Here are the quick results from the show:

Jerome Hendrix defeated Christopher Gray
Saint defeated Rod Steel
Jerome Hendrix defeated Ricky Romeo
Michael Patrick and Van Daniels defeated Buck Quartermaine and Steve Madison
Big Vito defeated Bruce Santee by disqualification
Big Vito, Buck Quartermaine, and Steve Madison defeated Bruce Santee, Michael Patrick, and Van Daniels

Here is a more detailed recap of the show:

Match Number One: Jerome Hendrix defeated Christopher Gray

The crowd was definitely behind Hendrix throughout the match with the crowd critical of Gray being from England. After each man tries to take control of the match, Hendrix is able hit a combination ending with a drop kick and Gray goes to the floor to regroup. Once Gray returns to the ring, Hendrix gets a few near falls. Gray uses some nefarious means to gain the advantage in the match and the crowd is not impressed with Gray’s actions. Gray puts Hendrix in a sleeper and it looks like Hendrix is going to lose consciousness but he recovers before the referee drops his arm to the mat for the third time. Gray looks like he has things under control but Hendrix gets the three count after a cross body press.

Match Number Two: Saint defeated Rod Steel

Steel is hesitant to lock up with Saint at the start of the match. Saint offers his hand to Steel but Steel does not shake his hand. Steel then offers his hand to Saint but Steel slaps Saint. Saint lets Steel hit him again and Steel does not waste the opportunity. Steel wants a test of strength with Saint, but when he sees Saint pose in front of him, Steel is hesitant to do it. Steel gets the advantage but it is short lived with Saint taking control and forcing Steel to the floor. Saint gets a few near falls so Steel decides to slow things down by pulling the referee in front of him when Saint tries for a splash in the corner. Steel can only get a near fall after a low blow. Steel yells at the referee for a slow count and Saint gets the three count with a rollup.

Gene Beard comes to the ring with Van Daniels and Michael Patrick. Gene tells everyone to shut up and listen to him. He says that he has done a lot for Patrick and Daniels since he started managing them and they are in the semi-main event tonight. Gene tells them that he has an insurance policy for them for tonight. He brings out Bruce Santee.

Santee gets on the mic and he says that he is not really an insurance policy, he is more of a guarantee. He says that Michael and ‘the other guy’ are going to win tonight. Bruce mentions his match with Vito and points out that Vito sometimes wears a dress when he wrestles, but he will beat Vito tonight.

Ricky Romeo comes out and he gets on the mic. He says that a travesty took place earlier tonight when his good friend Chris Gray lost to Jerome Hendrix with a cross body. He points out that he has no one to wrestle tonight so he makes an open challenge to Jerome Hendrix. Romeo mentions that he has never lost a match to a cross body.

Jerome Hendrix comes out and Romeo says that he was kidding about wrestling Hendrix tonight. Hendrix says that he was not kidding and if Romeo wants a match, he can have it.

Match Number Three: Jerome Hendrix defeated Ricky Romeo

Romeo threatens to leave the building instead of wrestling Hendrix, but he returns to the ring and wants the referee to check Hendrix. The fans get under Romeo’s skin for chanting “USA”. When they lock up, Romeo slaps his hand while the referee is out of position and Romeo convinces the referee that Hendrix hit him. He does it a second time, but on Romeo’s third attempt, the referee sees what Romeo was doing. Romeo is able to maintain control of the match with a rake of the back and then he puts Hendrix in the ropes. Romeo misses a splash into the ropes and that allows Hendrix to take control but it was short lived because Romeo hit a spinebuster. Hendrix hits a cross body for the three count.

Match Number Four: Michael Patrick and Van Daniels with Gene Beard defeated Steve Madison and Buck Quartermaine

Patrick starts off and tells the referee that Madison pulled his hair and the referee admonishes Madison. Madison and Quartermaine work on Patrick until Patrick rakes the eyes. Daniels tags in and he is taken down by Madison as well. The advantage goes back and forth between the teams until Buck and Steve get the advantage back. Madison with a rollup but Patrick throws Madison over the top rope to the floor while the referee deals with Quartermaine on the apron. Madison tries to piledrive Daniels on the floor but Daniels escapes with a back body drop. Buck tries to give Madison encouragement from the apron as Steve tries to fight off Daniels and Patrick. Patrick misses a splash and Madison is able to make the tag to Buck and he hits his patented elbow drop combination. All four men get in the ring and Buck hits Angel’s Wings on Patrick while Madison and Daniels fight on the floor. Buck goes up top but Bruce Santee comes out and he crotches Buck, allowing Patrick to get the three count with some potential help from the ropes.

