Backstage interview with Shine Fight CEO Jason Chambers, who talks about putting the tournament together and using a ring instead of a cage.

Fight #1 - Shine Fights Lightweight Grand Prix Opening Round Fight

Drew Fickett (38-14-0) vs. Charles Bennett (23-17-2)

Referee: Shane Garrett

Round One

The round begins with Drew Fickett scoring a takedown on Charles Bennett, Charles Bennett quickly gets the fight back to the feet. Charles Bennett then catches Drew Fickett with a right to the face, Drew Fickett scores another takedown on Charles Bennett during a leg kick attempt. Charles Bennett uses a sweep on Drew Fickett and gets in his guard, Drew Fickett attempts an arm bar on Charles Bennett and gets power bombed on his head for his effort. Charles Bennett is back in the guard of Drew Fickett, the fighters go back to their feet and Drew Fickett locks in a jumping guillotine choke on Charles Bennett and a tap out follows.

Fight Result: Drew Fickett def. Charles Bennett by submission via guillotine choke (3:34, R1)

Post fight interview with Drew Fickett, who says Charles Bennett is a scrappy fighter and he feels good to compete in round two.

Fight #2 - Shine Fights Lightweight Grand Prix Opening Round Fight

Shannon Gugerty (12-5-0) vs. Dennis Bermudez (6-0-0)

Referee: Shane Garrett

Round One

The round begins with Dennis Bermudez hitting Shannon Gugerty with short knee strikes, Shannon Gugerty nails Dennis Bermudez with a knee strike of his own. Dennis Bermudez then hits Shannon Gugerty with a leg kick, Shannon Gugerty almost puts Dennis Bermudez through the ropes while hitting two straight punches. Shannon Gugerty follows it up by hitting Dennis Bermudez with an uppercut, both fighters exchange knee strikes while in the clinch. Both fighters then fall out of the ring and onto the announce table as the round ended.

Round Two

The round begins with Dennis Bermudez hitting Shannon Gugerty with a right, both fighters exchange knee strikes while in the clinch. Dennis Bermudez barely connects with an overhand right on Shannon Gugerty, Dennis Bermudez then hits Shannon Gugerty with a superman punch, Dennis Bermudez scores a takedown on Shannon Gugerty and gets half guard. Dennis Bermudez then traps the arm of Shannon Gugerty to pelt him with some lefts, the fighters go back to their feet and Dennis Bermudez slams Shannon Gugerty during a guillotine choke attempt. Dennis Bermudez then gets back control on Shannon Gugerty, Shannon Gugerty escapes and the fight goes back to the feet as the round ends.

Fight Result: Dennis Bermudez def. Shannon Gugerty by unanimous decision (No Scores Announced)

Post fight interview with Dennis Bermudez, who says he can use his style to survive the final two rounds and the fall out of the ring was hard.

Interview with WEC Lightweight Champion Ben Henderson, who praises the tournament format and he hopes his fighter can be an alternate in a fight tonight.

Fight #3 - Shine Fights Lightweight Grand Prix Opening Round Fight

Kyle Baker (8-4-0) vs. James Warfield (21-6-0)

Round One

The round begins with James Warfield hitting Kyle Baker with a body kick, James Warfield accidentally hits Kyle Baker with a low blow and the fight is halted. The fight resumes with Kyle Baker hitting James Warfield with a body kick, Kyle Baker follows it up by hitting James Warfield with a few leg kicks. James Warfield then catches Kyle Baker with a left and then an uppercut, Kyle Baker then attacks James Warfield with knee strikes while in the clinch. Kyle Baker follows it up by attacking James Warfield with a few punches to the body, James Warfield then accidentally hits Kyle Baker with a second low blow and the fight is halted. The fight resumes with James Warfield attempting two flying kicks on Kyle Baker, James Warfield then rocks Kyle Baker with three straight rights. James Warfield scores a takedown on Kyle Baker and the ref stops the fight so the doctor can check Kyle Bakers cut, the fight resumes with James Warfield hitting Kyle Baker with leg kicks. Kyle Baker recovers to hit James Warfield with a few uppercuts, James Warfield locks in a guillotine choke on Kyle Baker as the round ends.

Round Two

The round begins with Kyle Baker swinging wildly at James Warfield, James Warfield then connects with a right on Kyle Baker. James Warfield then attempts a flying knee strike on Kyle Baker and falls over the top rope and onto a table, the fight resumes with both fighters simultaneously hitting body kicks. Kyle Baker then lands a punching combination on James Warfield, James Warfield then pushes Kyle Baker to the mat. Kyle Baker then nails James Warfield with two straight knee strikes, James Warfield charges at Kyle Baker and nails him with a left. Kyle Baker then punches James Warfield through the ropes and then knee strikes him in the butt, Kyle Baker then drops James Warfield with a leg kick. Kyle Baker then gets side control on James Warfield, Kyle Baker moves to full mount and then back control on James Warfield. Kyle baker uses ground and pound on James Warfield as the round ends.

Shine Overtime

The round begins with Kyle Baker hitting James Warfield with a leg kick, James Warfield slips and falls to the ground. Kyle Baker gets side control on James Warfield and lands a few knee strikes, James Warfield gets back up and goes for a takedown and Kyle Baker falls through the ropes. The fight resumes with Kyle Baker landing a knee strike on James Warfield, Kyle Baker then attacks James Warfield with a ton of elbow strikes as the round ends.

