Travis Wiuff destroyed Josh Barnes with a series of strikes that left the competitor down and out as Travis Wiuff got his hand raised. Although you must give Josh Barnes credit for stepping up to fight Travis Wiuff, in hindsight, Josh Barnes was set up to get destroyed by a much more experienced MMA veteran.
Next Round For Travis Wiuff: Continuing his Jeremy Horn-like role as MMA gatekeeper.
Next Round For Josh Barnes: More gym time and cage time at small time MMA events.
Round Three: From UFC Ultimate Fighter 4 Champion To “What The Heck Happened?â€
At the UFC Ultimate Fighter 4 Finale a few years back, Travis Lutter forced Patrick Cote to tap out in the middleweight finals. Following that victory, Travis Lutter would fail to make weight for his UFC Middleweight Title opportunity against Anderson Silva, which would begin the fighters train wreck career in the MMA universe. Travis Lutter then resurfaces at Moosin: God Of Martial Arts, as a heavy favorite to defeat Rafael Natal in a middleweight battle. However, even being considered the favorite couldn’t help Travis Lutter, as Rafael Natal put him down with strikes in the fights opening round. While Rafael Natal’s MMA career will certainly skyrocket after this victory, one must assume it will be the opposite way for Travis Lutter.
Next Round For Travis Lutter: A run in the Maximum Fighting Championships may suit the fighter.
Next Round For Rafael Natal: After defeating Travis Lutter, the UFC, Strikeforce or Bellator Fighting Championships could be in his future.
Round Four: The Women Steal The Show
Every single time two women do battle at a Strikeforce event, color commentator Mauro Ronallo usually states that “the women have stolen the show.†That statement could be transferred over to Moosin: God Of Martial Arts for a night, because Tara LaRosa and Roxi Modafferi put on an excellent fight on Friday Night. For fifteen complete minutes, both girls looked like they could finish the other multiple times, which is something the fight judges recognized as well. That is because outside of a judge who gave the fight a 30-27 score, the other two judges gave the fight a 29-28 score, meaning that both of them saw Tara LaRosa as the winner of at least a single round. The future has got to be bright for Roxi Modafferi, who gave Tara LoRosa her first MMA loss in over seven rounds.
Next Round For Roxi Modafferi: Potentially a run in the Bellator Fighting Championships Season 3 Women’s Tournament.
Next Round For Tara LaRosa: Potentially a run in the Bellator Fighting Championships Season 3 Women’s Tournament.
Round Five: Will There Be A Moosin 2?
With the recent failure of Shine Fights pay-per-view debut, you had to think in the back of your head that Moosin could have failed as well. Well, unlike Shine Fights, Moosin got their first pay-per-view off without much of an issue of any kind. Besides an injury to a fighter, who was replaced by Josh Barnes, Moosin: God Of Martial Arts went on the air an ran a spectacular event. As of this writing, there has been no formal announcement of a Moosin 2, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see one in the future.
Next Round For Moosin MMA: Hopefully a Moosin 2 pay-per-view.
