By David Tees on 9/25/2010 12:07 PM
UFC Lightweight Division Fight

Melvin “The Young Assassin” Guillard (25-8-2) vs. Jeremy “Lil’ Heathen” Stephens (17-5-0)

Melvin Guillard has had a successful run in the UFC, defeating Marcus Davis, Rick Davis, Gabe Ruediger, Dennis Siver, Gleison Tibau, Ronys Torres and Waylon Lowe, while suffering defeats to Joe Stevenson, Rich Clementi, Josh Neer and Nate Diaz. Melvin Guillard was a cast member on the UFC Ultimate Fighter 2, which was won by Rashad Evans and Joe Stevenson. In the last five years of Melvin Guillard’s MMA career, he has only fought once outside of the UFC, defeating Eric Regan at a Rage In The Cage event. Melvin Guillard will be entering the fight riding a two fight winning streak, which has lasted over seven months. Melvin Guillard will be looking to use his striking skills to win the fight, with sixteen victories coming by knockout. Jeremy Stephens has had a successful run in the UFC, defeating Diego Saraiva, Cole Miller, Rafael Dos Anjos, Justin Buchholz and Sam Stout, while suffering defeats to Din Thomas, Spencer Fisher, Joe Lauzon and Gleison Tibau. Despite competing in the UFC for over three years, this fight will mark only the second time that Jeremy Stephens has fought live on a UFC pay-per-view. Prior to entering the UFC in mid-2007, Jeremy Stephens had defeated WEC veteran Chris Mickle at a Downtown Destruction event. Jeremy Stephens will be entering the fight riding a two fight winning streak, which has lasted over a year. Jeremy Stephens will be looking to use his striking skills to win the fight, with twelve victories coming by knockout.

My Prediction: Melvin Guillard

UFC Lightweight Division Fight

Evan Dunham (11-0-0) vs. Sean “The Muscle Shark” Sherk (32-4-1)

Evan Dunham is currently undefeated in UFC competition, with victories over Per Eklund, Marcus Aurelio, Efrain Escudero and Tyson Griffin. Evan Dunham also fought once in the Palace Fighting Championships promotion, defeating Dustin Akbari by submission. Despite competing in professional MMA for over three years, the UFC is the first promotion Evan Dunham has fought multiple fights in. Evan Dunham will be entering the fight riding an eleven fight winning streak, which has lasted over three years. Evan Dunham will be looking to put the fight on the ground, with six victories coming by way of submission. Sean Sherk has had a successful run in the UFC, defeating Tiki Ghosn, Jutaro Nakao, Benji Radach, Nick Diaz, Kenny Florian, Hermes Franca and Tyson Griffin, while suffering defeats to Matt Hughes, Georges St. Pierre, BJ Penn and Frankie Edgar. Sean Sherk is a former UFC Lightweight Champion, as he defeated Kenny Florian for the gold at UFC 64. Sean Sherk started off his MMA career in impressive fashion, with a fifteen fight undefeated streak that had lasted over three years. It has been well over a year since Sean Sherk last competed in an MMA fight, so cage rust can become a factor in the fight. Sean Sherk will be looking to put the fight on the ground, with thirteen victories coming by way of submission.

My Prediction: Evan Dunham
