PREVIEWING THE UFC 121: LESNAR VS. VELASQUEZ SPIKE TV CARD

By David Tees on 10/21/2010 8:28 PM
UFC Middleweight Division Fight

Patrick “The Predator” Cote (13-6-0) vs. Tom “The Filthy Mauler” Lawler (6-3-0)

Patrick Cote has had an unsuccessful run in the UFC, defeating Scott Smith, Kendall Grove, Drew McFedries and Ricardo Almeida, while suffering defeats to Tito Ortiz, Joe Doerkson, Chris Leben, Travis Lutter, Anderson Silva and Alan Belcher. Patrick Cote once competed for the UFC Middleweight Championship, losing to current champion Anderson Silva at UFC 90. Patrick Cote missed a whole year of active MMA competition in 2009 after suffering a knee injury at UFC 90. Patrick Cote will be entering the fight trying to stop a two fight losing streak, which has lasted nearly two years. Patrick Cote will be looking to use his striking skills to get the win, with six victories coming by knockout. Tom Lawlor has had an interesting run in the UFC, defeating Kyle Kingsbury and CB Dollaway, while suffering defeats to Aaron Simpson and Joe Doerkson. Tom Lawlor was a cast member on the UFC Ultimate Fighter 8, which was won by both Ryan Bader and Efrain Escudero. Tom Lawlor also competed in the World Fighting Championships promotion, defeating Jason Barlog and suffering a defeat to Shane Primm. Tom Lawlor will be entering the fight trying to end a two fight losing streak, which has lasted over nine months. Tom Lawlor will be looking to put the fight on the ground, with three victories coming by way of submission.

My Prediction: Patrick Cote

UFC Middleweight Division Fight

Ryan Jensen (15-6-0) vs. Court “The Crusher” McGee (12-1-0)

Ryan Jensen has had an unsuccessful run in the UFC, defeating Steve Steinbeiss and Jesse Forbes, while suffering defeats to Damien Maia, Thales Leitas, Wilson Gouveia and Mark Munoz. Ryan Jensen also competed in the Victory Fighting Championships, defeating Brian Robinson, Josh Stamp, Tyrone Roberts, Danny Anderson, Rob Kimmons, Curtis Stout and Aaron Praschak. Of his twenty one professional MMA fights, none have gone to a decision for Ryan Jensen, which speaks to the fighters finishing abilities. Ryan Jensen started off his MMA career in impressive fashion, with a five fight undefeated streak that had lasted over eight years. Ryan Jensen will be looking to put the fight on the ground, with ten victories coming by way of submission. Court McGee is currently undefeated in UFC competition, having defeated Kris McCray at the UFC Ultimate Fighter 11 Finale. Court McGee won the UFC Ultimate Fighter 11, which was coached by UFC rivals Chuck Liddell and Tito Ortiz. Court McGee also competed in the Ultimate Combat Experience promotion, defeating Nick Rossborough, Jarrett Kelton, Ben Fuimaono and DaMarques Johnson, while suffering a lone defeat to Jeremy Horn. Court McGee will be entering the fight riding a six fight winning streak, which has lasted well over a full year. Court McGee will be looking to put the fight on the ground, with six victories coming by way of submission.

My Prediction: Court McGee
