Here are my thoughts on the show:
While it makes sense that they will do a Four Way Match at Victory Road, if Hogan can make the decision on his own, why couldn’t he have put his choice for the number one contender in the match against Rob Van Dam?
I thought it was good to have Abyss interrupt Hogan since Hogan said that they had things to resolve and Hogan. I wonder if Abyss is referring to Tommy Dreamer, Raven, and Stevie Richards are the ‘they’ that Abyss is talking about. Maybe ‘they’ is Matt Morgan and the voices in his head.
I thought it was funny that Hulk Hogan was surprised that Abyss was going to disagree with him and possible turn on him since it was never done before.
Since he is going to be wrestling Abyss at the pay per view, it made sense that Rob Van Dam would come to the ring to help Hulk Hogan.
I guess Abyss did not need the Hall of Fame ring to be immune from the pain associated with a chair shot since he did not budge after three. At least Anderson was smart enough to get out of the ring instead of trying to continue to work over a man who was not going to go down.
Eric Bischoff was shocked that Abyss would turn like that? I guess he didn’t watch any TNA programming before he joined the company.
It looks like they are building to the break up of Madison and Velvet with Madison letting the title get to her head and cause Velvet to reconsider the monster that she created.
I thought the match between Velvet Sky and Angelina Love started off good but once the chair got involved in the match, it started to lag and decrease in quality. Since they had issues in the past, it made sense that they were not going for pinfalls and wanted to send a message to the other.
The Lethal Locker Room situation was okay and was a signal to anyone who wasn’t thinking ‘this is going to impact on Jay later in the show’.
I liked that they had Taz mention that Hernandez was down in Mexico seconds before Morgan called him out during the show. It was interesting to hear Morgan blame Hernandez for everything that Morgan has been doing.
With Homicide getting involved in the attack on Morgan in Hernandez’s absence, does this mean that we might have an LAX Reunion, assuming Homicide is not going to miss a lot of time due to the Carbon Footprint against the ring post.
With the way that A.J. Styles has been treated by Ric Flair, I hope we will see A.J. stand up to Flair and maybe turn face.
I thought the Lethal/Kazarian match was good. I thought it was a good television match that made you want to see them get more time on pay per view. I was a bit surprised that Kazarian tried for the low blow during the match in front of the referee (though I wonder if the referee would have noticed it). It is good to see Jay Lethal wrestle as himself instead of trying to be someone else. Kazarian has been in some good matches since his return and the association with Flair is helping him.
I did not like it when they focused on the attack by Styles and Flair on Lethal’s brother instead of the match, but at least the attack did not get shown on the screen to distract Lethal during the match. I don’t know why they went to commercial as soon as Lethal went to the back. It would have been nice to see Lethal find his brother or try to confront Styles and Flair for what they did to his brother.
Did Jarrett think that it might not have been the real Sting when Sting threw punches left handed?
I wonder if the Un-Sting would turn on the real Sting.
I would assume that the Sting/Jarrett situation in the ring is going to set up another match between the two men.
With Bound for Glory in Daytona Beach, I wonder if they are going to recreate any situations that took place in the Ocean Center in Daytona Beach in the past.
I liked that they had a video package of the feud between Kurt Angle and Desmond Wolfe because it was such a great thing in 2009.
I thought the Desmond Wolfe/Kurt Angle match was a very good television match and might have been Desmond’s best match since his last Kurt Angle match. Wolfe did a lot to start to rehabilitate his character with a long television match against a top wrestler. Wolfe and Angle told a great story during the match and we saw Wolfe trying to counter as much of Angle’s offense as possible until Angle grapevined the leg in the ankle lock.
I thought Douglas Williams’ comments were great. He is one of the best things in the company and while he tries to belittle the X Division while starting to use moves like tornado DDTs to win matches. I thought Brian Kendrick gave his best promo since returning to TNA.
It is also a good touch to have Kendrick being the one who is using submission moves against Williams while Williams is turning into the type of wrestler that he hates. However, the way that they are doing the angle, it makes Kendrick come off as the heel and Williams as the face.
With Abyss talking about ‘they’, I hope they do not drag this out too long so ‘they’ do not lose their impact upon their arrival.
While Abyss was cutting his promo in the back by the scaffolding, I was imaging Abyss talking about not seeing the sailboat at the mall, allowing Silent Bob to get the video tape.
I wonder if they are teasing a split of Team 3D or will it just be a way to make them a stronger unit.
I thought the Beer Money/Ink Inc match was okay but I was surprised at how much offense Shannon Moore got in when it was two-on-one. I also thought that Jesse Neal got in too much offense after being attacked in the back and struggling to get to the ring.
I think we have the best possible match for the tag titles and it should be a good match at Victory Road.
When Styles and Kazarian were in the locker room talking about the action figure, I was hoping that Frankie had pulled out the Suicide action figure and say that he had one too and then have A.J. accusing him of picking a wrestler whose face we never saw so how would we know if it was him.
I thought the match with Anderson and Abyss was okay. Like the Angelina/Velvet match, it started off solid but lost some steam in the middle. I liked that Anderson ran to the ring since he was going to get revenge for what Abyss did to him last week. I thought Anderson took too much on his back since he talked about everything that Abyss did to him last week with the glass.
I was a bit surprised that Anderson would try for a Mic Check off the stage since he would be going off the stage as well especially when you consider the damage to his back from last week, according to what Anderson said.
Since they are rebuilding Abyss as a monster, I liked the way that he did not sell the chair shot to the back by Hulk Hogan. I wonder if Hogan and Abyss are bound for glory.
What to watch on DVR: The Desmond Wolfe/Kurt Angle match; Abyss/Ken Anderson match; Douglas Williams/Brian Kendrick segment; Velvet Sky/Madison Rayne interaction.