Fight Result: Kyle Baker def. James Warfield by split decision (10-9, 9-10, 9-10: OT Scores)

Post fight interview with Kyle Baker, who says the low blows effected his cardio and he capitalized on the lack of ground game from his opponent.

Fight #4 - Shine Fights Lightweight Grand Prix Opening Round Fight

Carlo Prater (24-7-1) vs. Rich Crunkilton (16-3-0)

Round One

The round begins with Rich Crunkilton hitting Carlo Prater with a leg kick, Rich Crunkilton follows it up by hitting Carlo Prater with a body kick. Carlo Prater scores a takedown on Rich Crunkilton and gets side control, Carlo Prater starts attacking Rich Crunkilton with some punches. Carlo Prater is then forced into the full guard by Rich Crunkilton, Rich Crunkilton uses a sweep to get on top of Carlo Prater. The fight goes back to the feet and Rich Crunkilton tries a takedown attempt and both fighters go through the ring ropes, the fight resumes with Carlo Prater hitting Rich Crunkilton with a flying knee strike. Rich Crunkilton scores a takedown on Carlo Prater and gets the open guard, the fighters get back to their feet and Rich Crunkilton drops Carlo Prater with a leg kick as the round ends.

Round Two

The round begins with Rich Crunkilton hitting Carlo Prater with a left, Carlo Prater then hits Rich Crunkilton with a flying leg strike. Rich Crunkilton scores a takedown on Carlo Prater, the fighters go back to their feet and Rich Crunkilton peppers Carlo Prater with jabs. Rich Crunkilton scores a takedown on Carlo Prater and gets side control, Rich Crunkilton allows the fight to go back to the feet. Rich Crunkilton then attacks Carlo Prater with a leg kick, Carlo Prater responds by hitting Rich Crunkilton with a knee strike to the body. Rich Crunkilton responds by nailing Carlo Prater with a punching combination, Rich Crunkilton scores a takedown on Carlo Prater and gets guard. Rich Crunkilton moves to half guard on Carlo Prater, the fighters get back to their feet as the round ends.

Shine Overtime

The round begins with Rich Crunkilton scoring a takedown on Carlo Prater and gets the open guard, the fighters go back to their feet and Rich Crunkilton hits Carlo Prater with a spaghetti kick. Rich Crunkilton then nails an incoming Carlo Prater with a jab, Carlo Prater then hits Rich Crunkilton with a knee strike to the body. Carlo Prater then dazes Rich Crunkilton with a straight right, both fighters fall to the ground as the round ends.

Fight #5 - Shine Fights Lightweight Grand Prix Semi-Final Fight

Drew Fickett (39-14-0) vs. Dennis Bermudez (7-0-0)

The round begins with Dennis Bermudez hitting Drew Fickett with a leg kick, Drew Fickett responds by hitting Dennis Bermudez with a left hook. Dennis Bermudez scores a takedown on Drew Fickett, Drew Fickett quickly uses a sweep and gets on top of Dennis Bermudez. Drew Fickett gets back control on Dennis Bermudez, Drew Fickett locks the rear naked choke on Dennis Bermudez and a tap out follows.

(Note: Both Rich Crunkilton and Kyle Baker were both deemed medically unable to continue, thus Charlie Brown and Carlo Prater will be the replacement fighters.)

Charlie Brown (9-2-0) vs. Carlo Prater (24-8-1)

Round One

The round begins with Charlie Brown hitting Carlo Prater with a leg kick, Carlo Prater responds by hitting Charlie Brown with a leg kick of his own. Charlie Brown then returns the favor by nailing Carlo Prater with a low kick, Carlo Prater accidentally hits Charlie Brown with a low blow and the fight is briefly halter. The fight resumes with Charlie Brown hitting Carlo Prater with a push kick, Carlo Prater then nails Charlie Brown with a leg kick. Charlie Brown then rocks Carlo Prater with a left and a knee strike, Carlo Prater hits Charlie Brown with a leg kick and a takedown as the round ends.

Round Two

The round begins with Charlie Brown attacking Carlo Praters legs with knee strikes, Charlie Brown accidentally hits Carlo Prater with a low blow and the fight is halted. The fight resumes with both fighters exchanging leg kicks, Charlie Brown returns to using knee strikes on Carlo Prater. Carlo Prater scores a takedown on Charlie Brown and gets the guard, Carlo Prater attacks Charlie Brown with ground and pound. Carlo Prater attempts to dive on the back of Charlie Brown and eats two punches for the effort, Carlo Prater scores another takedown on Charlie Brown and gets the guard. Charlie Brown uses a scramble to get on top of Carlo Prater as the round ends.

Main Event - Shine Fights Lightweight Grand Prix Finals

Drew Fickett (40-14-0) vs. Carlo Prater (25-8-1)

The round begins with Drew Fickett quickly scoring a takedown on Carlo Prater and getting guard, Drew Fickett passes to side control on Carlo Prater. Drew Fickett quickly moves to full mount on Carlo Prater, Drew Fickett attacks Carlo Prater with ground and pound. Drew Fickett gets back control on Carlo Prater, Drew Fickett locks in the rear naked choke and a tap out follows.

Fight Result: Drew Fickett def. Carlo Prater by submission via rear naked choke (2:21, R1)

Post fight interview with Drew Fickett, who says it was his plan to choke him out and says he is back now in MMA. Post fight interview with Carlo Prater, who says Drew Fickett is a strong fighter and he trained a long time for the tournament.
