By David Tees on 5/27/2010 8:49 PM
UFC Lightweight Division Fight

Efrain “Hecho En Mexico” Escudero (12-1-0) vs. Dan “The Upgrade” Lauzon (12-3-0)

Efrain Escudero has had a successful run in the UFC, with victories over Phillipe Nover and Cole Miller, while suffering a lone defeat to Evan Dunham. Efrain Escudero got into the UFC after winning the UFC Ultimate Fighter 8, when he defeated Phillipe Nover in the finals. Efrain Escudero is also a veteran of the Rage In The Cage promotion, defeating Chris Collado, Joe Cronin, Mike Smith, Nic Stone, Jose Rodriquez, Peter Newsheller and Eric Regen. Efrain Escudero started off his MMA career in impressive fashion, with a twelve fight undefeated streak that had lasted over three years. Efrain Escudero had also competed in the Cage Supremacy promotion, defeating both TJ Zasa and John Kecks. In the year 2007, Efrain Escudero had competed in seven professional MMA fights, winning all of them. Efrain Escudero will be looking to put the fight on the ground, with nine victories coming by way of submission. Dan Lauzon has had an unsuccessful run in the UFC, suffering defeats to both Spencer Fisher and Cole Miller. Dan Lauzon is also the brother of UFC veteran Joe Lauzon, who are now embroiled in a feud as Dan Lauzon has left the training camp of Joe Lauzon. Dan Lauzon is a veteran of the World Championship Fighting promotion, defeating Wayne Harnois, Frank Latina, Brandon Hoxie and Justin Hammertrum. Dan Lauzon also competed in the final Affliction MMA event, defeating Bobby Green by submission in the opening round. Of his fifteen professional MMA fights, none have gone to a decision for Dan Lauzon, which speaks to the fighters finishing abilities. Dan Lauzon also competed in the Rage In The Cage promotion, defeating both Jason Harris and Leonard Wilson. Despite having two fights in the UFC, both fights were a little over three years apart, with his first fight occurring at UFC 64 and his second at UFC 108. Dan Lauzon is a fighter who is comfortable wherever the fight ends up, with all of his victories coming by knockout and submission.

My Prediction: Efrain Escudero

UFC Welterweight Division Fight

Amir Sadollah (3-1-0) vs. Dong Hyun “Stun Gun” Kim (12-0-1)

Amir Sadollah has had a successful run in the UFC, defeating CB Dollaway, Phil Baroni and Brad Blackburn, while suffering a lone defeat to Johny Hendricks. Amir Sadollah got into the UFC after winning the UFC Ultimate Fighter 7, when he defeated CB Dollaway in the finals. Amir Sadollah had taken a year long layoff after winning the UFC Ultimate Fighter 7, to deal with various injuries. In an interesting career note for Amir Sadollah, all four of his professional MMA fights have ended either in the first or third round, with none ending in the second round. Amir Sadollah is one of a very small group of fighters who has fought all of his professional MMA fights in the UFC. Amir Sadollah will be looking to put the fight on the ground, with a lone MMA victory coming by way of submission. Dong Hyun Kim is currently undefeated in UFC competition, defeating Jason Tan, Matt Brown and TJ Grant. Dong Hyun Kim is a longtime veteran of the DEEP promotion, defeating Mitsunori Tanimura, Tomoyoshi Iwamiya, Kosei Kubota, Jun Ando, Hidenobu Koike, Yukiharu Maejima and Hidehiko Hasegawa. Prior to competing against Jason Tan at UFC 84, Dong Hyun Kim had never had an MMA fight in North America. It has been nearly a year since Dong Hyun Kim last had an MMA fight, so cage rust can become a factor in the fight. Dong Hyun Kim will be entering the fight riding a twelve fight undefeated streak, which has lasted over six years. Dong Hyun Kim has also competed in the Spirit MC promotion, defeating both Young Ahm Noh and Hyung Kwang Kim. Dony Hyun Kim will be looking to use his striking skills to win the fight, with six victories coming by knockout.

My Prediction: Dong Hyun Kim