After the match, Steve Madison gets on the mic and he tells Vito that they have his back if something should happen during Vito’s match with Bruce Santee later in the show.

Match Number Five: Big Vito defeated Bruce Santee by disqualification

Santee is not happy to see Vito come out to the ring in a dress. While Santee pleads his case to the crowd, who were not very receptive to him, Vito comes up from behind and gooses him. As a result, Santee asked a few cops in the building to arrest Vito for assault.

The match starts and Santee takes advantage of Vito playing to the crowd as he attacks Vito from behind. Vito takes control of things and whenever Santee is about to regain control of the match, he hesitates going after Vito because of Vito’s dress. Santee puts Vito in a sleeper and then Vito escapes with a stunner. Vito gets a near fall after a series of moves including a Thesz Press with the dress going over Bruce’s head. Michael Patrick and Van Daniels come out and attack Vito so the referee calls for the bell.

After the match, Daniels and Patrick attack Vito with Santee joining in. Madison and Quartermaine come out and they make the save for Vito.

Madison gets on the mic and asks for a six man tag match to settle things.

Match Number Six: Buck Quartermaine, Steve Madison, and Big Vito defeated Bruce Santee, Michael Patrick, and Van Daniels

Buck starts off with Santee and he gets the early advantage in the match. Madison come in and he gets a near fall as they continue to maintain control while tagging Buck back into the match. Vito continues to control the match and they hit a number of double team moves to stay in control. Madison clotheslines Patrick over the top rope to the floor. Everyone gets into the ring and start brawling. Buck hits Angel’s Wings on Patrick and he goes up top and hits a leg drop for the three count.

After the match, Vito and Buck dance in the ring and they want Madison to join in. After refusing, he eventually joins in the celebration.

Summer Collision Thoughts

I thought this was an entertaining show and was different than many of the shows that I attend. This was a very child friendly show, since it was done to raise money for a local youth team.

With a lot of children in the crowd for this show, the wrestlers did a good job of playing to the crowd and the crowd was into the entire show. While I thought all of the wrestlers did a good job dealing with the crowd, I thought that Ricky Romeo and Bruce Santee did a good job playing off the crowd.

While I was surprised at the length of the show (which was about 90 minutes long), the short length may have helped to keep the crowd involved for the whole show. I also think that six matches was enough for this show.

There were a few changes to the card from what was advertised, and as a result, saw some wrestlers have multiple matches.

I think the way the show was booked with the progression of matches also worked. There were a few promos throughout the show to provide for some pacing and give the crowd a bit of a rest. They also built to the main event well.

It has been a while since I saw Rod Steel wrestle and I was impressed with his match against Saint. Steel is someone who interacts great with the crowd and while he is sometimes better suited for an adult crowd, he played off the younger fans equally well. Rod has lost some weight from the last time that I saw him, but he did not seem to have to change much of his work due to the lower weight.

I thought Gene Beard cut a good promo to set up the tag match later in the night and he interacted well with Bruce Santee during their segment.

I thought Ricky Romeo’s promo was good and as soon as he talked about how he has never lost to a cross body press, you had a feeling that was going to be the finish of the match.

Ricky Romeo is also someone who has taken some time off from the ring and is getting back into action. He is another wrestler who is able to get the crowd into his matches. I thought his match with Jerome Hendrix was the most entertaining match of the night because of the way that he worked with the crowd.

After Bruce Santee interfered in the tag match involving Steve Madison and Buck Quartermaine, when Madison cut his promo about having Vito’s back, you had a feeling that they were going to get involved and lead to something bigger at the end of the show.

I thought Bruce Santee’s reactions to having to wrestle Vito in the dress were great. He added a lot to a good match by showing anger at having to wrestle a man in a dress and then when he was trying to work over Vito, he didn’t want to have to look at what was under Vito’s dress.

I liked the way that the Santee/Vito match built into the six man tag main event. I thought it was a decent match and was a good way to get the crowd to go home happy because Madison, Quartermaine, and Vito got the win.

If you are looking for a fun night of family entertainment, this was a good show and I would recommend attending one of their shows throughout Florida.
