THE WRINGER REVIEW RIPS RAW (AND MICHAEL COLE) A NEW ONE

By Michael LeBlanc on 8/17/2010 1:55 PM

While I did not see the SummerSlam pay-per-view, I read the site’s coverage.  Why did Team WWE come out on top, when clearly the Nexus should have?  Perhaps we will find out tonight.

Let’s get Wringing!

*     *     *

Since when do the losers decide the consequences of anything?

They really went to the Jennifer Hudson reference?

How come every time I hear Heath Slater’s name, all I ever think about is the candy bar?

Where was this crowd last night?

So the guys from Going the Distance were there just to intro the Hart Dynasty?

Umm, haven’t the Lakers won way more than two Championships?!

Was Bret picking his teeth, or trying a mocking “I’m scared” gesture as they went to commercial?

Gee, I’m not sure, but I bet many pro athletes don’t eat meat!  How many actual movie/television stars don’t watch their own work (quite a few I’d bet)?  Why is owning a television so important to Cole?

You mean main-eventing SummerSlam, the second biggest show of the year doesn’t count for much with Cole?

And someone tell Cole that the Staples Center is in Los Angeles , and not Hollywood !

Did they really have to bleep an F-bomb during the Bret Hart e-mail?

What the hell was up with that up-and-down camera shot that followed the chair in Randy’s hands, instead of keeping the shot level?  Is the guy new at this, or something?

So, the Nexus can beat Team WWE separately (with and without interference), but not as a whole?

Two count-out matches…really?

Did Cena really have to be the only guy to win his match against the Nexus?

And how many saw the beat down of Darren Young coming a mile away?

Did anyone else get a Trace Adkins commercial in the last half hour?

FINAL THOUGHTS:

The concept of tonight’s show could have been really good if they had booked it better.  Instead of clean finishes, we get various forms of interference, count-outs, and the like.  You may say, we got our clean finish Sunday at the pay-per-view, but even though the Nexus won all but one of the matches tonight, did they really come out stronger?  And we had another in a line of useless guest hosts (although the segment with Khali was kind of funny).  The Anonymous GM gimmick continues to get groans and such (why does Cole always announce what we already know by the tone and lights?!).  All in all, not a great effort tonight.
