By David Tees on 8/12/2010 5:46 PM
PWP Middleweight Division Fight

Gustavo “Ximu” Machado (18-8-1) vs. Rick “The Holy Terror” Reeves (8-3-0)

Gustavo Machado is a well traveled MMA veteran that has fought top MMA names like Damian Maia, Brad Blackburn, Mike Pyle, Thales Leitas, Allan Goes, Benji Radach, Nate Quarry and Ricardo Arona. Gustavo Muchado is a veteran of the Rings promotion, where he defeated Wataru Sakata, Kiyoshi Tamura and Chris Hasmen, while suffering a lone defeat to Ricardo Arona. Gustavo Machado started off his MMA career in impressive fashion, with a four fight undefeated streak that lasted nearly a year. Gustavo Machado also fought once in the International Fight League, suffering a defeat to Brad Blackburn. Gustavo Machado will be looking to use his striking skills to get the win, with four victories coming by knockout. Rick Reeves is a veteran of the International Fight League, where he defeated both Luke Johnson and Chris Kennedy. It has been well over a year since Rick Reeves last competed in a professional MMA fight, so cage rust can be a factor in the fight. Rick Reeves is also a veteran of the Ken Shamrock Productions promotion, defeating Josh Snodgrass, Sam Zamarron and Nathan James, while suffering a defeat to Rigo Oropeza. Rick Reeves will be entering the fight riding a two fight winning streak, which has lasted over two years. Rick Reeves will be looking to put the fight on the ground, with seven victories coming by way of submission.

My Prediction: Gustavo Machado

PWP Lightweight Division Fight

Jens “Little Evil” Pulver (22-13-1) vs. Diego “Dos Pistolas” Garijo (4-1-0)

Jens Pulver is a former UFC Lightweight Champion, who defeated BJ Penn at UFC 35 to become the first ever UFC Lightweight Champion. During his time in the UFC, Jens Pulver defeated Joao Rogue, John Lewis, Caol Uno, Dennis Hallman and BJ Penn, while suffering defeats to BJ Penn and Joe Lauzon. Jens Pulver will be entering the fight trying to end a five fight losing streak, which has lasted over two years. Jens Pulver also competed in the WEC, defeating Cub Swanson, while suffering defeats to Urijah Faber, Leonard Garcia, Josh Grispi and Javier Vasquez. Jens Pulver will be looking to use his striking skills to win the fight, with thirteen victories coming by knockout. Diego Garijo is a veteran of the Total Combat promotion, defeating Tom Peralta, Neal Abrams and Eric Uresk, while suffering a lone defeat to Jesse Newell. It has been well over a year since Diego Garijo last competed in a professional MMA fight, so cage rust can become a factor in the fight. Diego Garijo also fought once in the Bellator Fighting Championships, defeating Saad Awad by submission. Diego Garijo started off his MMA career in impressive fashion, with a three fight undefeated streak that had lasted nearly a year. Diego Garijo is a fighter who is comfortable wherever the fight ends up, with all of his victories coming by knockout and submission.

My Prediction: Jens Pulver

Allan Goes is a veteran of the PRIDE promotion, defeating Carl Ognibene and Vernon White, while suffering defeats to Mark Coleman and Alex Stiebling. It has been over three years since Allan Goes last competed in a professional MMA fight, so cage rust can become a factor in the fight.
