Joe “J-Lau†Lauzon (18-5-0) vs. Gabe “Godzilla†Ruediger (17-5-0)
Joe Lauzon has had a successful run in the UFC, defeating Jens Pulver, Brandon Melendez, Jason Reinhart, Kyle Bradley and Jeremy Stephens, while suffering defeats to Kenny Florian and Sam Stout. Joe Lauzon was also a contestant on the UFC Ultimate Fighter 5, which was won by Nate Diaz, brother of Strikeforce Welterweight Champion Nick Diaz. Joe Lauzon is the brother of UFC veteran Dan Lauzon, who is currently winless in his three previous UFC encounters. Joe Lauzon started off his MMA career in impressive fashion, with an eight fight undefeated streak that had lasted over a year. Along with the Nogueira Brothers, the Miller Brothers, and other brothers in MMA, Joe Lauzon and his brother Dan Lauzon are another brother combination in the promotion. Joe Lauzon will be looking to put the fight on the ground, with fourteen victories coming by way of submission. Gabe Ruediger is currently winless in UFC competition, having suffered a defeat to Melvin Guillard at UFC 63. Gabe Ruediger has had a near four year break in between UFC fights, with his last UFC appearance at UFC 63 in September 2006. Gabe Ruediger also competed in the World Extreme Cagefighting promotion, defeating Carlos Cordero, Steve Ramirez, Olaf Alfonso, Jason Maxwell and Sam Wells, while suffering defeats to Sam Wells and Hermes Franca. It has been a little over a month since Gabe Ruediger last competed in an MMA fight, so conditioning could play a factor in the fight. Gabe Ruediger most recently competed in the Tachi Palace Fights promotion, defeating both Dominique Robinson and Lenny Lovato. Gabe Ruediger will be looking to put the fight on the ground, with twelve victories coming by way of submission.
