By David Tees on 6/9/2010 5:51 PM
UFC Welterweight Division Fight

Mike “Quicksand” Pyle (18-7-1) vs. Jesse “The Ox” Lennox (11-2-0)

Mike Pyle has had an unsuccessful run in the UFC, defeating Chris Wilson, while suffering defeats to Brock Larson and Jake Ellenberger. Mike Pyle also spent some time in the International Fight League, defeating John Cole, while suffering defeats to Rory Markham and Matt Horwich. Mike Pyle made his professional MMA debut in auspicious fashion, facing former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Quinton Jackson. Mike Pyle also fought in the debut Affliction MMA event, defeating JJ Ambrose by way of submission in the first round. Mike Pyle will be looking to put the fight on the ground, with sixteen victories coming by way of submission. Jesse Lennox has had an interesting run in the UFC, defeating Danillo Villefort and suffering a defeat to Rick Story. Jesse Lennox entered the UFC after a short run in World Extreme Cagefighting, defeating Blas Avena by knockout. Jesse Lennox also went undefeated in the Mainstream MMA promotion, defeating Andy Sanders, Mike Hueser, Darin Brudigan and Ryan Thomas. Jesse Lennox started off his professional MMA career in impressive fashion, with a seven fight undefeated streak that had lasted over two years. Jesse Lennox is a fighter who is comfortable wherever the fight ends up, with all of his victories coming by knockout and submission.

My Prediction: Mike Pyle

UFC Welterweight Division Fight

Ricardo “Golden Boy” Funch (7-1-0) vs. Claude Patrick (11-1-0)

Ricardo Funch is currently winless in UFC competition, suffering a defeat to Johny Hendricks by unanimous decision at UFC 107. Ricardo Funch is undefeated in the World Fighting League, defeating Calvin Bates, Justin Gould, Chandler Holderness and Woody Weatherby. Ricardo Funch started off his MMA career in impressive fashion, with a seven fight undefeated streak that had lasted nearly two years. Ricardo Funch has yet to compete in 2010, with his last MMA fight coming against Johny Hendricks in December 2009. Ricardo Funch will be looking to use his striking skills to win the fight, with four victories coming by knockout. Claude Patrick will be making his UFC debut in this fight, but he is a veteran of the King Of The Cage promotion. While in King Of The Cage, Claude Patrick defeated both Chris Peak and Neil Berry, both by submission. Claude Patrick has already fought a UFC veteran in Drew McFedries before entering the UFC, the fight occurred at a TKO Major League MMA event. Claude Patrick will be entering the fight riding a ten fight undefeated streak that has lasted over five years. Claude Patrick will be looking to put the fight on the ground, with eight victories coming by way of submission.

My Prediction: Claude Patrick

UFC Welterweight Division Fight

James “Lightning” Wilks (6-3-0) vs. Peter Sobotta (8-2-0)

James Wilks has had an interesting run in the UFC, defeating DaMarques Johnson and suffering a defeat to Matt Brown. James Wilks entered the UFC after winning the UFC Ultimate Fighter 9, defeating DaMarques Johnson in the finals. James Wilks also competed in the King Of The Cage promotion, defeating Ray Lizama and suffering a defeat to Jimmy Smith. It has been nearly seven months since James Wilks last had an MMA fight, so cage rust can become a factor in the fight. James Wilks will be looking to put the fight on the ground, with four victories coming by way of submission. Peter Sobotta is currently winless in UFC competition, suffering a defeat to Paul Taylor at UFC 99 by unanimous decision. Peter Sobotta also competed in the Free Fight Championship promotion, defeating Peter Micuch and Hendrick Nitzsche, while suffering a defeat to Nelson Siegert. Despite having competed in ten professional MMA fights, this fight will mark Peter Sobotta’s first MMA fight in North America. It has been a year since Peter Sobotta last had an MMA fight, so cage rust can become a factor in the fight. Peter Sobotta is a fighter who is comfortable wherever the fight ends up, with all of his victories coming by knockout and submission.

My Prediction: James Wilks
