By David Tees on 11/10/2010 8:58 PM
WEC Bantamweight Division Fight

Damacio “The Angel Of Death” Page (15-4-0) vs. Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson (6-1-0)

Damacio Page has had a successful run in the WEC, defeating Scott Jorgensen, Marcos Galvao and Will Campuzano, while suffering a lone defeat to Brian Bowles. Damacio Page also competed in the Southwest Cage Association, defeating Anthony Jensen, Ricardo Montana and Travis Sherman. It has been over a year since Damacio Page last competed in an MMA fight, so cage rust can become a factor in the fight. Damacio Page will be entering the fight riding a two fight winning streak, which has lasted well over a year. Damacio Page will be looking to use his striking skills to win the fight, with eight victories coming by knockout. Demetrious Johnson has had an interesting run in the WEC, defeating Nick Pace and suffering a defeat to Brad Pickett. Demetrious Johnson also competed in the King Of The Cage promotion, defeating Pedro Mercado and Franz Mendez. It has been less than two months since Demetrious Johnson last competed in an MMA fight, so conditioning could play a factor in the fight. Demetrious Johnson has a winning record thus far in 2010, winning two of his three MMA fights thus far this year. Demetrious Johnson will be looking to put the fight on the ground, with three victories coming by way of submission.

My Prediction: Damacio Page

Joseph Benavidez has had a successful run in the WEC, defeating Danny Martinez, Jeff Curran, Rani Yahya and Miguel Torres, while suffering defeats to Dominick Cruz. Joseph Benavidez also competed once in the DREAM promotion, defeating Junya Kudo by way of submission. Joseph Benavidez has split his two fights thus far in 2010, defeating Miguel Torres at WEC 47 and losing to Dominick Cruz at WEC 50. Joseph Benavidez will be looking to put the fight on the ground, with seven victories coming by way of submission. Wagnney Fabiano also competed in the International Fight League, defeating Ian Loveland, Cam Ward, Erik Owings, John Gunderson, LC Davis and Shad Lierley. Despite competing in professional MMA for over a decade, Wagnney Fabiano has seen action in only six MMA promotions. Wagnney Fabiano will be entering the fight riding a two fight winning streak, which has lasted over nine months. Wagnney Fabiano will be looking to put the fight on the ground, with seven victories coming by way of submission.

My Prediction: Joseph Benavidez

WEC Featherweight Division Fight

Erik “New Breed” Koch (10-1-0) vs. Francisco Rivera (5-0-0)

Erik Koch has had a successful run in the WEC, defeating Jameel Massouh and Bendy Casimir, while suffering a lone defeat to Chad Mendes. Erik Koch also competed in the Mainstream MMA promotion, defeating Prentiss Wolf, Micah Washington, TJ O’Brien, Eric Wisely and Joe Pearson. Erik Koch will be looking to put the fight on the ground, with seven victories coming by way of submission. Francisco Rivera will be making his WEC debut in this fight, but he is a veteran of the Called Out MMA promotion. While in the Called Out MMA promotion, Francisco Rivera defeated both Aaron Arana and Fernando Bernstein. Francisco Rivera is replacing Josh Grispi in this fight, as Josh Grispi was moved to the upcoming UFC 125 card in January. Francisco Rivera will be entering the fight riding a five fight undefeated streak, which has lasted over two years. Francisco Rivera will be looking to use his striking skills to win the fight, with three victories coming by knockout.

My Prediction: Erik Koch

WEC Bantamweight Division Fight

Chad “Money” Mendes (8-0-0) vs. Javier “Showtime” Vazquez (15-4-0)

Chad Mendes is undefeated in WEC competition, having defeated Erik Koch, Anthony Morrison and Cub Swanson. Chad Mendes had also competed in the Palace Fighting Championships promotion, defeating Giovanni Encarnacion, Leland Gridley and Art Arciniega. This fight against Javier Vazquez will mark the fourth fight of 2010 for Chad Mendez, and the fourth fight in seven months. Chad Mendes will be entering the fight riding an eight fight undefeated streak, which has lasted over two years. Chad Mendes is a fighter who is comfortable wherever the fight ends up, with four victories coming by knockout and submission. Javier Vazquez has had an interesting run in the WEC, defeating Jens Pulver and Mackens Semerzier, while suffering defeats to LC Davis and Deividas Taurosevicius. Javier Vazquez also competed in the Elite XC promotion, defeating the duo of JC Pennington and Adriano Pereira. Javier Vazquez also competed in the lone pay-per-view for the Fight Force International promotion, defeating Mark Kergosien. Javier Vazquez will be looking to put the fight on the ground, with ten victories coming by way of submission.

My Prediction: Chad Mendes

Urijah Faber has had a successful run in the WEC, defeating Joe Pearson, Dominick Cruz, Chance Farrar, Jeff Curran, Jens Pulver and Raphael Assuncao, while suffering defeats to Mike Brown and Jose Aldo. Urijah Faber is the former WEC Featherweight Champion, as he defeated Dominick Cruz at WEC 26 to win the championship. Urijah Faber has split both of his fights thus far in 2010, defeating Raphael Assuncao at WEC 46 and suffering a defeat to Jose Aldo at WEC 48. Urijah Faber will be looking to put the fight on the ground, with twelve victories coming by way of submission. Takeya Mizugaki has had an interesting run in the WEC, defeating Jeff Curran and Rani Yahya, while suffering defeats to Miguel Torres and Scott Jorgensen. Prior to his WEC debut in early 2009, Takeya Mizugaki had competed in Japan in both the Shooto and Greatest Common Multiple promotions. Takeya Mizugaki once challenged for the WEC Bantamweight Title, losing to then champion Miguel Torres at WEC 40.
