PREVIEWING THE STRIKEFORCE: DIAZ VS. NOONS II PRELIMINARY CARD

By David Tees on 10/7/2010 10:59 PM
Strikeforce Lightweight Division Fight

Jess Bouscal (2-2-0) vs. Luis Mendoza (0-0-0)

Jess Bouscal will be making his Strikeforce debut in this fight, but he has competed in both the Total Combat and Pacific Xtreme Combat promotions. While in Total Combat, Jess Bouscal defeated Leonel Beta and suffered a lone defeat to Mark Beacher. It has been nearly four years since Jess Bouscal last competed in a professional MMA fight, so cage rust can be a factor in the fight. While in the Pacific Xtreme Combat promotion, Jess Bouscal defeated Elijah Young and suffered a defeat to Ryan Biglar. Jess Bouscal will be looking to use his striking skills to win the fight, with all of his MMA victories coming by knockout. Luis Mendoza will not only be making his Strikeforce debut in this fight, but his professional MMA debut as well, so his lack of experience can come into play in this fight.

My Prediction: Jess Bouscal

Strikeforce Welterweight Division Fight

Ron Keslar (5-2-0) vs. Josh McDonald (7-4-0)

Ron Keslar is currently winless in Strikeforce competition, having suffered a defeat to Chris Cope at Strikeforce: Fedor vs. Rogers. Ron Keslar also competed in the International Fighting & Boxing League, defeating Shane Carey and Michael Musslewhite, while suffering a lone defeat to Matt Major. This fight will mark the third fight of 2010 for Ron Keslar, as he is currently one out of two so far this year. Ron Keslar will be looking to end a one fight losing skid, which started at Strikeforce: Fedor vs. Rogers. Ron Keslar will be looking to put the fight on the ground, with three victories coming by way of submission. Josh McDonald will be making his Strikeforce debut in this fight, but he has competed in the Cage Combat Fighting Championships. While in the Cage Combat Fighting Championships, Josh McDonald suffered defeats to Jeremiah Metcalf and James Terry. Josh McDonald also competed in World Extreme Cagefighting, defeating Patrick Murphy by majority decision. Josh McDonald will be entering the fight riding a four fight winning streak, which has lasted over a year. Josh McDonald is a fighter who is comfortable wherever the fight ends up, with two victories coming by knockout and submission.

My Prediction: Josh McDonald

Strikeforce Welterweight Division Fight

Bret “The Angry Hick” Berg mark (6-1-1) vs. James Terry (7-2-0)

Bret Bergmark is currently undefeated in Strikeforce competition, having defeated Vagner Rocha at Strikeforce: Fedor vs. Rogers. Bret Bergmark also competed In World Extreme Cagefighting, defeating Brodie Farber and Daisuke Ishii, while suffering a lone defeat to Mike Pyle. Bret Bergmark also competed overseas in Pancrase, fighting Keiichiro Yamamiya to a draw in December 2003. Bret Bergmark will be entering the fight riding a two fight winning streak, which has lasted over two years. Bret Bergmark will be looking to use his striking skills to win the fight, with two victories coming by knockout. James Terry has had a successful run in Strikeforce, defeating Zak Bucia (twice), while suffering a lone defeat to Tarec Saffiedine. James Terry also competed in the Cage Combat Fighting Championships, defeating Josh McDonald, Tony Juarez, Jack Montgomery and Josh Hinkle, while suffering a lone defeat to Jeremiah Metcalf. James Terry started off his MMA career in impressive fashion, with a five fight undefeated streak that had lasted over a year. James Terry is currently winless in 2010, suffering a defeat to Tarec Saffiedine at Strikeforce Challengers 6. James Terry will be looking to use his striking skills to win the fight, with two victories coming by knockout.

My Prediction: James Terry
