By David Tees on 8/17/2010 11:30 AM
WEC Lightweight Division Fight

Bart “Bartimus” Palaszewski (34-13-0) vs. Zack Makeweight (7-0-0)

Bart Palaszewski has had a successful run in the WEC, defeating Alex Karalexis, Alex Pettis and Karen Darabedyan, while suffering defeats to Ricardo Lamas and Anthony Njokuani. Bart Palaszewski is a longtime veteran of the International Fight League, where he defeated John Shackleford, Steve Bruno, Marcio Feitosa, Ivan Menjivar, Ryan Schultz, John Gunderson, John Strawn and Harris Sarmiento, while suffering defeats to Chris Horodecki, Deividas Taurosevicius and Jim Miller. Bart Palaszewski had a terrible start to his professional MMA career, losing his first four pro MMA fights. Bart Palaszewski will be entering the fight riding a three fight winning streak, which has lasted over ten months. Bart Palaszewski also competed in the first ever Adrenaline MMA event, defeating Jeff Cox by TKO in the second round. Bart Palaszewski will be looking to use his striking skills to win the fight, with fifteen victories coming by knockout. Zack Micklewright is currently undefeated in WEC competition, with a victory over Mushin Corbbrey at WEC 45. Zack Micklewright is a veteran of the Glory Fighting Championships, defeating Allen Hernandez, Luke Drilling and Jaxson Mason. It has been nearly eight months since Zack Micklewright last competed in an MMA fight, so cage rust can become a factor in the fight. Zack Micklewright also fought in the Midwest King Of The Ring promotion, defeating the duo of Mark Kasdorf and John Steinbron. Zack Micklewright will be entering the fight riding a seven fight undefeated streak, which has lasted nearly four years. In an interesting career note for Zack Micklewright, all of his professional MMA fight ended in either the first or third round, with none ending in the second round. Zack Micklewright will be looking to use his striking skills to win the fight, with two victories coming by knockout.

My Prediction: Bart Palaszewski

Chad Mendes will be entering the fight riding a seven fight undefeated streak, which has lasted just under two years. Chad Mendes also fought in the Tachi Palace Fights promotion, defeating the duo of Steven Siler and Mike Joy. Shane Roller will be looking to put the fight on the ground, with five victories coming by way of submission.

My Prediction: Anthony Pettis

WEC Bantamweight Title Fight

Dominick Cruz is the current WEC Bantamweight Champion, as he defeated Brian Bowles at WEC 47 to win the championship. Dominick Cruz has had a successful run in the WEC, defeating Charlie Valencia, Ian McCall, Ivan Lopez, Joseph Benavidez and Brian Bowles, while suffering a lone defeat to Urijah Faber.
